at... 1:07? hahaha.. way to go out on a limb there buddy

Lol, agree. Most of these guys picks are right before when they are basically 100% in the know. Kind of comical in a way
February 1st, 2023 at 3:24 PM ^
I remember the last really talented player at SC. He was asked who was the best tackle he played against. His answer: the guy from Michigan
February 1st, 2023 at 3:27 PM ^
as soon as you said that an ESPN commercial of him blowing up vincent smith floated by..
February 1st, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
Have fun! Heck of an athlete, hope he does well whatever he pursues.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:59 PM ^
Would have been a great DE. Far from clear he has the blocking or receiving chops to be a great TE/WR. We shall see...
February 1st, 2023 at 2:06 PM ^
On the bright side, if he goes to SC, we will never need to worry about facing him in the playoffs.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
Its official now
February 1st, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Just committed to SC
February 1st, 2023 at 1:35 PM ^
I read he and Spencer Rattler have become friends .Rattler wanted him at SC pretty bad.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Why didn't anyone at UM think to befriend him?
Harbaugh should add that to the recruiting manifesto.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:42 PM ^
We probably shouldn’t have spit on him when he was walking up the gravelly road.
February 1st, 2023 at 2:28 PM ^
I mean he and Rattler will play together for one season in which Harbor will mostly be focusing on track and probably won't make a huge impact.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
He’s not wrong. He wouldn’t do it this late if he hadn’t gotten a rock solid confirmation.

never understood this new trend of "xx is coming home".. no he isnt. he's not from there.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:19 PM ^
Well, if you believe the Out of Africa hypothesis and the gradual spread of humankind to every corner of the globe, we’re either all from east Africa or we’re all from everywhere. So, in a sense, it could be true?!?!
February 1st, 2023 at 2:09 PM ^
I ain't from Africa, I'm from Crenshaw Mafia
February 1st, 2023 at 3:23 PM ^
Like it or not, you from Africa.

My family originated in the Garden of Eden.

He said something about home in the announcement too, though the audio was hard to hear. Does he maybe used to live there or have relatives there or something? Seems like an odd choice otherwise
February 1st, 2023 at 3:24 PM ^
I believe his GF is attending SC also on a volleyball scholarship.

How many teenagers followed their HS partner to college and lasted more than a year together? Maybe 2 percent?

February 1st, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Yeesh. S.Carolina sucks.
Enjoy mediocrity.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:16 PM ^
Ummm, they had two monster wins at the end of the season. Shane Beaner is proving to be a very good coach. This makes a ton of sense, especially since he won’t have to try to run track in Michigan's shitty weather.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:20 PM ^
I would go so far as to say it makes "a ton" of sense. He could be a part of a CFP team next year, and it won't be while playing for SC.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:26 PM ^
Wouldn’t rule it out given how they finished and seeing what TCU did this year. But given the fact that the playoffs are expanding in two years I don’t think that is such a big deal. Also, there is a good chance Harbor would play sparingly here next year anyway.
February 1st, 2023 at 3:27 PM ^
I would rule out South Carolina making the CFP.
They have have to play Georgia and Clemson every year.
I don’t see them beating either of those teams.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
Well football isn't his priority next year
February 1st, 2023 at 1:55 PM ^
Clearly there were other factors here that we don't fully understand. Plus if all he cared about was winning - Georgia offered him too
February 1st, 2023 at 1:26 PM ^
Followed by a monster loss to ND
They are 21-26 the last 4 years. I’ll stick with mediocrity.
And Michigan’s sprinters can run indoors all year long.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:46 PM ^
A seven point loss (45-38) is a "monster loss'????
February 1st, 2023 at 1:55 PM ^
Seriously, it was a super tight back and forth game. And there is no shame in losing to a team with as much talent as ND in a bowl game. Bottom line, Harbor will get all the development he needs at SC and get to the NFL if he wants. He will get to play top tier programs in the SEC and will play Clemson every year, too. And the chances that Michigan wins a natty in the next four years are still quite slim despite being the best they've been in awhile.

