OT: The A-Team (Michigan football edition) [edited]
This whole season is going to play out as an episode of the 80's TV show the A-Team. Below is the opening commentary to the show.
At the end of the season, we need a picture of Harbaugh with a stogie in his mouth saying the famous phrase "I love it when a plan comes together"
In 2023, a college football team and coach were falsely accused by the media for a crime they didn't commit.
These men promptly continued to be slandered through the mud by their rivals, opposing coaches, and every team that was on their schedule.
Today, still wanted by the NCAA, they survive as players of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the Michigan Football Team.
Starring: Jim Harbaugh as (Col. Hanibal Smith)
JJ McCarthy as (Lt. Templeton Peck)
Also Starring: Connor Stalions as (Captain H.M. Murdock)
AND...Kris Jenkins as (Sgt. B.A. Baracus)

I usually don't start drinking until after work around 6

Should we just make this the 'friday whatcha drinking thread'?
I've found that Apple Cider pairs with almost any cheap brown (whiskey, rum, etc)

Apple cider jugs with rum was our go to drink before Michigan games (early 80’s). You can thank us for the ban on carry in containers — and marshmallows!

Was Peck “Face Man”? That would be about right.

That would be correct. Faceman was Peck

Einhorn was Finkle! Finkle was Einhorn!

I also want to take this opportunity to plug one of my favorite old shows, the Wednesday Night Mystery series Banacek (think Colombo/McMillan, etc.) but instead starring George Peppard as a dapper, womanizing Boston insurance investigator. It's on Saturday afternoons on Cozi TV and is great.

👍👍
Along with Kojak (Telly Savalas), "Who loves ya, baby".
And my favorite man dressed all in black, Paladin (Richard Boone). Have gun. Will travel.

Johnny Western wrote the Paladin theme song. He was also Johnny Cash's guitarist on many of his album and tours. Great music!

Did his business card say, "Wire Paladin, San Francisco"? Am I remembering that correctly?

I recall it being one of my favorite shows but I don't remember all the details. I liked the Banacek character and the general flavor of the show: light, humorous, but interesting plots and quite clever. I do remember a lot of great cars and that Banacek was an ex-Marine - like Peppard.
I also remember being very disappointed that it had such a short run when so many inferior shows went on and on.

The character drives a Packard convertible and wears driving gloves and sometimes an ascot! It's such a time capsule from a certain era, but the big reveal at the end is always completely bonkers (as in the viewers don't really get the breadcrumbs that he uses to solve the crime). They only made 17 episodes. The producers wanted it to continue, but Peppard was going through a nasty divorce and didn't want his ex to get any more royalties. He was a fascinating guy, from Detroit, grew up dirt poor, USMC service, married five times. A proper rogue! Rumor has it he was extremely difficult to work with and never even spoke to Mr. T on set of the A-Team, because T made more per episode despite not being a "proper actor."

Married five times? Probably died a very poor man.

Thanks! I didn't know that about Peppard. Quite a character.

I pity the fool who has to hire his little brothers to investigate our team.
November 3rd, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
Murdock was a good guy, so not Stallions, who seems to be the creator of this mess. B.A. was a (checks notes)... large black man, so, I guess, that's why Jenkins. Racist much?
November 3rd, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
Ok Mason Graham as B.A. if you have an issue with Kris.
geesh.. lighten up Francis. Just trying to have some fun on a Friday and you go out and call me a racist because Jenkins has been kicking everyones ass on the field this year like B.A. would in the show.
November 3rd, 2023 at 3:36 PM ^
You’re right.
Jay Harbaugh as B.A. Baracus
November 3rd, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
Ben Herbert as B.A. seems like a no brainer.

Hi Mike
There is a specific thread for these sorts of requests.

Thank you. I appreciate the link as well.

Sorry, after he was rightfully suspended, Stalions isn't starring in anything Michigan related. He isn't a has-been, he's a never-was.
