After all the dissapointment of this season it can ALL be wiped away with a win today and a Sweet 16 banner could be achieved...It would change the perception of this season Greatly!!
Go Blue!!!!!!
All the disappointment has been washed away already. We're in the Round of 32.
It's all house money from here on out.
Yeah, that win against CSU, coming back and winning comfortably like we did, that was sweet. With all the struggles we've had this year, knowing how good the team can be but not having the maturity - I guess - to sustain 'greatness', it was good to see them gather their resolve and come back against the Rams. Who knows, maybe we'll gather some resolve today.
Maybe I'm looking at the wrong side of this but W-L-W-L-W-L is just indicative of an undisciplined team. I know we are underdogs but a win over Tennessee would be so amazing. At least it breaks the curse of the up down season.
Very true
Side question: does the NCAA (or some other body) actually "award" these banners (e.g. Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight, Final Four, etc.) or do the schools just decide to have them made whenever they want? Getting to the third round of a six-round tournament doesn't exactly seem like a cause for "official" commemoration... almost akin to a participation trophy.
The NCAA does not award banners. The school chooses which accomplishments to commemorate with banners, and then orders/designs/pays for them.

That seems very arbitrary then - you can choose to hang a banner for whatever you want. Somewhat reduces the significance as compared to an officially awarded trophy.

Definitely arbitrary but still referenced by media and S16/E8/F4 are accomplishments worthy of celebration.
Last year the UCLA coach (after making the F4) said we only hang banners for national championships. Talk about a hard ass!

And yes, I know cheatin' ass Wooden won 10 titles 50 years ago!

But the NFL gives them to teams. That’s why the Colts have an “AFC Finalist” banner. - Indy native (cries in corner)

Examples: Illinois MBB last year per B1G title last season. UCF in football a couple of years ago because they went undefeated. It's like beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

UCF was a bit different - they were actually deemed as "national champion" by one of the NCAA recognized elector methods. By the strict rules of the NCAA, they are a "co-" national champion for that year along with Alabama (who was the consensus champion as well as "co-"... just not the *unanimous* champion).

"... almost akin to a participation trophy."
Oh, so this is an "Everybody gets a trophy!" thing? Really?
I got home from work just over an hour ago. I'm ready to go to sleep and wake up just in time to beat some motherfucking Tennessee ass.
Go Blue!
Beat Tennessee
Sleep like a baby, then cheer like a grown a$$ man
In 2011, it was.... this
On our way to a 75 - 45 first round tournament victory. At the bar I was at (in Tennessee) I continued to order "blue shots" to celebrate 2 hours of domination. Maybe not a great choice, but memorable.
Zack Novak at Power Forward (seriously with that team WTF) went 14 and 10. Stu, Timmy and Vogrich all had 11. Tobias Harris put in 19 for Bruce Pearl's Vols that day.
In 2014, it was this....
Michigan 73 Tennessee 71
Michigan got up big and Cuonzo Martin's Vols erased a 15 point deficit. There were no blue shots on this occasion as I had just a few days prior had surgery to repair a torn left patellar.
Jordan had 15 and made it all feel better, while Stauskas 14, GR3 13, Caris 10, lead a top heavy starter squad all playing 30+ minutes (with Walton at point), over Jordan McRae's 24 for the Vols.
Do it again today boys. One more time!
Hopefully the Vols have a short memory, lol

guess their memory is intact, lol

Thank god they don't blame us for Joe Milton! :)
The Peyton butt-hurt never goes away for Tennessee, does it!?
nice recap jmo. here's to a third equally satisfying result.

And no life-changing knee injuries in Jamaica!
I really the 3's fall for Blue this afternoon...
Go Blue!
It’s not really a heat check if the guy is primarily a three ball shooter and he gets the ball in rhythm.
The team showed some maturity against the Rams. Didn't get flustered, kept at it, survived and advanced. I like what I saw in the faces of the team, some real desire. I know they will ride that wave against the Vols, would be great to ride it into the Sweet 16!
Go Blue!

Just win, baby.
March 19th, 2022 at 12:05 PM ^
Just win and survive. Given how bad some of the B1G teams looked on Friday and still won, as long as Michigan wins by a single point is all that matters.

Heading to Indy soon from Cincy with my son for his first Michigan game. Hoping to snag some tickets when we get into town.
Look for Kentucky fans. They'll be the ones with their tails between their legs heading home.
I'm at the bar with Michigan gear on. They already started playing Mr brightside...
C'mon Michigan, open up my eager eyes!
