OT: Oregon CB signee Luke Hill arrested
Baltimore (MD) St. Frances product Luke Hill was arrested on eight charges, including attempted 1st degree murder (LINK). Hill signed with Oregon and was a 4-star recruit. Michigan recruited him, and Biff Poggi is the head coach there at St. Frances.
Hill signed with Oregon in December, but some other shady stuff led to the school not even allowing him to enroll or be admitted before they parted ways with him. So even though he signed, Oregon already parted ways with him.
Jesus Christ. Hate to see people just throw their life in the dumpster like this. Was lucky enough to make awful decisions at a young age, do my time, and clear my record. But it was never 8 chargers with attempted murder on the docket.
Sadly stuff like this will only continue to occur, but hopefully it gets better and involves kids less and less
One thing to note is that Michigan may have been the leader at one time for Hill and that there’s even a crystal ball for Hill to Michigan. You also may know Hill from the time he scammed a 14 year old out of $45.
Ripping off middle schoolers ... where is Encyclopedia Brown when you need him?
Did he sell some stuff to Billy in 4c?
Pretty bird
I think you mean “Billy Enforcee”
I don't know....few baseball cards, a sack of marbles, uhh Petey.
So … you’re saying he’s available??
That is a crap-ton of Fulmer Cup points that just went by the wayside for Oregon. He almost assuredly would have won the Individual Achievement award for the year, and in all likelihood would have single-handedly put Oregon in a sure-fire top three spot for the Cup.
Stuff like that is a pretty normal occurrence in Baltimore and PG county.
Except for the assault rifle stuff. Nobody has those in MD bc they were banned in 2013 there. For the life of me, I can't imagine how a criminal got one when the law abiding citizenry can't.
Just because they were banned does not mean that no one in MD has one...
I'm quite certain that was sarcasm
Are you saying that we shouldn't have any laws because people break them? Because that is what you are arguing here.
"Theft is outlawed but people still steal things. For the life of me, I can't imagine how a criminal was able to steal something when the law abiding citizenry can't."
"Because X isn't 100% effective, it is completely worthless."
There's an argument to be made like that, yes.
Also, fewer laws means less crime and fewer criminals.
How about instead of punishing law abiding citizens, we focus on the actual criminals committing the same crimes over and over
You can’t compare theft to an inanimate object.
Assault weapons ban of 1994 has no impact on homicides
It also expired in 2004.
Michigan offered, but never really recruited hill.
Well, they offered, and they hosted him on an unofficial, and there was a crystal ball for him to Michigan, and he said at one point that he was talking to Mike Zordich on a weekly basis (LINK). So I would say they recruited him.
I just remember Lorenz saying Michigan wasnt trying with him bc he wasnt a fit.
Good for Oregon to part ways with him. He'd be on campus at MSU already.
Not just on campus..but that would pretty much guarantee a spot in the 2 deep.
He may yet be.
Mork is available to post his bond.
So after Oregon parted ways with him, did he not sign anywhere? Hard to believe at top 200 player wasn't wanted elsewhere.
Thoughts:
- Typically, what's charged has little relationship to what's actually pled to / brought to trial / convicted. It's kind of a "throw shit at the wall" situation.
- That said, if the ESPN story is correct, Hill got his gun and did a drive by. That sounds like it's intentional and premeditated to me, so Murder 1 sounds right. But the fact that he missed seems weird; makes me wonder if he intended to miss. If so (not familiar with MD murder law) seems feasible that he dodges a murder rap.
- It sucks for him that he did this at 18, not 17. No juvenile record for him, this will likely ruin his life.
He is considered to be a locked down cornerback.
Is it worth taking a shot with him?
Now if they could just arrest all of everyone else's players.
There's one guy who probably wishes Mike D'antoni'o were still coaching somewhere
Attempted murder should have the same punishment as murder.
Missed field goals should be worth three points
