PFF mock draft has Will Johnson drafted in the 1st Round this year if eligible
They say he would be the first DB taken, #10 overall in the 2023 Draft.
This is saying quite a bit seeing there's that super freak corner that Coach Prime has. Maybe that corner should transfer here and be coached by Coach Clink. (still wish I could look at cool as him)

Any word on Nate Oats?

He's hosting a dinner party that serves 7 to 9.

with three packs of instant ramen. it’s a loaves and fishes-type situation.

If we are looking for things I still am missing my balloon. I named it Fight Club.

He looked great at the back end of the year but this is some hyperbole. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up a top 10 pick but he wouldn’t be a day one pick on the basis of four or five great games
February 21st, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
At this rate I’d be shocked if he isn’t a 1st rounder who leaves after year 3. Corners with his length and athleticism don’t grow on trees and the NFL will always want them.
February 21st, 2023 at 8:03 PM ^
well, it’s a good thing he didn’t declare for the draft, then!
February 21st, 2023 at 9:24 PM ^
Sure he would. It’s the tools, and he has them. He’ll leave as the best Michigan DB of the Harbaugh era, by a lot. Unfortunately, it’s probably inevitable that college football players will eventually have the option to go to the NFL sooner than they can now.

That's quite a guarantee considering Jordan Lewis was a 2x All American.

Lavert Hill and David Long weren't slouches either (I'm also assuming the OP is counting Peppers as an LB)
February 22nd, 2023 at 9:54 AM ^
Have you met the NBA?
February 21st, 2023 at 6:50 PM ^
I googled "... that super freak corner that Coach Prime has....." and nothing came up.
Does the OP or anyone else have an idea of who ".... that super freak corner that Coach Prime has....." is?
February 21st, 2023 at 6:57 PM ^
Travis Hunter - Signed with Coach Prime at JSU then followed him to Colorado.
February 21st, 2023 at 6:58 PM ^
Thx....I couldn't determine that by what the OP posted.
February 21st, 2023 at 6:57 PM ^
Travis Hunter… But he’s similar to Peppers in that he actually might be more talented offensively.
February 21st, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
TY for providing that info..........

Pretty sure Hunter was the #1 overall croot in his class. It was quite the shocking surprise when he ditched FSU on signing day and went to a small HBCU. When asked how much he paid, Coach Prime said 'not a dime, we don't cheat'. LOL!!! Whatever dude, whatever...

At the rate his stock is rising, Devon Witherspoon may not even be there when the Lions pick at #6.
February 21st, 2023 at 7:00 PM ^
I love his game and would gladly welcome him in Detroit. He was a stud and I hated him when we played Illinois.
February 22nd, 2023 at 8:03 AM ^
Can't be that good - Harbaugh kept throwing at him all day and left the other corner mostly alone!
February 22nd, 2023 at 9:55 AM ^
Was that sarcasm? I am unfamiliar with this approach.
February 22nd, 2023 at 10:38 AM ^
Not really... There were quite a few throws to Witherspoon's side in the 2nd half, including late on the game winning FG drive. The game thread, and several threads afterward, had plenty of posts wondering why they were throwing at him. It was even brought up on the podcast. He broke up a couple, forced a couple of bad throws, and almost had a pick or two. Dude is good!
EDIT: Wait a minute... As I reread my first post and the post I had replied to, yes - it was sarcasm!
LOL!! Witherspoon is good...

He is good but was holding all game but not called so maybe that was just the way they chose to officiate it for both teams. Not sure.
I would like the Lions to draft him top of second if there. Quan Martin also in the 2nd or third. Mostly Illinois secondary wouldn't be too bad. Rather have Gonzalez or Porter at 18. DT for the 6th overall pick.
I think Mazi is going to be better than expected. Every play I recall he was directing his blocker where he wanted him and also pushing back double teams. In the backfield more than he got stats for. Others around him benefitted.

Would love him in the Honolulu Blue and Silver! Very physical with sticky coverage. I still can see the hit when he blew up CJ Stokes, by our sideline.
February 21st, 2023 at 7:06 PM ^
Yeah that dude is a stud.
February 21st, 2023 at 7:39 PM ^
That's fine, that would mean Anderson or Carter will be there @6 because QB's are going to fly off board.
February 22nd, 2023 at 5:12 PM ^
My exact thought right here. Carter is absolutely 100% the player that would have the biggest impact on this Lions roster. At this point I think the Lions just end up selecting whoever their top CB is at 6. It will be a reach but honestly anyone the Lions take at 6 will be unless crazy ish happens and Anderson or Carter fall.
Wouldn't mind if Levis or Stroud were still on the board and someone like the Panthers was willing to give up their 2nd rounder to move up to 6 for their QB. Adding another premium pick and getting the same player you would at 6 would be a coup.

I'd give some credit to Will's dad.

Shorter football name than Joe Alt in recent times? (5 letters or less)

When you're a teenager who leads the country in man coverage grade that'll happen. Looking forward to 2 more years of this kid before he goes and gets drafted in the first.

As a Michigan fan, I am glad Will will be wearing the winged helmet for the next two seasons.
Go Blue!
