Welcome and Go Blue!!

He didn’t even make it to USC it seems…that is a big time recruiting win for UM. Think Joshua Uche clone in my opinion. Also, sophomore transfer from coastal Carolina would have typically not been an easy transfer…I wonder if the Santa rumblings are true.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
A freshman from NEB and a sophomore from Coastal Carolina. There has to be something that changed.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:15 PM ^
SANTA has arrived in Ann Arbor.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:21 PM ^
We need a Santa tracker.

NORAD put U-M Admissions on DEFCON 2.

Personally, I use @SantaJOno on twitter dot com

Santa says "Merry Portal"!
December 18th, 2022 at 2:27 PM ^
Freshman transfers were never hard. Trying to transfer in more than two years' worth of credits is very difficult. A sophomore coming in after 3 semesters really shouldn't be an issue.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:35 PM ^
Don’t kill the Santa vibe! 🎅
December 18th, 2022 at 2:35 PM ^
Mig,
How likely is it that a president would ever tell admissions to expedite or prioritize athletic admissions. Does that happen?
The Santa speculation seems specious. Just wondering if you have any insight. I doubt athletic admissions even registers with the President's office.
December 18th, 2022 at 3:31 PM ^
I think Santa is aware of the importance to athletics in getting their players in. The idea of him getting personally involved and telling admissions to push players through sounds like a fantasy to me.
I think if it ever became a real issue, like if there was an internal debate about rewriting admissions policies for transfers, that Santa would perhaps weigh in on the side of the coaches.

Maybe these young guys are taking the Shea Patterson “start over” mentality. Especially with 4 years of eligibility remaining
December 18th, 2022 at 2:00 PM ^
Got damn Harbaugh and this staff are cooking in the portal. I love it.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
I think he is gonna keep killing it in the portal. When kids have had a year or 2 of college, I think they can sort through more of the lies and bullshit and appreciate Harbaugh and UM a bit more then when they are high school recruits.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:39 PM ^
And on the other side of the coin, coaches have a year or 2 more of film and performance, and can sort out who has IT. Real knows real, works both ways, and in our favor.
December 18th, 2022 at 4:34 PM ^
Agreed. And on the flip side, the coaches have more information on the kids.
Going to the playoffs two years in a row sure helps. Success breeds success.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:09 PM ^
Harbaugh is on fire at the portal. Our Edge next year promises to be really good. Welcome to UM!!!!
December 18th, 2022 at 2:09 PM ^
This is like the 12 Days of Christmas all over again! I love the portal now!! Welcome to Ann Arbor, Josiah - once again the home of Championship Football!!
December 18th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
I like when the portal giveth
December 18th, 2022 at 2:12 PM ^
Honestly, the portal has been seriously net positive so far this year (all being the only negative, but going into the year he was presumed to be graduating anyways). I’m sure some will transfer after playoffs but at this point, WOW.

"Anybody need a punter?"
December 18th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
Embarrassment of riches. It's good to be the king. Where's my piss boy?
December 18th, 2022 at 3:02 PM ^
The piss boy looks like the King. Wait for the shake!
December 18th, 2022 at 4:40 PM ^
Classic! He was le garçon de pisse.
My favorite line in that movie was when Brooks was playing the infamous Torquemada in the Spanish Inquisition. The condemned would plea for mercy but Torquemada would not give it and the condemned would say "you can't Torquemada anything".
December 18th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
Welcome!
December 18th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
Welcome to UM Josiah. Look forward to watching you sack the opposition next fall
December 18th, 2022 at 2:13 PM ^
Giddyup!
December 18th, 2022 at 2:13 PM ^
Awesome. Hoping we get that corner from Virginia, add another RB, and another QB option to be in place of Bowman.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:16 PM ^
Wow, get me a TE, a CB, a thunder back, and a backup QB and we will have already plugged all of our potential holes.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:20 PM ^
Look like wilt put another CB for the OT from Stanford. Makes me wonder if we are out on the other 23 recruits we were going after.
December 18th, 2022 at 3:43 PM ^
Why would it make you wonder that?
We effectively have no scholarship limits now. We have NIL. We have a team that is crushing, and still ascending. I see no reason to infer some correlation between another OL transfer, and being "out" on 23(!) other recruits?
Please explain.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:46 PM ^
AJ Barner (captain TE as JR at indiana) is the likely Te, likely to commit in the next few days. He is on campus now.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:58 PM ^
I still say we need a wr. Anthony isn’t the answer imo.
December 18th, 2022 at 3:31 PM ^
Agreed. I'm hoping Clemons and Morris have a huge impact next year. Anthony had one play last year and people think he's the next star receiver here. I haven't seen anything from him since the play that got us all excited for him
December 18th, 2022 at 4:09 PM ^
Meh. I’m not ready to write him off just yet. He balls out in the playoffs and everyone will be singing his praises again. I was ready to call for CJ to be benched and he’s my favorite buckeye destroyer of all time.
December 19th, 2022 at 3:55 AM ^
I mean techinally he made two plays in the MSU game that were tds not just one. I wouldn't write Anthony off yet for next year, presuming he doesn't transfer. Think he just had issues with blocking, route running, etc this year that caused the coaches not play him as much. Things that could potentially improve for next year, he has the raw physical tools.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:18 PM ^
Excellent portal success continues. I’m wondering how active Georgia, Alabama and OSU are in going after transfers? Are some of the biggest schools less interested in the portal, making it easier for Michigan to have this kind of success? Or might players who’ve played college football have a better perspective on what’s most important in choosing a school than high schoolers?
December 18th, 2022 at 2:34 PM ^
Great question. It’s probably complicated.
It’s so bleedingly obvious why Michigan is a good choice of program to anyone who isn’t an 18-year-old whose parents are forcing him to get that bag asap.
One thing I’d guess is true: the NIL merchants have a harder time bringing in transfer guys at a position where they just paid a high schooler $2M and promised him a starting gig.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:19 PM ^
This is fun.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:20 PM ^
Surprised he didn’t want to join the SWARM 😂
December 18th, 2022 at 2:20 PM ^
Harbaugh and Co doing work in the portal. Beating the guy, who I was told was comin', at his own game after beating him on the field. Lets keep the good vibes going!!
December 18th, 2022 at 2:25 PM ^
this was a great pickup for sure
December 18th, 2022 at 2:26 PM ^
Hell yeah!!!
December 18th, 2022 at 2:32 PM ^
Holy smokes, we are killing it in the portal! This is a great pick up.
December 18th, 2022 at 2:37 PM ^
I am very confused. It looks like yesterday, receiving the Moore award for a second consecutive season, would position Michigan as “OL U” (not to be confused with Olu).
Over the past few years, Michigan has been feeding the NFL with a “steady diet” of defensive linemen, which positions the Maize & Blue as “DL U”.
So, which is it? DL U? OL U? Maybe just “LU”? Both?
Go Blue!
