I'm personally acquainted with the man. I can't comment on the veracity of the reporting in the OP, but I can assure all the he is twice the asshole everyone thinks he is. Just a discarded overfilled colostomy bag baking on a patch of broken Zug Island concrete in the hot August sun.

I've never been a fan of all of the U-M/MSU/Wayne State Board members being publicly elected.
But that is how it is. As someone else upstream said, very few Michiganders pay attention to these elections. He'll likely be around for awhile.
Very few people care about regents/trustees elections, and they vote for whatever letter is next to the name. it's usually a patronage junket. Sometimes it works out ok - most of these people are alumni and love their institutions, and that helps. But sometimes it really doesn't.
