Being a fan of this football team is pain.

RIP Michigan front 7
December 8th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
Will be shocked if I don't turn this game off before the end of the first quarter ... we always fall apart in big games like this.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:48 PM ^
I thought bowl games were meaningless????

Being a fan of this football team is pain.
The first comment is about the best way to put it.
Size isn't always the most significant factor in a D Lineman. Quickness, smarts, good coaching--they are the significant factors. But when you're smaller than the team you're facing, and they are also quick, smart, and well coached, then size is an issue. Michigan's D Line didn't stand up well to Wisconsin and Ohio Sts O Lines. Alabama's O Line is just as good as those two, probably better.
I really want to see Michigan win on New Years day. I am very happy they qualified for a NY6. But wow, this one is going to be a monumental challenge.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
Not a NY6 game.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:24 PM ^
You're right.
Thank you.

"Hail to the life champions and moral victors, hail to being third in the B1G, hail to another season of 9-4 and talking shit about refs and bagmen...."
December 8th, 2019 at 7:53 PM ^
Furthermore, I love Michigan Football, but why would anyone want to pay good hard earned money for plane tickets, hotel room, food and bowl tickets to watch their favorite team get their teeth kicked in. For goodness sakes we haven't looked competitive in a Bowl game in over three years.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:05 PM ^
sheesh, an elephant
December 8th, 2019 at 3:27 PM ^
Maybe ...just maybe this motivates our NFL bound guys to play to test their skills?
December 8th, 2019 at 4:07 PM ^
Finebaum just came.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
He's not the only one...
December 8th, 2019 at 5:52 PM ^
So nasty...has the KGB agent that got this shot recovered from the trauma yet?
December 8th, 2019 at 6:54 PM ^
FSB.
It's the FSB.
Please get with the times comrade!
December 8th, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
Why is Kevin Costner in bed with Finebaum?
December 8th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
Oh god
December 8th, 2019 at 9:05 PM ^
No problem. Our coaching staff will figure out a brilliant game plan
December 8th, 2019 at 3:14 PM ^
Well fuck....
December 8th, 2019 at 9:01 PM ^
And you're one of the more optimistic ones I've read so far
December 8th, 2019 at 3:14 PM ^
Alabama's not going to give two shits about this game. They may care less about their bowl game than any team in the country.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
And we are still going to get waxed
December 8th, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
And they will STILL win
December 8th, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
Dang, I haven't seen a bunch of guys this down in the dumps since I saw these guys...
December 8th, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
Alabama much more likely to have players sit out.
And this is a huge come-down for them, tremendous opportunity for us.
They did not beat a team with better than a 7-5 record.
Speed in space all day.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
It's good to have an upbeat guy around, I guess. I hope Michigan can get a running game going...
At least the usual suspects can't find a way to accuse you of being an Ohio St troll--as hard as they may try.
edit: But now that I think of it, shoot, they can manufacture some labored way of doing it. I should never underestimate them.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
I really hope this is the case but they still have superior talent so I don’t know..
December 8th, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
Hmm, an Alabama team that doesn't care versus a Michigan team that never seems to care about their bowls, I wonder who gets waxed?
/S so you know who
December 8th, 2019 at 5:09 PM ^
Uh, you might want to check out who Alabama’s coach is if you think they won’t give a fuck and come out lazy and unprepared.
Bama could be playing the North Dakota School of Mines and Performing Arts in a bowl game in Alaska, and Saban would still be determined to go and win it 63-0.
There’s not a chance in hell Saban’s not relishing the opportunity to destroy a guy who some still claim is his near equal in the coaching community, and who gets paid almost as as he does, despite not having 1/1,000th the accomplishments.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
Agreed. Saban will get his team to play angry. Even if several of his NFL draft ready seniors skip the game. Like the Buckeyes, the 'Bama backups are mostly 5 star recruits.
Only chance if for a shootout type game for Michigan.
December 8th, 2019 at 6:41 PM ^
Absolutely correct. Late in the season I would have said M was up for winning a shootout type game like this. Maybe it can happen.
December 8th, 2019 at 7:13 PM ^
The received wisdom is that everyone gives Michigan their best shot and that's why Michigan will always be no better than a three loss team. This year Michigan will be no better than a four loss team.
December 8th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
Who thinks Harbaugh is Saban's near equal? Saban has 6 national championships and Harbaugh has not won a conference championship yet. I mean, Harbaugh's a good coach, had more NFL success, and Saban is unethical and unlikeable. But they're not in the same ballpark in terms of accomplishments or perception in the coaching community.
December 8th, 2019 at 9:24 PM ^
Half the people on this board for one will still try and find a way to say that Harbaugh is only just slightly behind Saban as a coach and the only reason Saban is so much more successful is because of academic standards and bagmen.
Also, after his first 2 seasons here, there were several national talking heads who were saying Harbaugh was the best coach in the nation despite the utter ridiculousness of that statement.
Obviously they’ve had to back it off some the last 3 years, but there are still plenty of people out there who are trying to spin the narrative that Saban isn’t really THAT much better.
I’m sure Nick’s heard these comments and is very eager to put them to rest
December 8th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
They don’t need to care to wax us. Hate this matchup
December 8th, 2019 at 3:14 PM ^
Either they win and Harbaugh gets to shut everyone up, or they lose and his critics get to crow.
I’m an optimist, so I lean towards the win.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:38 PM ^
I'm a realist, and I lean toward humiliation.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:42 PM ^
Worst case it’s an osu style beat down. Big deal, Alabama is an elite team and UM isn’t.
This is all upside, unlike a loss to a middling USC.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:09 PM ^
Well--of course--I certainly hope you're right. But when people say that situations where you may be beaten like flank steak are all upside. . .
December 8th, 2019 at 4:35 PM ^
Well of course a loss to Bama looks better than a loss to USC. But I think Michigan would cream USC
December 8th, 2019 at 5:21 PM ^
Our bowl record has been crap for pretty much my entire life, so I'm not confident we would beat USC. Better to lose to Alabama than an actual tire fire.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
I'm wondering if Michigan gets beat badly by Alabama if it would make Jim Harbuagh pause, well, stop, and take a serious look at how he's selecting coaches for his staff.
December 8th, 2019 at 7:56 PM ^
I’m not sure why the shade on his coach selection. His coaches are generally well respected. Despite the blowouts to OSU brown is still respected. Partridge is, and Bama tried to poach him. Zordich always seems to do a good job. Gattis seems to be coming along. This isn’t like the Hoke era
December 8th, 2019 at 10:30 PM ^
I didn't say ALL coaches.
