Michigan at Penn St won't be a night game
Big Noon:
Will likely dominate the time slot.
Are all the garbage games gonna be night games or something?
Michigan St is at Ohio St at 7:30 pm the same day. So that helps your theory.
One man's trash is another man's freak show.
Haven’t we covered this like 3 times already? Is the OP tweet just making it officially official?
Officially OR officiously official.
MSU gonna get crushed.
Sparty is facing down a flood of beatdowns this season. Can't wait!
That game is going to be a repeat of 2021, maybe worse.
The last time osu destroyed sparty at home their fans thought they were going to do the same to Michigan.
Why would you put that in primetime. Unless MSU's secondary gets better suddenly, that's gonna be another one where OSU is up by 4+ TDS at half
Depends on the time zone.
or something time is the best time
I would hold off on this for a bit. Michigan is going to end up with their share of NBC Saturday Night games at some point for 2023 season. Many of the 2nd choice games during weeks when FOX has the first pick are going to be on NBC. If FOX selects PSU-OSU for Big Noon in Week 8 for example, there is a high probability Michigan-MSU is going to be on NBC Saturday Night. Those road games @Minnesota or @Nebraska are probably going to be on FOX Big Noon or NBC Saturday Night. 2023 is going to be a bit of an outlier because CBS is still in the final year of their SEC deal so they are only carrying around 7 Big Ten games this year.
MSU looks like they are going to be on NBC Saturday Night a lot this year. Two games announced already (@OSU and PSU), and Michigan-MSU looks likely to land there as well.
And once USC/UCLA join and divisions are abolished, the number of premier games will just increase
That's when we'll truly know the networks run everything. Seems like the schools have always resisted a night game in EL for obvious reasons.
Recruits want to play at night on TV and msu has been trying to play as many night games as possible, and we should keep pace with that, save the OSU game.
Recruits want to play in big games in the best gameday atmospheres. I don't think the time is as big a factor as you think. People got this false notion that "night" game equates to the "best" games, and then FOX showed the fallacy in that belief when their Big Noon ratings took off. Turns out people will watch the best games regardless of what time they are.
There's a chance game day will be there. Michigan should be undefeated, however, PSU may have one or two loses. If they have 2 losses, game day will probably be in the SEC!
Recruits want to play at night on TV
Maybe, but coaches (and wiser upperclassmen) really don't like playing at night much at all - it's a long day waiting to get the game on and it puts you behind schedule getting rested and prepared for the next game, especially on the road.
Toe should meet leather between noon and 3:30.
I've always loved the 3:30 starts. Day/Night games.
We don’t care about playing night games. We care about playing at Penn St. at night.
I never understand this loser mentality, kids want to play the best teams and play all of these primetime games. They want to compete no matter when or where.
Of course they'll compete no matter what time. But wouldn't you prefer the game be scheduled for a time when the win probability is higher??
@Minn is my crew's away game of the year. A nightcap would be a good way to soak in the 'sota on our trip.
I consider myself an intense college football fan and I'm completely lost on these new TV deals and structures. I need a drink.
I have to say, after a decade stretch or so of no big games at noon, it's nice they're going back to the 90's formula where you can watch a big game at any time of the day...even at noon.
...but since it's on FOX, it will be night when the game is over.
If your college football broadcast lasts longer than 4 hours, call a doctor.
Roman pretty much cured my ED in the semi until the replay booth went and screwed it up. After that a semi wouldve been an upgrade.
"last longer than 4 hours..."
You're verging very close to equating rooting interests and . . . personal plumbing that will make many uncomfortable.
Though many people recognize the connection — my rooting interest is BIGGER than your rooting interest!—to have it explicitly pointed out can be awkward.
Are we comparing rooting interests, now?
You mean they're not moving it to Heinz Field or Lincoln Financial Field?
B1G Nude Saturday!
Got a sneak peak at the new rebranding coming out next year..
A number BIGger than 10 conference*
*Actual conference size may vary
I love my Michigan football at noon on a Saturday, wish they were all at noon
Yes, I agree 100%. It gives you 2-3 hours to pretend to sober-up before taking the wife out for a nice dinner, but in reality falling asleep on the couch and having her run and grab take-out at 8pm.
Can’t be drunk all day if you dont start early and stay up late
I prefer the 3:30 games personally, as it allows one to get things done before-hand and still have an evening.
[Noon games are rough for those of us living in Asia, when they kickoff in the wee hours of morning.]
This right here. I'll go out and light a fire in the firepit in the morning, drink a cup of coffee, smoke a cigar and head in the house for kickoff.
From my earliest days of attendance at Michigan Stadium, the norm was 1:30 pm, then became 1 pm. I've got nearly all my ticket stubs, back to my first game in 1974, as evidence.
I can hear ol' Bob Ufer now (as he closed out each Saturday's radio broadcast): "Won't you join me on your radio dial next Saturday as toe meets leather at 1pm..."
Through 1978, home kickoffs in September and October were 1:30 pm; November start times being 1 pm.
From 1979 (other than the '79 Notre Dame tilt at 3 pm) thru 1983, all my ticket stubs show a 1 pm kickoff.
By the mid 80s, an occasional "TBA" started appearing on at least a couple games each season but thru 1990 1 pm was still the norm (1989 ohio st game kickoff was scheduled @ 12:15).
In 1991, my stubs show a mixed bag of noon and 1pm starts; every '92 ticket stub says "TBA". As of '93, though, I see no more 1pm start times on my stub collection. 12 noon and 3:30 pm had fully taken over.
For me, living most of my life in the west half of the state, 1/1:30 pm was ideal, along with games back then that flowed with few TV timeout interruptions.
Less than ideal: 4 hour games (no matter the start time) with way too many 5 minute stoppages for numerous commercials pushing your favorite E.D. drug.
Can’t say I’m disappointed to dodge a whiteout, strange shit happens when those goobers are all wearing white
- no offense, NF
True, they are goobers, but not as much as the Ohio ones. Compared to Buckeyes, Penn Staters are erudite, sophisticated aristocrats.
On a completely unrelated note, drove by the Big House yesterday for the first time in a while. Wholly crud, that new scoreboard is massive!!! Now, about the Wi-Fi. Anyway, wow. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Wish the stadium cam was still on MGoBlue.com. I'd love to see it.
I hope the screen extends to all edges. Would be a shame to waste space with some type of frame around the screen
kind of a shame. obviously noon kicks tend to be less hostile environments so its a favorable move for michigan. however psu night games are usually in the running for most exciting sports atmospheres so im thinking many would prefer a late kick.
selfishly, night games are often easier to catch given our schedule and various kids activities in afternoons.
oh well, regardless of time, just roll into happy valley prepped and healthy enough to take care of business!
We are so spooked by a night game in college station. I’m not saying it’s misplaced… but we just are.
I mean, Michigan’s never played in College Station, but I guess it’d be spooky if suddenly Texas A&M showed up on the schedule for a night game there…
