FUCK OHIO! That is all.
October 31st, 2023 at 7:33 PM ^
Wait, I thought Day said everyone was against osu, and it was them against the world. So how did they get voted #1 then?
October 31st, 2023 at 7:36 PM ^
Hired a PI firm

You misspelled PE. Your use of "firm" was appropriate.

Ever since their big win against Georgia last year they have been on fire. They won that right?
Oh sorry the media had me thinking that was a win.

Take down our "Almost beat TCU" banner because we watched amongst 70,000 other fans and a national tv audience.

Brought to you by Ohio's favorite son, John Boehner.

Yeah you can only claim that after Issue 2 passes next week. For now they're buttholes.
Love ya Chuck!
November 1st, 2023 at 11:28 AM ^
Hey Buck, you know they placed you #1 so when you lose to M, you still stay in the playoff. Must be nice to be a favorited Buckeye. M can never make the CFP after a loss and you guys are set to do it in back to back years. That 2016 game still stings. Your Ohio based refs patting Mike Weber on the ass should've resulted in an investigation.
November 1st, 2023 at 12:22 PM ^
The ref who patted Weber was from Indiana.
November 1st, 2023 at 8:06 AM ^
You have to admit this is some funny shit. For 2 years Michigan was the underdog and crushed them and they're going to put them ahead of Michigan again? As if Michigan needed any more motivation.
November 1st, 2023 at 9:32 AM ^
Excuse me, but they beat Notre Dame, who squeaked by Duke.
November 1st, 2023 at 11:30 AM ^
Even RR and Hoke beat ND. They are always overrated.
November 1st, 2023 at 11:27 AM ^
It is again setup for us to leapfrog them into #1 or #2, and same with Georgia.
October 31st, 2023 at 7:20 PM ^
Neat!
October 31st, 2023 at 7:20 PM ^
Outstanding. Another chance to ‘upset’ the buckeyes. I love this script.
October 31st, 2023 at 7:57 PM ^
Absolutely. I was thrilled to see this. The only issue is that this really protects OSU in an out of balance manner. Unless Michigan, once again, beats the snot out of the Buckeyes OSU will still get a seat in the CFP.
October 31st, 2023 at 8:01 PM ^
Not necessarily - the other 4 unbeatens could remain so.
Or - Oregon beats Washington in the Pac12 Title game & vaults over osu, fresh off a 3rd straight loss to Michigan.
Either leaves them out...

Not this year. Last year there were no 11-1 or 12-1 teams except OSU/TCU (and unfortunately, despite what anyone says, it all comes down to record). This year there are bound to be several conference champs who are 12-1 or 13-0. Likely that all 4 major conferences outside the B1G are going to have winner with 1 or fewer losses. The OSU/UM loser (see OSU) isn't going, unless Nov is a crazy month.
October 31st, 2023 at 8:29 PM ^
CFP may want to see a 1 loss Washington in over a 1 pantsed OSU. . .
October 31st, 2023 at 8:32 PM ^
I think they'd be one of the first non champs in but every P5 conference has a solid contender so that makes them 6th in line if we beat them.
October 31st, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
Well, there is a possibility for Georgia and OSU fight for the last spot.
October 31st, 2023 at 10:09 PM ^

I think this is just the committee giving OSU credit for their big wins against PSU and ND. While Michigan has obviously been the most dominant team by any metric (aside: is it literally any metric? Is there even an argument from any other team by any stats at this point?)--they see that OSU has some strengths and has the two best wins of any CFB team. Also they can do this knowing that it will be solved on the field, and putting OSU 1st gives the committee the option of keeping them in the playoff and generating more $$$ by pointing at their only loss being to #1 or #2 Michigan while also possibly having a top 10 win vs ND.
Doing it with Michigan higher would lead to less credibility since the schedule would make it harder to keep them in top 4 if 5 was maybe a 1 loss TEX or SEC championship game somehow has GEO losing.
October 31st, 2023 at 10:50 PM ^
If Michigan keeps winning, we'll be #1 before The Game. Lots of people are just reluctant to put M there until they beat PSU.
November 1st, 2023 at 1:09 AM ^
No way Michigan jumps them with just a win over PSU. Osu is set up for the playoffs. This gives us almost no hope if we lose at home to them but they can certainly lose on the road to us.
FSU will very likely get in no one is in front of them.
So that leaves 3 spots. The Pac 12 and the Big 12 have lots of teams near the top. If Washington wins out they would certainly be in but it's unlikely.
If Bama wins out and Washington losses it will be FSU, B1G Champ, Bama, Georgia
If Georgia wins out and Washington losses it will be FSU, B1G Champ, Georgia and between a 1 loss Pac 12 Champ and the loser of The Game,
November 1st, 2023 at 9:38 AM ^
I'd like to stay #2 behind UGA, so they can face Oregon and we can face FSU.

It's very possible Minnesota and Nebraska beat them, then all the sudden Michigan's crossovers look better.
October 31st, 2023 at 7:42 PM ^
Current crossover comparison:
OSU played/plays Purdue, Wiscon and Minnesota (combined B1G record 7-8)
Michigan played/plays Purdue, Nebraska and Minnesota (combined B1G record 7-8)
Penn State played/plays Illinois, Iowa and Northwestern (combined B1G record 6-9)
October 31st, 2023 at 8:53 PM ^
In other words, the B1G West sucks.

Minnesota, Nebraska, and Rutgers are no better/worse than UNC, Duke, ASU, Wash st, Kentucky, NC state, Mizzou. Its all the same shit.
October 31st, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
I suspect that ~6 of those teams you named are better then the 3 B1G teams you named.
October 31st, 2023 at 11:59 PM ^
3 or 4 are.
November 1st, 2023 at 12:28 AM ^
Are they? Is Georgia tech better than Miami or UNC? Is Bowling Green better than Gtech?
Be honest what would your answer have been before they played those games?
How you guys are so sure is beyond me. Rutgers and Nebraska may have the best defense of every one of those teams.

Mizzou: “Et tu, Buckeye Chuck?”
November 1st, 2023 at 8:16 AM ^
Missouri might be the best out of all of them. 7-1m but they're at UGA this weekend so we'll see how serious they are.
November 1st, 2023 at 10:02 AM ^
But now we are doing that thing where if Mizzou wins "ok they're good" but if it's a blowout "Georgia STILL ain't played nobody"
At some point you have to count wins other than over the top 10
