Michigan is in play for Ohio State transfer WR Jameson Williams
Per Allen Trieu. The article is free for my fellow tightwads who are averse to paying for #content.
Infiltrate Ryan Day's submarine!
Gross.
I'd love for this to happen. I don't think it will. But I'd love it if it did
But I don't think it will.
Let’s Boren those bastards.
*sees Alabama is in play*
It was fun to be included in this list! Have fun in Tuscaloosa!
If he's not seeing enough playing time in Columbus it's even less likely he sees it in Tuscaloosa.
Bama us probably the least likely landing spot.
Don't be too sure about that. Just saw this article on 247 Sports about him possibly landing at Alabama:
Report: Alabama could land Ohio State WR transfer Jameson Williams (247sports.com)
There’s no way he goes to Alabama. He obviously wants to get on the field, hence the transfer. His best option to see the field would be MSU.
He saw the third-most snaps of all OSU receivers last season. I don’t think getting on the field is the main issue.
Emeka Egbuka the #1 wr in the 2020 class and a early enrollee got a lot more snaps than him in spring practice. The real reason is they moved Garret Wilson out wide making him #2 @ his position. Olave and Wilson out wide and Egbuka and Njigba in the slot. He had quite a few drops in spring practice. He would be a great pick up for any team. Hate to see him go.
Wrong. He's a former top-100 player that's been passed for the 3rd WR spot by former # 1 in the country WRs Fleming (2020), Egbuka (2021), and 2020 5-star Smith-Njigba this Spring - reported by the local news here in Central Ohio. It's also been reported that both Egbuka and Smith-Njigba were almost impossible to cover this Spring. And keep in mind, all of them will be playing behind future first round WR picks Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. Olave was projected in most polls as a a first round pick this year (15 to 32 pick) but chose to return and former 5-star Wilson could be the most explosive WR in the country in 2021
Basically, J. Williams saw the writing on the wall - he wasn't getting much playing time this year. Can't blame him for transferring
Looks at OSU’s WRs then Michigan’s secondary. Welp...
True, but OSU's DBs were their biggest issue last year. They got exposed several times and basically just had to outscore opponents. In other words - they SUCKED - so we're not alone with that position group
What better way to make Ohio State eat it than to come to their biggest rival and ball out? Come on over Jameson!
Agree, JH and staff need to go after this kid hard. He also knows the weaknesses of that shitty OSU secondary
Honestly, why would he come here? We’ve had elite receivers, we don’t give them the ball. He’ll get targeted more often at just about any other school.
Tally guess what lol. Bama isn’t real deep @ wr.
Looks like WR is Bama's thinnest position - well, for them anyways. 99% of other teams would love to have their depth
Transfer credits lol.
Yeah, does he play school?
Don't kid yourself. I have no idea what his academic situation looks like but if he can somehow get into UM even at bare minimum requirements, JH and the administration will get him in. He's a big-play receiver with speed to burn. We recruit the same kids as OSU (or try to) and the academic BS comes into play when a school isn't performing up to expected standards. UM is the winningest program of all-time and should not have to stoop to that level. Believe me, other teams were using that BS against us during the Bo era.
Go read the SEC boards sometime and you would think Alabama is a school for the mentally challenged. I'm not a Saban fan, but that's just horseshit and a copout by other schools. Give teams like Bama (especially Bama) credit for their success
Would be shocked if any Ohio St player transferred to Michigan. Ever. They just don’t do that.
But keep in mind, he's not from Ohio - I believe Missouri or Kansas so who knows. He says that he holds no bitter feelings toward OSU but he has to be somewhat pissed down deep that he was passed on the depth chart. This kid also has blazing speed.
He listed MSU too. Guaranteed to start there, and Tucker will surely let him know.
He was a starter at OSU too, so he’s probably guaranteed to start everywhere except Alabama. The guy is a game changer and has elite speed. He would be a huge get if the staff can pull it off.
He was a starter, but with the WR haul OSU has brought in the last two cycles, he may very easily have seen that spot wrapped up by one of the incoming freshmen or soph's. I don't blame him for transferring one bit, but no way in hell he'll transfer anywhere without a very good chance to start right away.
Exactly what happened. He can play immediately at any school outside of OSU (obviously), Bama, Oklahoma and maybe Clemson - not sure what Clemson has returning at WR. He's a game breaker
Tucker might actually get him the ball too. JH won’t.
Doesn’t matter. Won’t get past admissions.
How do you know this ?
If Harbaugh is gonna turn this around, it's gonna be from doing stuff that Michigan has never done before. Getting OSU guys to transfer in, taking JUCOs, etc. The Xavier Worthy stuff doesn't strengthen my confidence in that stuff ever happening, but that's more the fault of admissions than Harbaugh
The Xavier Worthy stuff suggests that taking JUCOs is nowhere in the near future.
Cade could always use more weapons.
What sweet justice it would be to see him score on a sweep (much more likely than a successful forward pass) in the 4th quarter against OSU to cut their lead to 30.
Take that, fuckers.
We beat them this year. Book it.
I get it. Herman goes to Texas. Sarks takes over worthy goes there. Then we get williams! Wait...what?
Hard for me to envision anybody transferring here from OSU given the nature of the “rivalry.”
Combine that with the fact there's already quite a bit of receiver depth and a track record of not doing a whole lot with our receivers.
If he watched any film on Michigan WRs he isn’t scared one bit of the “Depth”
Can he play CB
It’s pretty hilarious to see them like “if he leaves for TTUN he’s a traitor” but then when confronted with Boren + Mattison, they’re like “well that’s different because we’re good and they’re bad”
Is that not was sports fandom always is?
As much as having a play transfer to a rival will always seem especially awkward, accepting one from a rival probably would seem that way as well. Not that they would likely turn down someone for that reason alone if it came to that (which seems exceedingly unlikely for a lot of reasons), but still....
We have a 14% chance he chooses us. If he does, it is doubtful he can even read, let alone get admitted.
There is a 14% chance you could be banned for saying that. One can only hope...
This is the garbage I hate on this site. The total copout over our academics / intelligence being superior to everyone else when we can't win championships on the field. Hey Einstein, do you realize that JH offered this kid back in 2019 ? So, suddenly the kid's a dumbass because he chose OSU. Here ya go. Go get this kid JH
Would love to see him come here. He would come in with a chip on his shoulder, a dislike for OSU, and would bring up the overall talent level of the team. He’d start right away and give some more reliability to a very important position.
But he’d most likely be misused because thats what Michigan does with offensive players. And even if he was still interested in coming here, he’d probably get tangled up in admissions nonsense because Michigan is the biggest obstacle in Michigan’s path many times.
On that note, he’ll end up at MSU or somewhere else.
EDIT: I just re-read this and it’s depressing. Man, I hate being a downer but Jesus Christ, Harbaugh has reverted this program back into a black pit of despair.
Is it basketball season yet?
No we're not. At least not where I'd actually believe it