When I was a student 1988-1993 there was a young preacher in the diag, almost every day. Was his name Mike ?
February 1st, 2023 at 3:05 PM ^
By Preacher Mike's standard, S. Carolina's loss to Notre Dame was a "monster loss."
PM said:
Ummm, they [S. Carolina] had two monster wins at the end of the season
Those "monster wins" were: 63-38 over Tennessee, and 31-30 over Clemson. To him, "monster" must not refer to points, since they beat Clemson by only 1 point. So I used the same standard. They lost to Notre Dame 45-38, which is a 7 point loss. Therefore, using his standard, that was a "monster loss" to Notre Dame. You're welcome for the lesson.

In yesterday's post & thread about whether this young man would really ever go to Michigan, the track angle was dissected with great specificity, by people who appeared to actually know what Harbor ran vs other recent Olympic hopefuls at similar ages.
In their informed opinions his planning to put track as a priority over football was a pipedream - his times are nearly a full second behind others in a sport where times are measured to the tenths & hundreds of seconds.
For myself, without any knowledge of whether his Olympic hopes are realistic, as soon as he said keeping his weight below 220 was his 1st priority I lowered my interest in him as a croot by 70%.
He was 1st billed as a can't miss, potential high round 1 pick as an Edge, who could provide bonus value by being used some on offense. When that changed to tall/fast athlete with no interest in playing D & marginal skills on O, well... I mean I'd take him sure, but this guy is not Megatron 2.0.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:49 PM ^
That’s not what that discussion said. At least not fully. There were/are two differing perspectives there, and you chose to say “in their informed perspectives” as if it was a uniform view.
February 1st, 2023 at 2:01 PM ^
I was one of those people. I don't think you accurately describe the discussion.
Harbor has times for his age comparable to U.S. Olympic sprinters in HS. He can probably qualify for the U.S. Trials. It's just that typically, it takes several additional years of development to perform consistently at a higher level. It's extremely unlikely he has this breakthrough next year. But he's absolutely an Olympic level talent. If he focused on track I'd expect him to be top 8 in the U.S. professional ranks in a few years.
February 1st, 2023 at 2:22 PM ^
"In a few years" i.e. after his football eligibility would have expired anyway!
It's a pipedream to be back burnering football to shoot for the '24 Olympics - this isn't my informed take, it's yours!
My entire point was if he's placing higher priority on making the '24 Olympics than he is playing football, to the point he wants to keep his weight below 220 - this isn't a huge loss for Michigan football.
At least not for the 2023 season. Maybe in '24 he puts track on the back burner & starts to get himself in condition to play Edge? Then I want to offer him all the NIL to transfer to Michigan!
February 1st, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
Yeah, they were nice wins (Clemson, ehhh, they were massively over rated), but let's not pretend like a program that hasn't won double-digit games since 2013 is about to turn into some powerhouse. They've done a nice job getting recruits the past 2 classes, but it's going to take some time given where they were under Muschamp. Rattler returning on his Nth year of eligibility somehow might keep them afloat, but they just have a talent gap still.
February 1st, 2023 at 11:12 PM ^
They won their conference and made the CFP. You've nailed it
February 1st, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
S Carolina will be a force in the SEC with Beamer.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
No they won’t. Bama until Saban leaves and UGA 2 tiers above SC.
SC lucky to compete with LSU and UF and Tennessee for next SEC upstart - but remember UT and Oklahoma joining the conference soon.
Having Clemson in state competing further for same recruits makes the SC job even harder.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
Does being "a force" mean they beat Uga? Cuz yeah, no i don't see it.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
Recruiting is weird.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
I don't think I ever would have spelled Nyckoles right anyways. Good luck to him, onward and go blue!
February 1st, 2023 at 1:16 PM ^
Kid wasn’t ever coming to Michigan. Only those trying to sell scripts for the pay wall gave it any merit. Good luck to the kid and Go Blue!!
