More Buckeye Excuses for their loss
cj stroud now is claiming that the team had the flu running through it and that was the reason they lost...

Really love the not to make excuses but remarks coming out of C-town...

Had just typed this out to start a forum, but I'll post it here instead:
Stroud met with members of the media ahead of his Heisman trip & had the following to say:
“I don’t know what the narrative is and I’m not trying to set the narrative, I just know that when it comes down to playing football, I’ll take Ohio State against any team. College football’s a weird year this year. We lost two games, and I don’t think neither of those teams are better than us, but you gotta give them respect. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about who’s the better team, it’s about who plays better that day.
When you take into consideration what we’re going through that week, preparing for the team up north and everybody kind of having the flu and things like that – of course I don’t make excuses – but you kind of got to take that into consideration. It kind of does matter. I’ll take Ohio State, I’ll take my brothers against anybody.”
He then said that he remembers feeling more tired after some drives than usual, which he kind of half-hearted blamed on his sickness (more likely should have blamed Hutch lol)
On Gattis's comments about OSU being a soft team, Ryan Day said "I don't really think about that much at all", while Stroud said:
“I’m logged out of everything, I don’t know what’s going on. But y’all want to talk about physicality, I don’t think there’s any team more physical than us. Of course in those games I’m not in the trenches, so I really don’t know. I’m not looking down there. But my guys did the best they could at the end of the day."
At the end of the day, it's nothing too inflammatory, but it is definitely fun to be on this side of things for once haha

"I don’t think there’s any team more physical than us. Of course in those games I’m not in the trenches, so I really don’t know. I’m not looking down there"
So OSU is really physical, it's just never been caught on tape.

"A lot of people are saying that we're so physical, even the most physical some say. People tell me all the time how much more physical we are than the other teams, it's true."

I actually love his response. The more that ohio looks for excuses rather than trying to determine the real reasons they lost, the better. I'd love it if they spent all of next spring saying, "we would've won The Game but for the flu" rather than "what are you doing today to beat Michigan?"
December 8th, 2021 at 4:04 PM ^
Next thing you know Day and the players will claim that they actually won, the game was stolen, there should be an investigation....
And 68% of buckeye fans will believe them..

Yeah well...give us back 2016 and then cry me a river.

Darned illegal mail-in touchdowns!

I see where you're going and I like it, but be careful -- remember what we said after the MSU game?

Sounds like how a former President would talk!

"That scoreboard is fraudulent. Find me 16 more points."
December 8th, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
When the score was 10-7 they were getting ready to win that football game and frankly, they did win that football game. Stop the steal!

At least he could talk. :)

Most people understand "no politics" means no support for anything that can be construed as right wing.

“I don’t know what the narrative is and I’m not trying to set the narrative
aka - I know what the narrative is and I'm trying to change it because it sucks to sit on a L for a full year, to get pasted by a rival, to have a soft OL and DL, to watch said rival win the conference, to watch said rival challenge for a national championship, and to listen to a fanbase that will only accept a pasting from Clemson and/or Alabama.

The "...I don't think neither..." interjection in the first paragraph is scintillating :)
December 8th, 2021 at 3:06 PM ^
It sounds like someone at OSU told Stroud to say he's "logged out of everything" - but he isn't actually following that advice.
December 8th, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
I bet he really has been logged out of everything. He's been buckling down to make sure his final exams go well this week. He's really been hitting the books talking only to his study group. You know, get those academics in order. Had to hear about the Heisman news from a classmate.

If he's logged out, how is he taking all of his online classes??
December 8th, 2021 at 3:08 PM ^
The amount of contradictions and irony in these statements is making my head spin
December 8th, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
He should transfer to Auburn so he can play in the Irony Bowl.
December 8th, 2021 at 3:12 PM ^
But y’all want to talk about physicality, I don’t think there’s any team more physical than us.
Sounds like CJ is taking classes at the Scott "We outhit them" Frost School of Excusology.
December 8th, 2021 at 3:55 PM ^
If that is true. And if they were all sick why did they have to hire a new DC?
December 8th, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
Maybe the new DC will have double duty as a doctor?
December 8th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
Maybe they thought Jim was looking for a DC when the media was talking about the CDC and A2.
December 8th, 2021 at 4:35 PM ^
Also, if the Ohio Stare team had the flu (which they allegedly caught from Michigan State players)…how come they didn’t pass the flu on to any Michigan players? Because we seemed pretty healthy against Iowa in the BIg championship.
December 8th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
I actually laughed out loud at Stroud saying there's no team more physcial...
December 8th, 2021 at 4:31 PM ^
Someone should send him a video of Hutchinson trucking their left tackle...It might help him understand the difference between physical and charmin soft.
December 8th, 2021 at 3:24 PM ^
"But y’all want to talk about physicality, I don’t think there’s any team more physical than us. Of course in those games I’m not in the trenches, so I really don’t know. I’m not looking down there. But my guys did the best they could at the end of the day."
The best they could do was give up 269 yards rushing and 38 points in one loss, and 297 yds rushing and 42 points in the other. That doesn't seem very good.
The best part? Utah beat the living shit out of Oregon - twice! The Rose Bowl should be a fun watch...
December 8th, 2021 at 3:37 PM ^
Already put my bet in on Utah for the upset win.
December 8th, 2021 at 4:29 PM ^
You don't think the Buckeyes will be motivated to be playing high class exhibition game?
December 8th, 2021 at 3:46 PM ^
I like Day being "our team is super tough" before equivocating about the toughness of the team's lines by saying he not in the trenches. Just throwing a little shade at his players.
December 8th, 2021 at 3:46 PM ^
Starting to get -sick- of this excuse
December 8th, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
Of course he was feeling "more tired" after some drives. They aren't used to needing 13+ plays for a TD.
December 8th, 2021 at 5:05 PM ^
"I don’t think neither of those teams are better than us"
Obviously this kid ain't there to play school. OTOH - he did admit Michigan's better.

Seems strange to fire your defensive staff because your team has the flu...
December 8th, 2021 at 2:47 PM ^
Well if you think about it this way, that staff could not stop a running back or the flu so I guess that would be the reason?
December 8th, 2021 at 2:50 PM ^
Beat me to it!
December 8th, 2021 at 3:00 PM ^
Very harsh, but that's bigtime college football!
Your guys get the flu - you're OUT!!!
December 8th, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
Maybe he gave it to them?
December 8th, 2021 at 4:48 PM ^
They only “kinda” have the flu. Just a little bit. Kinda.

We're in their head.
When we win in Columbus next year the locals are going to burn Day at the stake
December 8th, 2021 at 3:01 PM ^
Well it is a little weird that Ryan Day named his son Cooper, if you think about it!
