Well, to be fair, Desmond Howard's picking Michigan. But Desmond would pick Michigan against the New England Patriots. He's Michigan's version of the homer celebrity picker GameDay has every week.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:46 AM ^
Not true, he once called Michigan’s defense hot garbage when Hoke or RR was the coach.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
I'm goin' out on a limb & saying RR.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:07 AM ^
WTF, where did they get that pathetic looking winged helmet they have on the stage? Some local high school?

WE GON SHOCK THE WORLD

Said no M game result in the last 15 years
October 19th, 2019 at 10:05 AM ^
Oh, there have been some shocking ones...

"How about SMU? From the Death Penalty to the Top 25!"
Yeah, it only took 35 years.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:15 AM ^
Yeah, and they are ranked because they're undefeated not necessarily because they ran roughshod over their opponents.
It's a fine story and I'm happy for the fans and players, but it's a weird narrative.
October 19th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
Yeah, the most fascinating part of the story was the death penalty ruling and the shit show on the field that ensued. They went 4-29 in the few years after the program was reinstated. Ouch.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:14 AM ^
Lee Corso on board for Meechigan! Lets Gooo! I dont know if thats good or bad though.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:24 AM ^
He does that every week to taunt the home team. He was all over Florida at the start of the show last week . . . then he put on the Tiger head.
He'll be putting on that flea-infested Nittany Lion head.
October 19th, 2019 at 12:06 PM ^
Ugh. That feels like the kiss of death
October 19th, 2019 at 9:25 AM ^
Many of us aren't picking Michigan either sad to say. Hoping for the best but expecting 3 to 4 hours of no lube BPONR...black pit of negative realizations
October 19th, 2019 at 10:10 AM ^
no lube BPONR
Sounds, uh, painful. And a little NSFW.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:48 AM ^
There’s no need to drop the E. It’ll be an evening of BPONERs: Black pit of negative expectations realized. The only thing worse than the BPONER is the P-boner.
October 19th, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
I did, but maybe that's because I am a huge homer, and the money line was too juicy to pass up.
October 19th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
Huge Homer, scared about the BPONeR.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:25 AM ^
Other than UM and PSU there is zero games of interest. Is this the most boring weekend of college football ever?
October 19th, 2019 at 9:29 AM ^
I used to watch CFB from noon to past midnight every Saturday but this year I've lost interest regardless of matchups
October 19th, 2019 at 9:36 AM ^
I think the only game im going to watch is the Michigan game, I cant remember the last time i did that.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:39 AM ^
These games are like 3.5 hrs it seems. Too many commercials. Commercials after every injury or timeout or challenge. It’s ridiculous. I fall asleep in the second half of our games bc they’re boring (and we aren’t very good).
October 19th, 2019 at 12:32 PM ^
You think commercials are bad on TV, they're worse at the stadium. At home you can flip between three or four games; at the stadium, you just stand around bored.
I turned down a free ticket to the Huskies game today; I can tell you if there were no commercial timeouts, I would have gone.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:11 AM ^
On a day like this, I'm strictly a 4th quarter guy, and only for games that are within a score.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:40 AM ^
12 Oregon (5-1) -2.5 at 25 Washington (5-2) 3:30 ET ABC
18 Baylor (6-0) at OK State (4-2) -3.5 4:00 Fox
October 19th, 2019 at 10:09 AM ^
This is an odd year in that Labor Day was early and Thanksgiving is late, meaning all teams in college football have 2 byes on their schedule instead of one. I wonder if that is resulting in weeks where there aren't that many interesting games.
October 19th, 2019 at 12:15 PM ^
They're not boring if you have money on some of the games, like me.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:38 AM ^
Michigan will have to run for 150+ to win. It will have to be low scoring. The defense will have to be almost perfect.
Shea isn't putting the team on his back and throwing to 300. Nor would JH let the offense open up enough to do that.
I guess their best chance would be to play the "no respect" card and play with a chip on their shoulder.
The sad thing is I don't think this Penn State team is a conference winning or playoff team. Just an average, decent team that I have little optism that JH can beat.
October 19th, 2019 at 9:51 AM ^
Well our offense is hitting their stride, so expect a blowout win lol But seriously, 150 yds rushing and 200 yards passing and we will be looking good as long as our defense plays decent. 150 yds rushing would be really, really good.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:23 AM ^
Watched a little of the Ohio State game last night. Michigan need a running back like Dobbins. Some of the moves he made were unreal. Recruiters need to get on the ball.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:03 AM ^
Agreed, PSU isn’t any where near it’s McSorley/Barkley offense. The Pitt and Iowa defenses smacked them pretty good. If Brown dials up the right game plan and the guys execute, this game is winnable. Tough in a white out to be efficient on offense, so expect a conservative game plan with a few deep shots that need to hit. And don’t count out importance of special teams - punt games in particular will be a key to the game.
Michigan 17 - PSU 13
Don Brown has figured out all this Morehead-based offense scheme has to offer.
Go Blue !!!
October 19th, 2019 at 10:14 AM ^
If our QB - whoever it is - is not running a dozen keeps, we are not winning this game.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:25 AM ^
100 percent. We need to pick up chunks on the ground with our QBs.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:18 AM ^
That’s the trouble with being a Michigan fan, we’re always expected to be better than everyone else and when we lose it is because we underperformed. If we win it is because we were expected to. Even when we were winning consecutive big ten championships in the 90’s it was like that. Need to figure out how to embrace the underdog.
October 19th, 2019 at 11:21 AM ^
That just comes with the territory when you're constantly touting yourself as the winningest program in college football history.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:21 AM ^
The keys are for Michigan to not turn the ball over and prevent Penn State explosive plays (run plays of 12+ yards and pass plays of 18+ yards). If they are able to do that (and maybe force a turnover or two and get a few explosive plays of their own) then this game will turn into a rock fight which Michigan can win.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
Spot on. Turnovers biggest thing, can’t turn it over. Doesn’t bode well for this team. Second, eliminate the big play. Make PSU drive field and eliminate the chunk play, then I think this is a dog fight to the last 7 min. From there, who knows what happens. Whatever O can make a play or FG kicker is reliable.

Protip: Don't put Glasgow on Hamler.
.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:04 AM ^
It's going to be ugly but we win today. Our play makers are going to create some magic. I can't see Shea doing anything of special note and we make a change after failing to create much offense at halftime. We will play a shitty/conservative scheme but ultimately, we edge by yet again. 27-17 Michigan
October 19th, 2019 at 10:13 AM ^
There’s a lot of people there. More than usual
October 19th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
I love when they show all the team-walks to the stadiums before the games. Feels like fall.
October 19th, 2019 at 10:54 AM ^
ESPN brought up SMU currently being undefeated. They failed to mention the fact that Craig James killed five hookers when he was at SMU...

It's amazing how Michigan seems like a total non-entity on this show aside from being the butt of the joke. The fact that Michigan's Sports Information office and/or Harbaugh refuse to see Gameday as an important venue to showcase something, nay, anything about the program continues to boggle the mind.
October 19th, 2019 at 11:06 AM ^
I was at Game Day last year in Ann Arbor against Wisconsin. I thought we showed up well and took it seriously.
They will always focus on the home team.
Other than that, you can't make them come to your campus. Other than by winning games and being relevant.
October 19th, 2019 at 11:11 AM ^
Harbaugh gives them about five minutes of canned, sitdown interviews when they come to Ann Arbor. Today, seems like there's been about thirty seconds of anything from Michigan's end. For years, they've basically given GameDay nothing. Fort Schembechler has never been this maddeningly walled off.
Look at the way James Franklin engaged with the crowd on his segment today.
