Dax may have bruised his shoulder on the Mertz hit.
October 4th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
He kept playing for almost an entire half of the game. Adrenaline is great and can mask a lot of pain, but I'd think if that were a serious injury he wouldn't have kept playing much more than another series or 2 because adrenaline does wear off quite quickly (speak from experience - broken femur, clavicle, and dislocated kneecap all at different times).
October 4th, 2021 at 5:37 PM ^
Yes there's adrenaline, but also some injuries start to show when the body cools down. I once had my knee rolled on in a hoops game. It was awkward and the trainer checked me out, but I ended up playing the entire game. By the time we got to the bus after the game, it was starting to hurt. When I woke up the next morning, I couldn't put any pressure on it. Sprained ACL.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
Absolutely. I was playing basketball, for our local league. I was tripped and thought I sprained my right hand (I'm right handed). I played the rest of the game with my wrist taped up. Luckily, I could shoot with both hands, and even made 4 three pointers with my left hand, so I left the game on a high note. I went home and went to sleep, and woke up (several hours later) in agony. Went to the doctor, and found out that I completely broke my wrist. I just thought it was a minor injury, when I was playing, because of the adrenaline.

It must be nice being amphibian.
October 4th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
Didn't seem to impair him when it came to the INT
October 4th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
He stayed in the game and played great so it's unlikely that's the shoulder is badly injured.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
Hell it's football, he hit a lot of people Saturday. C'mon man
October 4th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
Pretty sure that's Mertz's blood.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:06 PM ^
Yeah, he might have a bruised shoulder, but the guy that got the business end of that hit probably has at least one broken rib.
October 5th, 2021 at 2:32 PM ^
I believe he also put a lickin' on their TE that the dude won't soon forget. He was out for a bit but I believe he came back in the game.
October 4th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
At this point in the season I would expect all of them to be playing with an injury of some sort.
October 4th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
It's possible, and of course we hope not. Dax also made a heck of an interception after that play and played a super second half fwiw.
October 4th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
Its also possible that dax hill is the next president of the footballs
October 4th, 2021 at 4:09 PM ^
I would vote for him.

Players routinely ice various body parts after games. This is nothing unusual or any cause for worry.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:45 PM ^
Andrew, can you tell me more about icy parts?
October 4th, 2021 at 6:27 PM ^
Agree. Hopefully they are all icing parts of their body after the game for a better recovery. Just like every pitcher after a game.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:05 PM ^
I'd be surprised if it didn't.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:15 PM ^
I'm pretty sure Corum's shoulder would also be hurting pretty bad after he met that Wisconsin DB in the hole.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:15 PM ^
At this point in the season all the regulars have assorted bumps and bruises.
Its the difference between playing hurt vs playing injured.

That was a hard-hitting game all around. Corum took/gave some shots too. Nebraska will be no pillow fight either. The bye week and Northwestern come at a good time before the gauntlet.
Didn't see this posted anywhere, field hockey dumps OSU at their place yesterday...
No. 2 Michigan used a third-quarter goal to earn a 1-0 win at No. 18 Ohio State and improve to a perfect 9-0 on the season.
Sofia Southam, the nation's leading scorer, scored the game-winner at the 36:21 mark for her 14th goal of the season. Abbey Tamer with the assist.
U-M held Ohio State to just three shots and none on goal to earn its fourth shutout this season.

The hit Dax put on was savage. He is not one of the arm tackle DBs you sometimes see. He hits and will stand up blockers .
Corum is a beast. When he squares his shoulders it’s a brick wall collision
This Michigan team is physical all around.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:58 PM ^
That's the big takeaway....this team is finally playing tough.....both physically and mentally.
October 4th, 2021 at 5:10 PM ^
you said it
FINALLY playing tough, so accurate.
other teams would have had issues once wiscy hit those passes at the end of the half but these guys played HARDER.
Love it

AND IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW COACHING STAFF HIRES.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:20 PM ^
You really don’t feel much in your shoulders the way the pads absorb the impact.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
lmao, this site is full of thirsty users who will find any excuse to make a thread
He's a football player wearing an ice pack! Breaking news: the sky is blue!
October 4th, 2021 at 4:37 PM ^
Exactly what I was thinking. We're speculating that one of our star players has an injury simply because he's wearing an ice pack after a game? At least half of the guys who saw the field will have some ice on post-game. This is indicative of nothing, CERTAINLY not thread-worthy.
October 4th, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
I guess it’s possible; seeing that it was the equivalent of the Charlie Murphy/Rick James superkick.

Medical update on Mertz: according to doctor's, his ribs will heal in 3 weeks. Unfortunately, Mertz'z soul was permanently broken after that hit.
October 4th, 2021 at 7:32 PM ^
Soul broken, and to compound matters for Mertz that could quite possibly be one of the top 5 defensive back annihilates qb, while doing it LEGALLY hits I've ever seen in my life.
I'm not sure if that was a run on sentence, but good God that was a text book, clean KO by Dax.

October 4th, 2021 at 5:55 PM ^
It may be bruised; he walloped the opposing quarterback with alacrity. He then pressed on, regardless.
October 4th, 2021 at 6:40 PM ^
We don't get bruises.
We give em.

OP is a horrible concern troll.
October 4th, 2021 at 7:09 PM ^
No worries, it's his non-throwing shoulder.
October 4th, 2021 at 7:12 PM ^
most of their starters have bruises after several games - its football
October 4th, 2021 at 7:31 PM ^
Guesses and speculations and assumptions are not very helpful. Of course, it is possible, but actual NEWS is much, much better than "he MAY HAVE" bruised his shoulder.
October 4th, 2021 at 7:59 PM ^
Objection…Speculation.
October 4th, 2021 at 8:10 PM ^
It wouldn't surprise me if it stung Dax a bit. He hit Mertz so hard my ribs hurt.
I tried not to cough the rest of the day.
October 4th, 2021 at 9:22 PM ^
I thought that was Dax's best game he has played in a Michigan uniform on Saturday.
