Athletic program left this year most likely to break our NCAA title drought?
We haven't gotten a Natty in any sport since 2014. Which one in your opinion looks most primed to have a chance for one the rest of this athletic year. I decided to do a ranking of three on each of the men's side and women's side. In descending order I got:
Men's Gymnastics, Men's Tennis and Men's Soccer
Women's Gymnastics, Field Hockey and Softball
Given there are 100 - 300 D1 schools (except hockey and I don't know about lax) in a given sport competing for national championships every year, and we're not Stanford, is 7 years really a drought?
Here for the cursory Fuck Stanford
This OP title is pretty questionable.
Agree that 7 years is not a drought.
-1 for Natty. Sorry.
At first I didn’t like use of “Natty” either. It felt too casual, too slangy for something so important.
However, then I noticed players using it, doing what slang always does, giving an old idea a fresh and fun new sense. In effect, they “embiggen” it.
And maybe—I’m just thinking out loud here—their new sense makes more sense to them. To fans like us, a National Championshp becomes a key part of our own lives, our own history, to savor for years. But to players in the middle of the contest, working for one, they feel its importance deeper than we do but also know how rare they are. That a key player may get injured. That shots may not fall. That refs may call a clean block a foul.
That is, in the arena, players know a Natty’s importance but also know enough to slang it off as a fickle thing, not something that their inner being depends on.

I will throw my cap in for the baseball team. Give me the dark horse in the softball team as well.
I'm sure Gymnastics have better odds, but is the scoring subjective? Baseball and Softball battle the umpires sometimes, but are they as bad as the "Russian judge".... and yes I know it was ice skating.

Yes. Yes they are.
Hockey wins the ship next year. I'll be there. Bookmark this post.

Well a lot of our players are underage.
Automatic -1 for "Natty." This isn't East Lansing.
I would put my marbles on the ping pong team.

I actually played for the table tennis team at Michigan. Fun times!
Per the MGoBoard, it will be the Money Cannon team. After all, UM is a charity school.
