Hope he makes more threes than there are mentions of his DIII origins!

If he does, he'll win it by a mile!

Pretty impressive just to get the invite. Happy for him.

Wow, this is very cool!

He deserves it. Duncan is arguably the best 3pt shooter this season
He is 8th in 3PM per game at 3.4 per game. Harden is 1st at 4.7 but he shoots 36%
He is 6th in 3PT% at 43.8%. George Hill is 1st at 51% BUT Hill has only taken 131 3 point shots. Duncan has taken 368 3pt shots.

It’s pretty much him and Bertans this year.
edit: also Reddick

The Heat have away games Su Portland, M Golden St, W Utah before the break. I wonder how much shootout practice he will do.

Pretty incredible night for Wolverines in the NBA.
Caris LeVert: 29 pts, 7 asts in a win over the Suns
GRIII: 22 pts, 6 rbs, 7 asts in a win over the Wizards
Tim Hardaway Jr: 25 pts, 4 rbs, 5 asts in a win over the Pacers on the road
Duncan Robinson: 19 pts, 4-8 from 3 in a blowout win against the 76ers
Also, Mo Wagner returned from injury and scored 8 off the bench on 4-5 shooting for the Wizards

Even Jordan Poole went 1-2!

This would be the only thing I would make an effort to watch. Wonder if they'll have it on in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica ?

Everything is on everywhere. There's this fancy new fad called 'internet' that you may have heard of...
And be careful around the dinosaurs - I hear some of them will eat people!

ehhh I was being mostly facetious. but that is not true. I was not able to use my online youtube tv account to watch michigan basketball, thank god, on my recent trip to australia. it's not available in that country and I didn't have a VPN setup. My only chance would have been a third party stream which nobody posted. no worries.

Awesome to see him succeed in the NBA.

So cool to see!
Congrats to Duncan!

Well, did he accept the invite or not?

Does anyone else think it's dumb to have the shooters pull the ball off of a rack? I think they should update it to guys being able to have the balls passed to them. I think that's the main reason a lot of great in-game shooters have problems in them event. We had three point shootouts in college for our "midnight madness" type preseason event, and shooting off the rack was a very weird motion.
February 4th, 2020 at 7:27 AM ^
I'm sure all these guys are also used to shooting off a rack. Maybe it throws them off a little bit, but with how much they shoot it probably doesn't have too big of an effect.

Not that it's a hugely important competition that has to be super "fair", but you're asking a lot of a human to consistently feed the ball to multiple shooters the same way. Only way to keep it even is to give them all the same conditions to work from.
February 4th, 2020 at 8:48 AM ^
So in order to make the Home Run Derby "even" they are going to have the players hit off a tee. Just let each player select who they want to pass them the ball.

I agree with mgobleu, but you make a good point.
February 4th, 2020 at 12:13 PM ^
Not a good analogy. In baseball there has to be a pitcher (it's pretty hard to hit a 400-foot home run off a tee) but there doesn't have to be a passer in basketball. You could shoot a three off your own dribble.
February 4th, 2020 at 1:19 PM ^
I think the ideal thing would be to pair them with a passer from their respective teams. That way they would receive a pass that they could practice and are used to receiving anyway.
February 4th, 2020 at 12:11 PM ^
I would rather pick up the ball off a rack, at my own rhythm, than depend on someone to throw me passes.

Duncan Robinson continues to be one of the more unlikely success stories for UofM athletics. Even if its a gimmick contest it would still be pretty cool to have that trophy on the mantel .
