One out away. 14 strikeouts so far.

Irrelevant. Not Michigan football.

Verlander is a Michigan sports hero and you best show some respect.

Trying to jinx him?
September 1st, 2019 at 3:38 PM ^
he tried, but it didnt work.
15 Ks and 1 walk on 120 pitches. Sixth pitcher in MLB history with at least 3 no-hitters.

If First Ballot Hall of Fame was ever in doubt I don’t think it is anymore especially with another Cy Young likely.

Verlander has gotten fucked (see Kate's tweet on the subject) in Cy Young voting before. Today's performance certainly helps but Verlander is also leading the league in homers surrendered this season. I could see some ahole voter making that a thing.

He's also gotten fucked by Kate Upton, so I'd say he doesn't have it too bad.
September 1st, 2019 at 11:09 PM ^
That's kinda what Kate's tweet said... that she's the only one allowed to fuck him.

There it is. 3rd of his career. 2nd at Skydome.

Thanks for the tip! That was awesome. Please wear the Olde D when you go into the Hall, Justin.

I wouldn't blame him for going in with the one that got him a ring.
September 1st, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
It's not up to the players what hat they wear anymore. A few guys were paid off to select certain teams (the most egregious being Wade Boggs going in as a Tampa Bay Devil Ray) and they said enough. Don't know who makes that call now (BWAA? HoF brass?) but someone else now has the final say.
If the Tigers didn't choke away every opportunity they had, it wouldn't even be a question what hat JV would wear. But they did, so it will be an interesting decision, especially now that he will likely also have a Cy Young as an Astro in addition to at least one world title.

Tigers drafted him and he played 12 seasons in D. He'll go in as a Tiger. Unless he plays another 8 years in Houston and wins another WS or two. That's highly unlikely.
When Winfield went in there were some games played. Was drafted by Padres and played 8 seasons in SD but most of his success was as a Yankee. Padres gave him a front office job the year before his induction and he chose the SD cap.

nobody cares about MLB baseball...especially on a college board

I care, and I'm on a college football board. I like to think I'm somebody. Maybe not somebody important, but at least somebody.

Dude, you're spider man, definitely a big deal.

Why can’t you wait for the last two outs before saying anything?
September 1st, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
I wanted to give folks a chance to tune in.
How did you like the game last night? Did you fly in for it?

Ha the got a no-no when someone on the internet posted about it before it happened?! Impossible I say, impossible. Jinxes are reaaalllll!
September 1st, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
What a stud. I remember when he almost pitched back to back no hitters in 2011. Took the second one into the 8th. AMAZING!

I'm certainly glad he came to Houston. Even if he wins the Cy Young this year (probable) and another ring (possible) I still think he goes into the HOF as a Tiger. He loves it here and his team but still often fondly talks about his time in Detroit. Such a shame a title never came then.

Nolan Ryan leads with seven. One of them was against the Tigers, and he was so good that Norm Cash brought a table leg to the plate.
