That was an awesome read! Ford's actions made me think of this quote.

Story brought me to tears, had never heard of this. Very proud of Ford, and glad I was able to meet him before he passed on.

Well-written story. Definitely worth reading at least once a year every year.

This is a wonderful story about PEOPLE. The Michigan-Ohio State part narrative is superfluous and largely irrelevant. It is brought into the story only to create drama. The people involved were worldly people and I suspect the issue of a football rivalry warranted at most a transient chuckle from them. Let's not make that the focus of the story.
I am prepared to be negbanged.

nah, +1
But I'd suggest the rivalry part is absolutely relevant -- especially in this day and age of piss, shit, f-bombs, and sometimes fists being thrown at Michigan fans by an all too large number of cooler-poopers... and also consider the property damage risks we have to contend with just because of the rivalry.
Why the rivalry matters is it gives context to being a decent human being matters most.
Kinda like this too:
I wish there were these types of reminders the other 364 days of the year too.

Thanks so very much for posting the link to that story about Jerry Ford, Jesse Owens, and Willis Ward.
Truly inspirational, a story for the ages.
