OT: Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon, out for the season
I'm just trying to wrap my head around this. I know injuries happen in football but this one is just so fluky -- season ending, maybe career ending, after a huge move to another team after years and years with the same team. I'm not superstitious and I don't believe in the hand of some higher power getting involved in stuff like this but....a bunch of things had to go wrong for this to happen and they did.

Listen, I don't like to see the vast majority of athletes get injured, and feel free to downvote me, but fuck Aaron Rodgers and fuck his Achilles! Couldn't have happened to less likeable QB (except maybe Kork Coupons).
September 12th, 2023 at 3:18 PM ^
A future HOF QB not getting to spend perhaps his last year with management he likes and a team he's helping to raise in a sense is a minor tragedy.
He can pry be a diva but the real losers are his fans who've never seen the Jets contend, and the backups learning from him.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:48 PM ^
Lol "minor tragedy"
September 12th, 2023 at 4:44 PM ^
Tell me, Laser Wolf, how much would it matter to you IF you were the best in your field AND you loved your job AND you couldn't physically do it anymore?
September 12th, 2023 at 4:49 PM ^
Am I making $70 million dollars to sit on my ass after that injury? Your use of "tragedy" in any sense is hyperbolic and you know it.
September 12th, 2023 at 6:44 PM ^
Mahomes isn't injured, he's just missing Kelce right now.
September 12th, 2023 at 4:11 PM ^
The Jets made the AFC title game in 2009 and 2010; the idea that Jets fans haven't seen them "contend" is a bit extreme. Were those great teams? Nope, but they were good enough to nearly play for a Super Bowl and that's not nothing.
September 12th, 2023 at 6:23 PM ^
Not sad to see NY sports teams over spend and under perform!
It does suck for Aaron.
September 12th, 2023 at 8:49 PM ^
LOL. Please stop with the melodrama. This doesn't even register as a teeny, tiny, itsty-bitsy tragedy, let alone a minor one.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:28 PM ^
I don’t like Aaron Rodgers, and I might root for him to lose a game. But your finding happiness in a potentially career ending injury is pathetic.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
Rodgers was already at the very end of his career. He just didn't know it yet. He'd been fading for 2-3 seasons, to the point that the Packers replaced him with a totally unproven young guy. Now he gets $73 million for 75 seconds of work -- after spending a year peddling dangerous misinformation. He'll be fine in a few months. He wasn't going to win the Jets a title. In the world of tragedies, this is not one.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
Yeah, he's been fading the last 2 or 3 years, because he didn't win his third MVP in a row last year...
September 12th, 2023 at 3:55 PM ^
Evidently you didn't watch him at the end of last season. He was pretty bad.
September 12th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
“End of last year” is very different from the 2-3 years you originally claimed…
September 12th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
I was looking forward to seeing what he can do with the Jets.
Past examples of HOF QB’s changing teams at the end of their career:
Brady won a superbowl
Montana went to the Chiefs, was injured in the middle of the first season, but did pretty well making the playoffs for two years
Favre transferred to the Jets and did well but got injured toward the end of the season. Then he did great his first year at Minnesota.
September 12th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Favre was also sending out pictures of his dong while on the Jets
September 12th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Yah, definitely don’t like the guy. What is this problem with Packers quarterbacks?
September 12th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
"Dangerous misinformation" - get over yourself already. Sheesh.
September 12th, 2023 at 6:29 PM ^
I don’t follow the news but there are a bunch of comments about people saying Rodgers “spewed dangerous misinformation” and I can’t find anything on the internet that can back this up.
granted I’m not looking very hard. he may have said the vaccine will give you an anal prolapse, but I’d think that would be easily findable
September 13th, 2023 at 8:14 AM ^
He gets his medical advice from "Dr." Joe Rogan.
September 13th, 2023 at 8:31 AM ^
Because it never happened.
September 13th, 2023 at 9:50 AM ^
If you google "Aaron Rodgers misinformation" you get articles like this one that talk about all of the misinformation he spewed about COVID 19. Took me 2 seconds. It was easily findable. It was also a major news story at the time so most news watchers/readers are aware of it. Maybe leave "anal prolapse" out of your searches and you'll get better results.
September 12th, 2023 at 10:18 PM ^
Dangerous misinformation aka information we find out is true two years later.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:44 PM ^
That's fine, you're allowed your opinion as well. Like I said, he's a major exception and you cannot change my mind on this. I await more downvotes because fuck Aaron Rodgers now and forever.
September 12th, 2023 at 4:52 PM ^
Yeah, I’d rather he’d have played all year and lost a ton of games with less than stellar stats. That injury sucks.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
Coupons as an MSU person can go f himself. As a human being he seems like a pretty freaking good person.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
I don't get the Rodgers hate. This is a big loss for the NFL.
