What Away Games Will You Attend This Year?
Just wanting to hear what away games other board members plan on or are thinking about attending.
Games I’m attending:
- Maryland: 2 hour drive to what’s basically a Michigan home game, beautiful campus, 10 minute metro ride to downtown DC.
Games I’m Considering:
- Penn State: 3 hour drive, but the worst drive possible on a janky state highway with weird laws, good game day experience.

Likely just Michigan State since it's an easy drive from metro Detroit. Considered Nebraska as well but the timing wasn't great and I believe they are now rotating on as our permanent cross division opponent for the next six years so I'll get out there one of those years.
I've done Wisconsin, Maryland and PSU before so wasn't as keen on planning those trips this year.

I've been planning to go to "the next game in Nebraska" with a couple buddies from Nebraska (one who endured their last visit to Ann Arbor with a good attitude).... my wife is now due that weekend. Maybe next time!

Sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy
August 15th, 2021 at 7:30 PM ^
I’ll be in Madison, too. I wish I had time for the Packers game, but I fly in Friday night and back early on Sunday.
August 17th, 2021 at 8:27 AM ^
Would like to go to the Badger game on 10/2 also, but it depends on the time.
No Limit Reunion Tour is the same day in Chicago and I'd like to go with a friend of mine who is the biggest No Limit fan ever. He was also Da'shawn Hand's high school coach, so we will catch the Lions @ Bears Sunday in Chicago.

Considering Nebraska.
Just an 8 hour drive from Denver.
Lincoln is a polite gameday experience; it's the anti-Columbus.
August 15th, 2021 at 2:32 PM ^
I might have to consider this.
August 15th, 2021 at 5:32 PM ^
If I didn’t have a 10 month old, I’d try to snag a ride with you!
August 15th, 2021 at 8:15 PM ^
Bring 'em... my avatar will keep your lil one occupied!
August 15th, 2021 at 10:28 PM ^
I just noticed it, but pretty sweet fab job on your avatar dude. Nicely done.
I'm old, looks like I have to up my readers to +2.25's
August 15th, 2021 at 10:58 PM ^
We will be there. Two of us driving from Denver with ten flying in from Detroit. Looking forward to it as none of us have ever seen a game in Lincoln.
August 15th, 2021 at 2:49 PM ^
Maybe Maryland.
im kinda terrified of Penn State. The bleachers seem like one Zombie Nation away from structural collapse.
August 15th, 2021 at 3:16 PM ^
So true!
August 15th, 2021 at 4:20 PM ^
It’s basically an erector set stadium, so yeah!
August 15th, 2021 at 4:47 PM ^
Concur. Hideous janky thing. I was shocked when we went there.
August 15th, 2021 at 2:51 PM ^
What are these weird Pennsylvania laws you speak of?
August 15th, 2021 at 3:11 PM ^
Mostly the awful highway 322 that you take to/from Penn State’s main campus at State College, which is in the absolute middle of nowhere to be clear.
They have white dots along this deteriorating portion of highway with an artificially-low speed limit. You have to maintain at least two dots between your car and the one in front of you. So essentially you have to maintain about 100 yards between each car - which ruins traffic flow from 50,000+ cars leaving one area at once.
At the same time, the white dot portion of the highway is one lane in each direction for the majority of the way, meaning passing is impossible when you get behind people going 10 under the speed limit - which considering the amount of drunks and blue hairs coming home on that highway, is guaranteed to happen multiple times.
The police are also overzealous in enforcing this too, which results in an awful experience to and from State College.
Since there are only a handful of hotels in the area, you are basically forced to drive home right after the game unless you know someone who will let you crash at their place. Personally, I’ve been on this drive in 2006, 2017, and 2019, and it’s just brutal every time without fail.

At UCF.
Oh you meant basketball, right?

Games you're attending is one game? Games you're considering is one game?

