Dickinson hurt his knee in the first quarter and left the game. He came back to start the second quarter and has scored 13 points as Dematha leads Rancho Christian 32-20. Hunter scoring inside and from 3 point range. Juwan and Michigan getting lots of mention.

Nice, and this time he is actually playing!

It seems like our current recruits are in big time high school programs. May signal a change in philosophy in terms of schools we seek out for recruits.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:07 PM ^
Probably true, but Jackson committed to Beilein and Dickinson was a top Beilein target.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
Todd and Christopher aren't, but obviously more are than in the Beilein era.
I'd say it's mostly a byproduct of focusing on such high ranked recruits. So many of them are at these HS powers.

Hell yeah.
January 20th, 2020 at 11:56 AM ^
Yes, shout out to Sanderson!
January 20th, 2020 at 11:59 AM ^
Nice to watch a game where the Michigan player is actually playing in this tournament. Still amazing how stacked are these high-profile high school teams: Rancho Christian's 6th man was the leading scorer in the state of Missouri before transferring for more time on the bench.

That super skinny guy is the #1 player in the country? Looks like a gust of wind would blow him over
January 20th, 2020 at 12:24 PM ^
For my money Jalen Green(G out of California) is the best player in the country. Mobley can play, but Green is more dynamic to me.
January 20th, 2020 at 1:37 PM ^
The answer you're looking for is Cade Cunningham
January 20th, 2020 at 3:37 PM ^
As they mentioned in the broadcast there is a significant difference between #1 player in high school and #1 recruit based on future potential. A high school coach would definitely select Green or Cunningham to build their team around to win today, but the best NBA prospect is that skinny 7 footer Mobley.

Would you say he’s in the Todd bucket? Might not be as big of a contributor during his one year in college but has elite potential as he developes in the NBA?
January 20th, 2020 at 12:13 PM ^
is anyone recording/throwing up on youtube? Would love to watch this matchup, but at work.
January 20th, 2020 at 4:26 PM ^
I threw up on youtube once. Not a good look
January 20th, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
Dematha is pretty fun to watch, Dickinson has 24 points so far.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:40 PM ^
28 points (12/17) and 6 boards and player of the game despite missing part of the game with an injury limiting him to 23 minutes against the number one recruit who he outscored...solid game to say the least.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:41 PM ^
That was an extremely impressive outing. Hunter may get another bump in rankings after roasting the #1 player in the nation.
January 20th, 2020 at 3:47 PM ^
ESPN's announcers said they will update their rankings on Wednesday which I suspect will reflect this tournament.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:41 PM ^
Dickinson finishes with 28 points on 12-17 shooting and 6 rebounds in the Dematha win against the #1 player.
Hunter has the size and skills to not only contribute next year, he will probably start.
January 20th, 2020 at 12:42 PM ^
He won player of the game with that many elite players on the floor, including the number 1 player in the country who he was matched up with. That is extremely impressive, especially since he didn’t play most of the first quarter due to injury.
January 20th, 2020 at 2:06 PM ^
Would he start over Teske right now?
January 20th, 2020 at 2:46 PM ^
I think so. Teske just isn’t that good imo. He for some reason can’t finish at the rim for been 8 ft tall. Lacks the athleticism.
January 20th, 2020 at 4:22 PM ^
teske, hmmm, leading scorer, leading rebounder, leader in blocks, leader in steals. ya, not very good. what a dumb comment.
January 20th, 2020 at 3:44 PM ^
I watched Dickinson for the first time today, and liked what I saw. Particularly, the announcers case that Hunter always shows up big in the big games. I am sure that he will need time to adjust to the speed and athleticism of the college game but I think he could play at Teske's (senior year level) right now. Not saying that he wouldn't have his share of frustrating moments as well (and he has no more hops or court speed as Teske/Davis, but he seems to be a naturally aggressive player in the paint. He doesn't waste time in getting the ball on its way to the hoop and he has spent his whole career bodying the country's best 7 footers. I recently watched Mark Williams in IMG's game yesterday with Jackson's team and he seems like more of a project than Dickinson.
January 20th, 2020 at 4:20 PM ^
I think people consistently underrate Teske. He is a good passer, sets good screens, getting better on his outside shots (not easy for a 7 footer to be a legit 3 pt threat), generally plays solid to good defense without too much fouling and is a team guy. Looking forward to Dickinson but I think people will realize that Teske was a good player when he leaves.
January 21st, 2020 at 3:24 AM ^
I think Teske is like Matthews in that many are going to realize how valuable they were when they leave.
I actually think Teske could be a bigger loss than X although it looks like HD will be able to slide in comfortably, along with a beefed up Castleton and a more confident Johns.

Zeb has actually gotten into the game today for Montverde. They are currently playing on ESPNU
January 20th, 2020 at 5:27 PM ^
I've read about Hunter, but today is the first time I've watched video of him - he's going to be good!
