What are you doing to stay sane (and healthy)
Hello Friends,
Just wondering what everyone is doing to keep themselves sane during these trying times.
I'm not a huge drinker but I have indulged quite a bit over the last few days. Irish coffees have become my go to.
Also been playing a lot of video games, playing board games with the kids, and thinking about maybe writing something for the first time in 10 years.
What are you cats doing?
Not enough, unfortunately.
Are you ill my friend?
Just going crazy stuck at home. It was OK when it looked like the weather was getting better, but now that it's cold again I feel like I'm getting seasonal depression with all the shit going on.
It’s really not that bad - layer up a bit and get outside. Once you’re moving it feels fine and the fresh air/space will do wonders for you.
When MGoBlog becomes too much for me to take, I chill and read some coronavirus news.
Watching my stocks go up
This guy shorts (well not today)
For my health, going with the wife to get tested for covid tomorrow. Price you pay for having a wife working in critical care. Shits getting real. Maybe this will convince her that we should retire, buy some land in Wyoming, and ski or fly fish every day (season and social isolation regulations depending).
Good luck tomorrow
Good luck with your test 4G. How are her symptoms? How is the ICU she is at? It seems like the midwestern hospitals are staying ahead of the big curve for now. Nurses are Saints.
Thanks. Her symptoms are mild but an MA in her unit tested positive 5 days ago and they are testing care providers pretty aggressively. We are in Seattle and she recently got pulled from her infant/neonatal unit (RN) to help with covid patients. It’s pretty bad from what she tells me, but she doesn’t tell me much. Two tidbits I found share worthy. 1) the virus itself is brutal on patients. The coughing, gasping for air, pain, etc... is a lot worse than she expected. 2) this one sounded gossipy so take it for what it’s worth, but the drs, administrators, and ethicists have been meeting to finalize their triage plan, because it’s going to be needed.
She just seems genuinely scared and gets angry when she sees people in groups not following social distancing guidelines.
"She just seems genuinely scared and gets angry when she sees people in groups not following social distancing guidelines."
She must have loved Trump's presser today, then...

The health system I work for has put a protocol in place for ventilators. I'm pretty sure this is true everywhere. Que Debbie Downer sound effect. Good luck tomorrow.
I've got a family friend (30s, a former collegiate athlete and very healthy) in Denver that's battling Coronavirus in the ICU for the past week. I'm very grateful for all the medical families out there sacrificing their own health and wellbeing to try and help others, so thank you to you and your wife.
Sorry to hear that. My daughter works at an ER and is self quarantined because it’s probably the smart thing to do. I haven’t gotten to see her for over a week and we’re a very close family. Her moms a friggin basket case.
My daughter works in rehab and is potentially if needed getting reassigned to assist in Covid traffic. It’s not needed now. I have a buddy who is an ER Doc and he says the ER is empty. Nobody is out doing shit and getting hurt. Good luck to your daughter.
Yeah she said the same about ER traffic. She works at a major trauma center in Toledo and they designated a smaller outlying hospital for any potential cases and the cops are staying off anyone who may be positive.
I wish you well man. My wife is a pharmacist at a chain store I won’t mention. On Friday, some asshat proudly strutted into the pharmacy and declared to my wife (from probably 18 inches away) he had just come from the hospital where he had been administered a Covid test. Not knowing the results but seeing the symptoms, he told my wife the hospital ordered him to self-quarantine. My wife blew up and point blank asked him why he didn’t call ahead and ask them if he could accommodate his situation (or better yet, using the f’ing drive-thru). He, of course, had no answer.
Stay safe out there.
Probably bragging all over social media about it as well. Fucking morons!
And these are the people who won't succumb to this. And they somehow breed easy too.

Good luck....you have the right idea, hope you're able to get it done. See you on the slopes!
I’ve been mostly reading the expert opinions of all things Covid on Facebook and Mgoblog.
Working from the kitchen table
Lego with the kids (not really the kids, just me)
reading - gonna read through and old series with some of my brothers
running outside when weather and work permits
boozing post kids bedtime cuz ya gotta decompress
Eating and drinking. I have been going on walks with my kids and my dog. I miss playing basketball so I’m going to have to start an occasional run, which I hate, and a bike ride as the weather breaks.
Would you share what you like to write about DB?
I'm honestly not sure
Going to start keeping a journal and see how it goes.
I have quite a few ideas but that is all they are at this point
Edit
Video games.
Oh, and I ordered a stowable bench and two of those adjustable Bowflex dumbbells.
Working from home.
Dog walks.
Fortnite with my son.

Absolutely love this. Do you know the backstory behind the photo? Would be very interested in hearing more.
Ive been baking more and more elaborate cakes and throwing them out to stay healthy. Well, the first part at least
watching the shining.
With the girl from boober eats?
Yeah, I've been throwing a tennis ball against the wall playing catch with myself. And typing up pages and pages of a pretty boring book. Wife came in the other day, disrupted my work and I got really pissed at her. The bartender in my house had the nerve to tell me that my money was no good here, then gave me a bunch of free whiskey shots. He just set em up and I knocked em down...one by one.
The only time I would go out, would really be for concerts, comedy clubs or sports. Me staying at home and watching TV is nothing new. I have be doing this for 25+ years.
I really hope that people are laughing and don't have COVID on the mind all the time.
At first I had the same attitude but the longer this goes the harder it’s become. We didn’t do a whole hell of a lot before but the wife and I would hit the gym 4-5 times a week and had a couple of beers and some wings maybe once a week. I have a 13 yr old who’s going nuts and a frat boy 20 yr old who’s gonna drive me nuts.
I am single with no kids so doing nothing is easy for me. I really do feel for the parents who have to entertain the kids all day, every day.
Empty nester here .... basically what’s going on now is daily routine aside from the weekly night out at a bar/brewery with the old lady.
if parents maybe look at their children and their time with their kids a little differently, it changes from some obligation to entertain them into a time you get to enjoy them and speak into their lives in fun and meaningful ways.
??❗
As I'm an empty-nester and 65, doing a self-imposed isolation thing as of today thru the end of next week before I (hopefully) will be able to have some direct contact with my kids, granddaughter, and other close family members. In the meantime, I'm keeping in touch by phone with especially older relatives who can't get out, had a wonderful conversation earlier today with an aunt to celebrate her 87th birthday, also called my mother-in-law this evening to chat with her. Squeezed in a 2-mile walk mid afternoon, too.
There are ways to retain your sanity through all this, everyone, if you all open your eyes to them. Yes, for some it will be more difficult to do so than for others as we all try to stay safe and well. Being supportive of AND relying on loved ones to emotionally support you will help each and every one of us to get through this.

Well said, XM - I’ve enjoyed the extra time I’ve gotten to spend with my boys lately - hikes, legos, cooking together. Don’t get me wrong, they can be frustrating little monsters from time to time, but in general it’s been great to be with them more
Honestly, I'm starting to miss all the chauffeuring to my kids' activities.
Don’t your chauffeurs chauffeur all your kids?
Jacking off every few hours.
I tried this too but I wore myself out after about 18 hours
I am pretty raw right now. Trying to refuel and rest a bit before the next go.
I picked up a cbd lotion that seems to have great healing properties
Thank you. I will try that. Squishy as fuck right now.