At Nebraska
August 15th, 2021 at 3:55 PM ^
Wisconsin for me. We've been doing one a year. Last year was supposed to be Minnesota. Pick up my daughter on the way in Chicago. No blowout loss please!! I can take a competitive loss or win obviously.
August 15th, 2021 at 4:55 PM ^
We are flying into Nebraska for that game. Staying in Omaha. Looking for good places to hang out on friday night and saturday night. (assuming it's not a night game)
August 15th, 2021 at 5:14 PM ^
I'm really wanting to do the Nebraska trip, haven't been there yet. It's in early October and could be combined with a few other stops along the way both directions as a true "road trip" vacation.
If that idea falls thru, maybe @Penn St and/or Maryland. But mid-November travel isn't too appealing to me, so I suppose another trip to the concrete dumpster in East Lansing might end up a better alternative.
I've been to all the original Big Ten venues: at least 7 trips each to both Purdue and Northwestern, 3 trips to IU, 2 trips each to Minnesota, msu and Wisconsin, and one trip each to osu, Iowa and Illinois.
August 15th, 2021 at 5:45 PM ^
Going to my first road football games this year. Penn State and MSU. I'm considering Wisconsin and Nebraska, but probably not.
August 15th, 2021 at 6:52 PM ^
I'm like many, in looking at drive time. For me, the game start time also makes a big difference. And lastly, I'm not gonna pay upwards of $150 - $200 for a ticket.
- I'd go to a noon or 3pm game with Wisconsin
- I'd consider a noon or 3pm game with MSU (week of decision)
- I'd consider a noon game with Nebraska.

Lol, was going to post the same.

Came to post this. Bravo

I went to the last Penn State game (Ronnie’s near miss in the end zone). Amazing experience. Made me jealous we don’t have that kind of atmosphere, but also F Penn State. They still wish they were us.
Worth a trip though.
August 15th, 2021 at 8:12 PM ^
I purchased tix for Western and OSU. I'm debating PSU.
August 15th, 2021 at 8:44 PM ^
Planning on going to the Maryland game as well. It's closer to an hour metro (and bus) ride from College Park to downtown DC though.
August 15th, 2021 at 9:56 PM ^
14 of us going to the Nebraska game, been waiting for this trip for a while. Last B1G stadium for me. If you see 14 guys in Michigan gear at a bar anytime during the weekend come join us!
August 15th, 2021 at 10:30 PM ^
Do you (or anyone else) know what sections in Nebraska's stadium are going to be primarily Michigan fans?
August 16th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
According to the website the Visiting sections are 18, 19, 20, 40, & 41. By looking at the map I would guess 18, 19, & 20 would be where the majority of Michigan fans are, but not sure. We are in the Michigan section but haven't received my tickets from the ticket office yet so cannot confirm.
August 16th, 2021 at 8:20 PM ^
Thanks for the info, it'll help in my ticket search.
August 15th, 2021 at 10:39 PM ^
@ Wisconsin Going with my mom.
Fearful that this years Ohio State game will feel more like a road game, more then past games.
August 15th, 2021 at 11:06 PM ^
Thinking about attending Maryland game. About a 45 min - 1hr drive.
August 16th, 2021 at 12:56 AM ^
Maryland is a great place to watch a game. Great seating bowl and Michigan outnumbers their fans so it’s like a home game. If you get in the 2nd deck, you can move down near the sideline seats with no effort and nobody checks.
August 16th, 2021 at 8:17 AM ^
I was heading to Nebraska and Penn State ... but I eliminated Nebraska for this year. Still going to Penn State. Just a heads up ... word is that Michigan might not be a White Out game this season, so perhaps a 3:30 kick vs night game. Difference is staying someplace near State College. Hotel prices are f'ing stupid anywhere within a hour of the stadium (nothing ever available in State College). We're staying in Dubois which is 2 hours away, at "normal" hotel rates.
It's OUR time this year in Happy Valley !!!
Go Blue!
August 16th, 2021 at 8:46 AM ^
I’m actually flying to LA for UCLA/LSU in the rose bowl (pure helmet game and the rose bowl), and then I’ll be in Madison (little brother lives in Madison, great city), and then maaaaybe Maryland if we can swing it.
August 16th, 2021 at 9:33 AM ^
If they make it, I told my daughter I would take her to the NC game.
August 16th, 2021 at 11:23 AM ^
The only away games I've ever been to were at MSU during college, and both were absolute shit shows. I missed the opportunity to go to Madison when my cousin was going to school there. Not sure if I'll ever make it to another away game.
August 16th, 2021 at 7:52 PM ^
Maryland has been an away game experience that I have greatly enjoyed. The Michigan fans own the game and may cousin usually meets me at the game. This year he moved to florida however I may take my grown son. Go Blue
August 17th, 2021 at 6:15 PM ^
Had been going to every away game for about 15 years but 2020 ended the streak. This year, probably just Nebraska.
