Hey man, I have no idea what you mean by this, but I went to Rutgers and later your Carolina blue, live in Albuquerque, and root for Michigan, so this post is my personal nexus.

Seriously though, Chapel Hill is such an amazing place.

Going - don't know much other than it is a night game and we're taking the train from Newark. I'm sure it has no vibe but it's the only place in the B1G where I haven't seen Michigan play.

After next week I still have to visit Nebraska and Minnesota - but they're adding teams faster than I can keep up!

Piscataway is a dump of significant proportions. But...it still makes East Lansing look like Love Canal on a bad day.

Used to leave in NJ, and once drove past the Middlesex Mall in Piscataway. The lights in the sign were partially out, so the sign just said M_____sex Mall. It sounds best in a Homer-Simpson-sees-donuts sort of voice.
And that's all I remember of Piscataway.

If you saw M v M at the Metrodome, does that still count in a Big Ten tour?

Train update from aboard NJ transit.
Someone earlier this week asked whether you could have all the tickets for your party on the same phone if you’re using the (quite good) NJ transit app. I just asked the conductor and he said “depends on the phone but usually yes.” So take that for what you will.
Also, if you are taking the train, be sure to check the schedule. Because it’s a night game, it’ll be down to one train per hour (leaving at :25 past the hour) by the time people are leaving the game.

You're "sure it has no vibe" - what makes you say that? I've attended every time Michigan has played at Rutgers and the vibe is F.U.N. fun! It's the birthplace of college football! Get yourself a sandwich from the grease trucks. Go Blue!

This is the original Counterpunt from the free programs you're knocking here. He gets a pass.

I’m gonna be honest. I’ve been going to the blog daily since 2015. Punt/Counterpunt is probably the only thing I’ve never read. But I guess it’s a thing.

Not the MGoBlog reincarnation of Punt/Counterpunt. The original one that was in the free paper programs they used to pass out at Michigan football games. Ken "Sky" Walker and Nick Roumel were the duo.

Rx, before you criticize toddlers, you are missing an apostrophe in moms and depending on where the apostrophe goes, possibly an "s" after cellphone. I do like the question mark, which I am told is becoming a dying form of punctuation.

I do miss seeing the proper use of semicolons. They seem to be restricted to legal docs now. Sad ...

I don't know about Michigan bars near the Rutgers stadium. I've only been to Professor Thom's in the East Village.
If you've never been to Rutgers, it's important to know that the university is spread out on five campuses. The stadium is on Busch Campus in Piscataway, on the north side of the Raritan River. Rutgers has an extensive, free campus bus system (think Walt Disney World resorts) that connects all the campuses. The NJ Transit train station in New Brunswick is near the College Avenue campus.
Most of the tailgating at Rutgers happens in the Iots just north of the stadium, nearest to Busch Campus.
The North Jersey and Philly U-M alumni clubs have catered tailgates, but I believe the tickets for these are all sold out.
Rutgers now has a "boardwalk" on the road leading to the stadium with food trucks, a ferris wheel and carnival games.
I went to the Rutgers-Nebraska game a few weeks ago, and Nebraska fans had their tailgates in the Jersey Mike's lots on Livingston Campus.

Prof Thom’s been closed for two years.

Hmmmm. The only time I went there was for the Horror, and its closing has corresponded with M's resurgence. I know correlation isn't causation, but in this case, I'm willing to believe.

I believe Tiff’s in Morris Plains, and there was also some momentum to make Six Points Pub in Bloomfield an unofficial game-watch spot in the Montclair area. Haven’t been able to get over there yet though.

Logged in to restore OPs votes to positive territory. I'm not sure how a legacy Counterpunt author gets negged here of all places. I mean, as a great writer, the post title was meh, but it's clearly you.
Sorry I can't make it. Good luck in the haze of Axe. Thanks for your time as CP. Go Blue!

Hey all,
I'm not really sure how to post my own thread. I used to have an account on here but it's been over five years since I've used. (Just recovered my password!) I always browse but never post. I thought this was a good post to leap frog onto as I have similar questions. I am going to my first Michigan game with my girlfriend and traveling from the Northeast. (30th birthday present) I am not an alum but have been a fan for life as my dad attended in the 80's. We are staying in Piscataway and were curious of any bars that Michigan fans might be hanging out at/tailgates that UM fans might attend? We would love to be around a Michigan crowd. We have never been to New Jersey so any advice on bars and gameplan for the day would be much appreciated!
Thanks all!

I only know of two UM bars in the area and I wouldn't say they're close. As someone pointed out there's Professor Thom's in the village in NYC. The other is McSwiggan's in Hoboken. If you're going to the game you're better off tailgating. It's actually a decent tailgating scene.

My father, son, daughter and I are going. Sunday we're going to Wings at Rangers too. First trip to Rutgers tho.
November 1st, 2022 at 9:48 PM ^
To be honest, the area around the campus is a wasteland. It’s got no scene whatsoever.
if you want a bar scene, stay in Manhattan as long as possible then head out just for the game. It’s very possible there’s a Michigan tailgate on campus in some parking lot somewhere but I f do not know.

Yep. I was at the 78-0 game in 2016.
For one the later TDs, the Rutgers band played The Victors -- probably because they were bored.