September 12th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
I'm sure the NFL and Rodgers will be just fine wiping away the tears with their millions upon million of dollars.
September 12th, 2023 at 4:25 PM ^
A good portion of it is because he has an allergy that people think he shouldn't be allowed to have.
September 12th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Gross.
September 12th, 2023 at 5:42 PM ^
I'm not going to celebrate this injury. But I am going to LOL at the rest of the Jets organization. The way the holdovers from last year openly cheered on social media, while Zach Wilson is still on the team, I thought was kinda trash. And the fact that they brought a washed up Randall Cobb over to make Rodgers happy, makes me chuckle. As a Lions fan, this feels like something that would normally happen to us.
September 12th, 2023 at 7:30 PM ^
Don’t know what was worse the injury or how much time hard knocks tried to get everyone to like Rodgers?
Two biggest propaganda shows of the summer, Hard Knocks for Rodgers and the QB show on Netflix with Kirk Cousins.
September 12th, 2023 at 8:25 PM ^
I dare you to watch 'Quarterback' and then think poorly of Kirk Cousins. I've ridiculed him for being a sparty and a viqueen, but he is a genuinely good man, and actually makes Mahomes appear to be a bit of a tool. Don't get me wrong, I have Mahomes on my fantasy team because he is a better football player, but Cousins is simply a better man.
September 13th, 2023 at 6:43 AM ^
Cousins is by far NOT the better man and neither is his immediate family. That show accomplished exactly what it set out to do with you and a lot of other people. The Cousins family is your typical west sider. Oh and his wife is one of the biggest POS of all time. They love to hide behind their ACT.
“I take off Tuesdays to be with my family” lol trying to justify your random day off while you continue to suck when it matters.
September 13th, 2023 at 5:32 AM ^
Some guy in Twitterland apparently predicted the injury:
September 13th, 2023 at 11:37 AM ^
Sucks for him on the field but he's not going to be in the food stamp line anytime soon.
September 12th, 2023 at 3:13 PM ^
Ahh I’m real broken hearted for the guy
will he let Joe Rogan do the surgery since he’s a medical expert or you know use someone with actual expertise
September 12th, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
Yeah, I bet he goes with Joe. Funny how he doesn't when he really needs medical advice vs rubbing horse paste on it. The guy is so thirsty for attention.
September 12th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
Joe Rogan gets a lot of hate for a guy who basically says “I don’t know, that’s why you’re on my podcast. So I can ask you questions about these things I don’t know about.”
September 12th, 2023 at 5:21 PM ^
He also basically says "hey you have an insane idea? I'll give you a platform to spread your ideas with no pushback or challenge at all, cause I'm just here to sell Alpha Brain."
September 12th, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
I see you’ve never heard his podcast.
a) he calls out a ton of bullshit and challenges almost everyone who comes on to prove it.
b) he’s in the entertainment business. it’s not his job to filter out alternative ideas. its your job to process facts and figure out what you believe to be true.
this is like being mad that the WWE isn’t real wrestling and isn’t “using their platform to better mankind”
September 13th, 2023 at 10:26 AM ^
a) Please point me to the proof that Robert Kennedy provided that vaccines cause any of issues he said they did. And show me the quotes of Joe Rogan pushing back on his claims.
b) Hence why I don't listen to him. I've done my job and I filtered out the bullshit, leaving nothing of his to listen to.
Your analogy makes no sense because you started this convo by defending Rogan. So in this situation, you're the one defending the WWE as an educational product. To which I am saying, if you try to learn anything from WWE you are gullible idiot.

Rabble rabble rabble rabble!!!!!!
September 12th, 2023 at 11:44 PM ^
< nvm >
September 13th, 2023 at 10:14 AM ^
Ah MeanJoe back to defend his favorite racist podcasters. Remember when you said racism isn't that prevalent amognst people who listen to Ben Shapiro and Joe Rogan? Joe Rogan said being in "the blackest neighborhood in Philly" was like being in the movie Planet of the Apes.
September 12th, 2023 at 6:45 PM ^
Is Ivermectin Patchouli Rodgers an epidemiologist? 🤔
September 12th, 2023 at 7:05 PM ^
I don’t believe so, which is probably why almost no one took his opinion seriously
September 12th, 2023 at 4:38 PM ^
Joe Rogan says there's no need for surgery. He'll just inject a few vials of livestock dewormer to heal up Rodgers in no time.
September 12th, 2023 at 6:11 PM ^
You're seriously this broken? You don't agree with a guy's politics or health decisions, sure, but to just willfully ignore common fact? There are several things that have both human and animal uses.
"It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines,[14][15] and is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an antiparasitic agent.[16]"
