Ack -- that is small. :(
The money sentence: "Day was born and raised on third base, and met his wife, Christina Ourania Spirou, whom he calls Nina, when they played together on the same tee ball team when she was seven and he was six.[37] "
November 28th, 2022 at 12:06 PM ^
How romantic.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:48 PM ^
Howevu, pretty impressive feat being stuck on third base while having 3 kids.
November 28th, 2022 at 1:13 PM ^
Yeah, about that…she’s been meaning to tell him.
November 28th, 2022 at 3:05 PM ^
Hard to lose in tee ball when starting on third base.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:03 PM ^
"Day in as a pinch runner on 3rd, takes a huge lead off the base, and uh oh, he's gonna be picked off..."

couldn't resist adding a visual

best visual of all time

Gold Jerry, gold!

On the one hand, wikipedia edits are a pretty low form of comedy.
On the other hand, it's amazing how many buckeye fans went from incensed about Harbaugh's "third base" comment to basically agreeing with it. Wonder would could have changed their minds like that...

i can think of between 42-45 and 27-23 reasons for that
November 28th, 2022 at 1:14 PM ^
I thought the tribal council agreed we were just going with 45-23.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:27 PM ^
Boy is that ever correct. My OSU buddies went from "how dare they insult our beloved HC the great Ryan Day" at noon on Saturday to "get that fuckhead loser out of here, he's Cooper 2.0" by 4.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
Starting with Woody, OSU coaches have been fired for cause.
Ryan Day will be fired "just because" he can't beat Michigan.
November 28th, 2022 at 1:18 PM ^
That was Cooper. Day will be one step ahead pf the posse and go to the NFL. Arizona Cardinals won’t care that he can’t beat Michigan. They will just be impressed by his youthful beard.
November 28th, 2022 at 2:30 PM ^
The Arizona Cardinals just received a first-hand lesson why they should not go to college looking for a coach. And after Urban's debacle, it will be even harder for Day. Sure, he has some NFL experience, but I don't see a program taking a risk on him. He's stuck at OSU.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
Another gem: "Ohio State was utterly embarrassed 45-23, and managed to score only three points in the second half[35]."
November 28th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
Ryan Day is an insult to 3rd Bass
November 28th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
He needs to MC Search for a new job. The fans arent going to be Pete Nice to him if he loses again.

Pop goes the weasel, 'cuz the weasel goes pop...
November 28th, 2022 at 12:23 PM ^
Ha! Nice. It should also mention he is the face of Just for men beard coloring and head and shoulders shampoo.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:25 PM ^
Wiki (or some sad OSU person) already fixed it
November 28th, 2022 at 12:33 PM ^
You know I hate OSU as much as the next person. But Day actually seems like a person who has overcome some difficulties in life (father's early death by suicide being the prime thing). While I hope he loses every game against U of M, I can't really be against the guy.
<ducks>
November 28th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
Didn't know that. That's awful.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:39 PM ^
the michigan difference is that we can nuance genuine empathy for a guy who has done well and it doesn't get tossed out the window when we want him to lose a certain football game.
go to 11W and up until halftime on saturday, harbaugh had been the unceasing butt of every foul joke and third-grader name demolition ou can think of.
November 28th, 2022 at 1:53 PM ^
Makes me hope Day gets pretty much any other job so I can pull for the guy to succeed.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:41 PM ^
When 98 committed the personal foul on the out of bounds hit, the camera panned to Day who immediately made the "you're out of here" gesture to pull him from the game. Not a chance in hell that Urban Meyer, Mel Tucker or Dantonio even consider doing such a thing.
That move showed who Day really is - a gentleman who does have some sense of honor. That will likely be his downfall in Columbus as the fanbase doesn't want that.
November 28th, 2022 at 12:44 PM ^
Yeah, at the very least Day was pissed that his player's lack of discipline cost the team
With MSU, the lack of discipline is the point
November 28th, 2022 at 12:47 PM ^
My son played against Ryan's son a few times in football the past couple years. Ryan was always a class act and treated everyone with respect. I love seeing the Buckeyes lose, but I think he is a good guy overall.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:24 PM ^
Agree. It is difficult to hate Day. His pre and post game press conferences were class.
November 28th, 2022 at 1:09 PM ^
He has gone a long way to destigmatizing the issues around mental health, donated millions to mental health research, handled the Harry Miller situation with total class, and by all accounts an all around solid guy. His son plays QB for the same high school program I did growing up - everyone only has good things to say about the family.
Even the most delusional of OSU fans are all willingly to admit Urban has some moral shortcomings. I would much rather my son play football for Ryan Day than Urban. Do I think that Day will win as many national championships as Urban? No way. For all of his moral shortcomings, Urban was a sociopath obsessed with winning. Ryan is competitive, but I don't think he has the same Captain Ahab type personality of a Saban/Belichick/Urban.
I think most of the OSU fanbase is re-examining their willingness to accept a Faustian bargain in the light of recent events.

Came here to say something similar. I chuckled at the "third base" edit but then read the part about his father's suicide and quickly pivoted to understanding that there are many more important things in life. I've never been particularly close with my dad, but I can't imagine the ripple effect it could've had on me had he killed himself when I was still in elementary school. Day seems like a good man despite the fact that he coaches for the Buckeyes.
November 28th, 2022 at 1:02 PM ^
beautiful..... i did a similar edit to dantonio when he 'retired'....
November 28th, 2022 at 2:33 PM ^
"Though they struggled in games[30][31] against a 1-7 Northwestern and a 6-4 Maryland, Ohio State managed to remain undefeated heading into the matchup against #3 Michigan for the series' second matchup of 11-0 teams (the first since 2006)[32], and the third meeting between top-5 teams since they met in 2016[33]. Despite being favored by eight points[34], Ohio State was utterly embarrassed 45-23, and managed to score only three points in the second half[35]. With this loss, Ohio State failed to reach the Big Ten Championship for the second consecutive season, and Ryan Day fell to 1-2 against the Wolverines, becoming the first Ohio State head coach to lose multiple games to Michigan in the 21st century. Day is also 0-2 since infamously stating that he would "hang 100 on them."[36]"

It's not there anymore, but I screenshot someone's Ohio Stadium edit.
