Kansas Jayhawks Basketball and Football receive 5 Level I violations
Kansas received a 92-page response from the NCAA saying, essentially "We wouldn't have done this, but the whole court case forced our hands. Shame on you for getting caught." In related news, Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas is preparing for the dreaded Death Penalty and a show cause for all of their coaches. The Tigers of Fort Hays play in DIV II, so nobody will notice that they have volunteered as tribute to serve the penalty for the Jayhawks.
Kansas needs new bagmen if they are cheating at football lol
Les just got there. it ain't the SEC.
Kansas is also charged with two Level II violations and one Level III violation related to the football program under coach David Beaty.
David Beaty cheated and still went 6-42 in his tenure at Kansas. That's gotta be some sort of a record.
That's worse than Russians testing positive for PEDs in curling.
Did they win the gold?
Almost as worse as this analogy
...or your vocabulary
Kansas says they can't be held responsible because they didn't know payments were being made. But, umm, Michigan basketball was hammered even though they didn't know payments were being made.
I suspect Kansas gets off as easy as NC got away with not holding actual classes. Fuck the NCAA...
Didn't Michigan self-impose those penalties?
When cheaters don’t get punished everyone should cheat.
I suppose there are two corollaries to your point:
1. If everyone is cheating already, what should happen to those who don't cheat?
2. If everyone is cheating and you get caught, what should your penalty be?
Penalty for not cheating in the first case. No penalty in the latter. Social norms determine behavior.
- They should be named Champions. (The block was clean and JT was short anyway)
- You don't get inducted into Cooperstown.
When it comes to Michigan, the only way this playing field gets leveled is NIL and/or what Harbaugh proposed. Michigan refuses to cheat to the level of these other programs and I've just accepted that. Hell, it took longer for Patterson to get eligible than it did for Martell and Fields combined. McGary left school because he was gonna sit out an entire season. That offseason the penalty gets lowered to 15 games but not retroactive. Jamal Crawford, Robin Benzing are "amateurism casualties" where Michigan gets hit and then the rules changed after. Michigan is one of those schools that the NCAA knows will do the right thing so they screw with them. Its kind of like the little guy getting hit for a tax audit of $1500 when he prob doesnt have that laying around but then you have billionaires not paying theirs. Easier to go after the compliant ones. Not advocating for deep cheating but itd be nice to compete annually.
Just tell Marty Blazer to up his game if you want to be more competitive, you're already playing.
Everyone here is aware that uofm players sometimes get paid. There is a difference between agents paying players in the hope they profit off them When they become wealthy in the NFL, compared to systematically paying 5 stars to come to your school. That shouldn’t be a difficult concept.
uofm needs to follow the bama, LSU, OSU, ect. approach. Literally everyone wins. Cheat. Who cares ?
Remember when Jeff Long was a serious candidate for our AD?
"Chancellor [Doug] Girod, [athletic director] Jeff Long and KU stand firmly behind Coach Self, his staff and our men's basketball program, as well as our robust compliance program."
In 2 years when the NCAA holds back one s’ship for the crew team justice will finally be served
Get ready for an epic wrist slap... It might even leave a mark!
I'm sure the cancelled NCAA tournament will count as time served for KU and Self.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more programs get hit with similar punishments.
You know what the difference is between all of these other blue blood programs cheating and not getting shit done to them and Michigan getting hit for freaking stretching and shit is? Michigan had Mary Sue Coleman get up there and talk about what a great day of shame it was for the University to have done these things. Extra quality control staffers and stretching and shes hanging her flipping head in shame. Michigan bent over and took it from the NCAA instead fighting it like every other program does. Michigan was a huge draw in the era of the Fab 5 and football is an even bigger draw so I highly doubt the ncaa wouldve done jack shit if we wouldve flipped them the bird.
Yep. LSU/Will Wade and KU/Bill Self have revealed that if you told the NCAA to F off, nothing will happen. It is absurd that Will Wade is still coaching in the NCAA, even moreso that he never got punished at LSU! The NCAA can send notices of violations all they want, but until they actually punish these teams, this is just pushing paper to make it look like there is still rule enforcement
Severe penalties have been dolled out for a lot less than what Kansas is being accused of. Let’s hope that the NCAA using the word “egregious” is an indication that they are going to come down hard. I think we all doubt that will happen. Self will get a slap on the wrist and do a book tour, everything will be back to normal after one abbreviated season of b-ball. Prove us wrong, NCAA.
Why do you care if they get punished ? Almost everyone cheats. I literally think it’s only uofm and ND that attempt to be “clean” and compete for a national title. And it’s dumb af.
I don’t think the football team cares about whatever violations the NCAA throws down at them. They’ve been bottom feeders for over a decade. Lower than pond scum, and that was without sanctions. Might as well cheat.
They're already a disaster and can’t get any lower. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
Who was it ...Jalen Wilson that got greedy, money, grubbing, advise from his parents. BURN. Kids that can't see right & wrong at a college age deserve all they get.
Perhaps that is Wilson's parents fault more than his because he was in high school and Michigans coach left and made that easier.
Gonna be a tough few years for Wichita State after those sanctions come down.
If Will Wade's corrupt ass ain't getting hit for shit with FBI wiretaps, I have zero faith Kansas will get hit. It's not like LSU basketball is a juggernaut the ncaa cant do without. LSU suspended for awhile and then backed him and flipped the bird to the ncaa and nothing has been done since.
I still cannot believe the NCAA did nothing about Will Wade. Is anyone gonna care if LSU basketball gets nuked? Will most LSU fans care if LSU basketball gets nuked?? No! There are no real rules if you're big enough and have the balls to tell the NCAA to piss off
Kansas bball is a blue blood, nothing will happen. Football might get the death penalty.
Hey, Fort Hays offered me a job once. If my wife and I had both taught 4 courses per semester, we could have banked only $10k less than the cost of living for the year!
as jerry tarkanian said, "the ncaa is so mad at kentucky that they're going to give cleveland state another year of probation."
it's pretty rare to find an ncaa enforcement story where that doesn't fit.
And let us not forget, although a different impropriety somewhat, UNC-Chapel Thrill and their AAS 101 “classes” for scholarship athletes.
One day, before I peace out for good, maybe corrupt programs will receive their karma and feel our pain post Fab 5 ...
