The Threat Level is Infinite.

I just scanned their message board. Apparently we never got any better after 2020, they just got worse.
Or we have gotten better, but soon we "will be baited into guaranteeing wins over OSU" which of course never works out.

Merry Christmas Ohio! Hope all of your gifts are wrapped in blue.
November 29th, 2022 at 8:36 AM ^
My favorite part of the last day or so is that after the dread of losing to us twice in a row has worn off, every OSU fan/media person has decided they NEED to control the narrative on why they lost. They may have lost twice in a row but at least they think they were right about why!
November 29th, 2022 at 9:33 AM ^
Currently they are arguing that they had a much better offensive success rate than Michigan so they really out played us. It was just a failure to execute on the big plays that cost them. The connection between Michigan’s lower offensive success rate and their high risk defensive strategy that directly resulted in the big plays is apparently lost on them.
I really hope this is the lesson they take from this and keep playing a defense that requires perfection from all their players. Watching Michigan players break 50 plus yard TD plays against Ohio State will always be fun.

I love watching the internal struggle happening in their tiny little lizard brains revolving around our teams level of competence. They so desperately want to say we're terrible at football, a useless team that trips over their own feet, and could never beat anybody, but at the same time we dominated them, at home, and their ONLY argument for them to get into the playoff is that they lost to a good football team, which they REFUSE to say. It's so beautiful.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:45 PM ^
Paying zero attention to 11W has kept my sports fan quality of life quite high. I am not risking it by engaging with the other team’s fan website. The only narrative I care to indulge is this: 45-23.
November 28th, 2022 at 11:34 PM ^
Sure, it knocks some of the sheen off 42-27, but...actually no it doesn't. Last two seasons combined we outscored them 87-50. We take those.
November 29th, 2022 at 5:43 AM ^
I would definitely take the last two seasons. Funny how a football game can elevate one's spirt.
One thing that was said in the 11 Warriors piece was more than a bit disturbing. Here's the quote:
Or can you? Because right now it looks like the Buckeyes are one USC upset away from getting in anyway (not that's something I actually want right now), and once the College Football Playoff expands, as long as the Buckeyes win 10 or more games they're good to go. So who knows what this conversation looks like when that happens?
What makes the Game so big is that it is largely win or your national championship dream is over. It is an all or nothing scenario. This time our future is bright and the Buckeyes' future this year is dismal.
Will increasing the number of teams eligible for the playoffs diminish both The Game and winning division and conference championships?
November 29th, 2022 at 6:45 AM ^
i wouldn't take the opinions of any one person on 11W to reflect the sentiments of the entire fan base.
However, the idea of OSU looking at all toward the 12-team playoff suggests to me that the poster is giving up somewhat on beating us as a realistic goal. 13 months ago, I'd never thought I'd hear that sort of talk from anyone in their base.
The post wasn't full of the greatest analysis, but at least the poster recognized that Harbaugh now has their number.

Think of it this way: In 2017, Alabama lost to Auburn but then beat Clemson and UGA to win the CFP. Would Bama fans trade the National Championship for a win in the Iron Bowl?
Last year UGA lost to Alabama in the SECCG then the CFP, beating Alabama. Do UGA fans really care that they didn't win the SEC in 2021?
November 29th, 2022 at 9:11 AM ^
Exactly. I'm always amazed with people who think one game means more than a national championship.
Nick Saban doesn't have a single undefeated season at Alabama ... and anybody would trade resumes with them over the past 15 years.
November 29th, 2022 at 12:01 PM ^
Nick Saban doesn't have a single undefeated season at Alabama
Technically true; he has two (2009 and 2020).
November 29th, 2022 at 8:50 AM ^
Will increasing the number of teams eligible for the playoffs diminish both The Game and winning division and conference championships?
Yes, 100% yes.
November 29th, 2022 at 8:33 AM ^
Bo - let me get this straight. You're telling me that we scored nearly as many points in this year's game (45) as what they scored in the last 2 games combined (50)? Why, that's astonishing. I find that hard to believe. You must have made an error in your math. Can you crunch the numbers again, just to be sure?
November 29th, 2022 at 9:05 AM ^
The fact that they're exactly halfway to hanging a hundred on us is not lost on Ryan Day. Poor guy. And he's still waiting for someone to knock him from third base.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:03 AM ^
"87-50" is the new "42-27"!
November 29th, 2022 at 12:49 AM ^
I will say this: generally, as a fan base, they seem much more sensible than Sparty.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:52 AM ^
100%. The folks on the RCMB are morons and completely insane.
November 29th, 2022 at 9:43 AM ^
That "Time for War with the UM Machine" post on RCMB might be the single most insane, delusional and outright unhinged thing I've ever seen posted on a fan site.
November 29th, 2022 at 8:08 AM ^
Talk about damning with faint praise. You're not wrong, it's just a very low bar.
November 29th, 2022 at 2:12 AM ^
Honestly, most weeks Threat Level: Michigan is usually an entertaining read in the same way watching low-budget B horror movies are: overwrought production, spastic flailing, and overacted cheesy dialogue. It's my sports fandom equivalent of junk food.
And, much like junk food, I have to ration my intake after Michigan victories over aOSU given the overwhelming salt content.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:26 AM ^
They’re 11-1W now
November 29th, 2022 at 8:11 AM ^
LMAO!! You win...
November 29th, 2022 at 9:09 AM ^
This.

