OT: What is Prime doing today? A recurring MGoBlog Series
Just today, Colorado has had no less than FOURTEEN (!!!) players enter the transfer portal.
Thus concludes today's episode of "As The Buffaloes turn."
Spring portal is going to be a thing whether we like it or not.
Right you are, Ken.
Love that show...
The thread's title is a tribute to Maximinus Thrax's comment, as regards Saturday's episode of "As the Buffaloes Turn."
At this rate, the Colorado Buffaloes will have Prime Jr and Travis Hunter playing all 22 positions
Not really (and yes, I know you're being sarcastic) because he's got a shit-ton of incoming transfers they needed to make room for and my guess is he's got his eye on a shit-ton more after seeing what he's got (and doesnt got) during spring practice.
Stylistically the two HCs couldn't be further apart but is Prime's approach to the roster makeover really any different to Bo's here back in 69?
A lot of players exited under Bo, but he coached up those who stayed.
Coach Prime is like a revolving door.
The players that stayed under Bo had a record of 8-2 in 1968, finished 2nd in the BIG Ten and were ranked #12 overall. This wasnt a bad roster overall.
The playeers that stayed under Prime had a record of 1-11 and were considered one of the worst teams in all of division I football. This WAS a bad roster.
Not fair to be critical of Prime for wanting to purge his roster of just about everyone unlike Bo. Just about everyone he inhereted sucked unlike Bo.
Coach Prime inherited a godawful situation. But he’s crazy like a fox. People wonder why Colorado? He picked Colorado because it was so bad. What a great situation for him. Any success will be wildly cheered in Boulder. Go .500 and he’s a hero. You think he won’t have his pick from the transfer portal? Deion Sanders is the perfect coach for these times.
Yes it is different. Bo didn’t treat players like raw hamburger. He wanted their commitment and made his promise to him with his famous quote. His love for his players showed through and most of them stayed. He didn’t look at any of them as if they were not good enough. He treated them all with character and respect. He also didn’t and couldn’t recruit new players in the portal that could take your job even if you did commit to his team philosophy.
And as far as turnover, Prime has 20 players left from last years roster and he only has about 60 now. The portal is big but not deeply talented. Bo probably retained over 90% of his players.
Prime’s message is “your not good enough, I don’t care about you, and you’re replaceable”.
Bo’s message was “if you stay and do what I ask, I’ll make you a champion”.

But has Deion let the team doctor finger pop his boys?
He expected, and wanted, players to transfer out. He also wants the team out of the Pac-12:
I can’t really blame Sanders for wanting a different conference. The PAC12 minus USC and UCLA does not provide the “play against the best” opportunities which appeal to recruits with NFL aspirations. Oregon is reported to want out as well.
Is the Big XII without Texas and Oklahoma much better than the Pac?
I thought I recognized that phrase! Thanks for the hat tip!!
Yes! I was one of the many plus-votes when you said that Saturday! Perfect comment!
I thought there was a good sale I was missing on Amazon. Got all excited for nothing.
42 since 4/24 eh? Hmmmm…
And a 4* recruit decommited this weekend. Prime must be shopping in the off-brand Louie V luggage section now.
Just saving us from the Decepticons.
Autobots, roll out
With all the transfers coming in and the recruiting success, you'd have to expect a lot of guys to be going out (especially from a 1-11 team).
The scale of turnover he is looking for is probably way beyond what anyone thought could happen:
We have more Prime days here than Amazon. Now I will read all the comments and realize this joke was made 5 times already.
Edit: Surprisingly just one! Great success!
The Prime show is going to be entertaining as hell, no matter what happens.
Absofreakinglutely! I don't want any middle ground here with Coach Prime. This either needs to be great or just an unmitigated disaster.

Can you imagine what it would be like if they find a way to knock off a seriously rebuilding TCU?
No wonder their spring game was exciting. At Michigan, spring game losers get hot dogs. At colorado, the losers have to transfer (or were they the winners?)
I think second place gets a set of steak knives. . .
ABC
A always
B be
C Colorado
Always be Colorado.
I thought there was a limit on how many players could transfer in, partly because of how many transfers MeLLLLLLL Tucker brought in before his one incredibly lucky season.
Players in the Colorado portal are known as being "in the Buff".
sweet lord. deion is getting enough pixels burned on his behalf elsewhere, do we really need to contribute to it here?
how's about we make a deion sanders snowflake thread so those of you that want to dump every thought you can muster about him can do it in one place?
Not a lot going on so why not?
I mean, I clicked on a NFL mock draft thread earlier, that's how little there is to read on the internet today.
fair enough…clicking on a mock draft is my personal indicator to turn off the ipad and get some fresh air.
But it probably expected this kind of thing would happen. The team needed a major overhaul. So it's now going down.
Counterpoint:
Colorado scored less points last year than Iowa.
*Fewer points.
At least this activity shows evidence that Coach Prime is making his intentions clear. He has a vision of what the Buffs need, and if you don't fit, he's making it clear. Good for him, there is no point beating around the bush, get with the program or get scarce.
The answer will shock you!
The BuffPortal count is reported now to be 15 players.
Stay tuned for Ezekiel to fill us in on ALL the latest updates!
live podcast now happening, on what's going on at Colorado:

I'm sure lots of folks at Ralphie Report would love this information.
Here, not so much.
If you are transferring from CU, CSU is a solid option. Doubt AFA is interested.
Only a problem if he doesn’t get better players in …read some where that most of the players on Colorado’s roster pre-prime had very few or no P5 offers outside of the Buffaloes.
He'll probably get better players. CU was awful last year.
How much better? We'll see.