Such a sane well balanced fan base.
November 29th, 2022 at 8:58 AM ^
Ok I WILL say if you compare 11W to RCMB, it is an incredibly sane and well-balanced fan base
November 28th, 2022 at 10:53 PM ^
And the universe has finally come back into equilibrium. Long may it continue.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:54 PM ^
This is hilarious and made me think; OSU used to be Defensive Back U what the hell happened?
A lot of heroes on Saturday, but IMO the difference of Michigan's vs OSU's defensive back end wrote the story of the game.
November 28th, 2022 at 11:59 PM ^
OSU obviously has great secondary talent as proven in the NFL and draft..but the talent hasn't always been coached right at OSU because they havnt really had a great defense since Tressel...I think one of Meyers teams had a good late season run on defense but even that was after a rough start that cost them a loss.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:05 AM ^
'The scheme that they played on Saturday didn't exactly lend itself to great secondary play. Stuffing 7-8 guys in the box to stop the run left their CB's and safeties in a position where they had to either make a sensational play or go back and line up for our extra point try.
As an example, on that second TD by Johnson, he caught the ball alone in the middle of the field, turned up, and starting hauling ass at the safety who was flat-footed and also alone in the middle of the field. What does that safety do? He's got no angle on Johnson, has no idea which way Johnson is going to cut, has no idea which way to turn, Johnson is flying toward him, and he's got no help. I have no idea what you can tell a safety to do; maybe turn one way and hope you get lucky in Johnson not seeing your choice.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:06 AM ^
I would have felt bad for the guy except he made a bad choice on where to attend school.

The writing is shockingly poor. It makes one grateful for MGoBlog.

November 29th, 2022 at 1:12 PM ^
I think Ginter is pretty good. Threat Level isn't in the same league as Opponent Watch, of course, but it's usually worth reading.
November 28th, 2022 at 10:58 PM ^
Maybe Izzo could talk about ohio.
Go Blue.

November 28th, 2022 at 11:23 PM ^
This is the first thing I have ever read at this site and it is pure gold!
November 28th, 2022 at 11:30 PM ^
"What did we learn?
I dunno, nothing?"
And that is why you fail.
November 29th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
To be fair, Ginter does spend quite a few words roundaboutly telling the reader what he learned, which was essentially that a program that makes tidy sums of cash should probably not be losing in that manner at home, in a situation where the implications are huge. He did sort of work himself at least partly though that line of reasoning. What was missing is direct criticism of how Ohio State seems to perceive itself, which is something that certainly affects how they play and something many on the outside have spoken about in the last couple days.
November 28th, 2022 at 11:32 PM ^
Not from that article, but doesn't deserve it's own thread. Three Key Stats has a nice gem at the bottom.
BONUS STATS & INFO
After being held to 10 rushing yards in the first half, Michigan racked up 242 rushing yards for an average of 10.1 per carry in the second half… Ohio State ran 42% of its plays from Michigan's side of the field, while the Wolverines ran just 28% of their plays from Ohio State's side of the 50… Michigan averaged an astounding 10.9 yards per passing attempt to Ohio State's 7.2 yards per attempt… The Wolverines went for an average of 11.4 yards on first down in the game… Ohio State's second-half possessions went: punt, punt, punt, field goal, interception, interception… C.J. Stroud suffered his first game with multiple interceptions of the season and for just the second time in his career… After going three-for-three on third down on the opening drive, Ohio State went 2-for-13 on third down the rest of the game… For the first time in the long and storied history of Eleven Warriors, Michigan has a win against Ohio State in Columbus… In just four seasons, Ryan Day has already lost more games to Michigan than Jim Tressel, and Urban Meyer combined to lose in 18 years… Tom Brady was a rookie in the NFL the last time Michigan beat Ohio State in back-to-back seasons… The announced attendance was 106,787.
And I would just like to reiterate:
Ohio State's second-half possessions went: punt, punt, punt, field goal, interception, interception
November 29th, 2022 at 7:02 AM ^
So after their scripted drive, we held them to 15% conversions on 3rd down the rest of the game - and they were 0-1 on 4th down. Phenomenal.
Minter should win the Broyles Award.
November 29th, 2022 at 9:25 AM ^
Can we give Gattis's Broyles Award to Moore?
November 29th, 2022 at 9:45 AM ^
Every other assistant on that team last year deserved the Broyles more than Gattis. And then he shit on the program anyway after they gifted it to him
November 28th, 2022 at 11:45 PM ^
Should probably change the name at this point to 11guyswhodontlikegettinghit dot com
November 29th, 2022 at 2:01 AM ^
Elevengardeners is what I'm thinking.
November 29th, 2022 at 9:47 AM ^
This! They are now and forever 11 Gardeners (not to be confused with 11 Devin Gardners, which would be a tougher, more well rounded team than this year's Buckeyes)
November 29th, 2022 at 10:49 AM ^
I mean... 11 Devin Gardners would have a good chance of beating this OSU team.
