What? He wasn't drafted???? Whoa....
I hope he didn't have any eligibility left...
None left.
@alumnus - You are a tool bro! Stop second guessing these kids who are trying to make some money. At least, if you are going to do it, get your facts straight.
Second guessing what exactly? The kid made a dumb mistake leaving early. Hopefully he is able to make the team. If he doesn’t it will be a decision he will regret his whole life
He didn’t leave early though bro. Stop it!
I don’t understand? He was a junior he still had one more year left correct?
No, he was a senior. He was in that first makeshift class here under Jim and didn't redshirt.
Thank you for the clarification....great decision Karan best of luck in Houston!
Shut your hole you presumptuous nitwit.
"lol way to leave early and not get drafted loser!"
"lol so happy for you man best of luck"

But if he didn't get drafted cause of injuries then he could have gotten a medical for a 6th year!

No /s needed. It (basically) happened that way for Ed Davis.

A quick Google search can prevent you from making yourself look like a complete ass
Nice. Glad he got picked up. Go Blue!!
Ironically, he signed there because Blue go to Jacksonville.
He's gonna surprise some

He'll surprise me if he makes the team.
Kinnel to the bengals
Nice, I forgot about Tyree.
Rip me if you want, but I'm going to have trouble rooting for a guy who skipped his own team's bowl to play in the senior bowl...
It’s not about you or any of us fans! Kids need to look out for themselves. After Butt got hurt, I will no longer be upset about kids not playing in the bowl games. Cut this stuff out man!
Higdon doesn’t owe anything to the fans, but I believe he did owe something to his teammates. Instead, he chose to think only of himself, sat out and didn’t even get drafted. I much prefer the decision Chase Winovich made.

I agree

Wasn't he injured at the time? Dude was on the field when Jake Butt tore his ACL in a meaningless bowl game, gotta think he's just looking out for his future.
April 28th, 2019 at 12:29 AM ^
If his teammates are your concern, they didn’t appear to have an issue with his decision :
“As a locker room and just as a team, especially a defense, we understand the opportunities those guys have outside of football and outside of Michigan football,” said cornerback David Long, who says he plans to play in the Peach Bowl. “I definitely respect that. I respect that to the fullest.”
That’s exactly what I said at the time. He owes us fans nothing, but what about his team mates? Yes, he could get hurt, this is football.
Big difference between the two though. Karan is a borderline NFL so an injury very well could have ended his career. Chase could have gotten injured and still would have been drafted. Karan was in a high leverage situation.
Also, he has a daughter and comes from a less affluent family. Would have less to fall back on if something did go wrong (and probably also couldn't buy insurance since he wasn't likely to be drafted).
Can we cut the "After Butt got hurt" bullshit? Every time you step on the field, there's a chance of injury. Be a fucking man.
April 27th, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
I would think being a man would mean giving yourself the best chance as possible to provide for your family. Being a man means making choices and sacrifices and tough decisions. He played for his teammates for 50+ games and then sat one with little meaning for what I would assume is the chance to not be injured and provide for his family.
I wonder what percentage of the fans crapping on him have kids.
Can you imagine if he’d played the bowl game and gotten hurt? No UFA and a shit ton of medical bills. UM should pay for immediate surgery but who pays for follow up in future?
He was a friggin' captain. Fine, he didn't want to risk injury, but then give up the captaincy. Blows me away, how folks so easily sweep that responsibility to his teammates under the rug.
He quit on his team, which was his right to do...but he still quit on his team, as a captain.
I didn’t really care about the bowl game. It was a meaningless game. I don’t understand the decision to leave early and then not get drafted? Did someone promise him he’s be drafted and then get screwed over or was he just arrogant in thinking he could be drafted? I never understand why anyone would leave EARLY and then not get drafted. I thought Gentry was also foolish leaving early but he proved me wrong and went in the 5th round with guaranteed money. Good for him. Higdons decision baffles me
He didn't leave early. What are you talking about?
My mistake I just looked it up he used up all his eligibility. Apologies I wasn’t aware of that
Clueless poster spewing clueless opinions.....
Yeah, we know. Senior captain sat out bowl game to get ready for the draft. Blah blah blah blah blah.....

honestly let it go. Bosa left early, left school, still flashed his OSU swag at being picked second.
Now granted I think the Bosa family are all meatheads but the point is, people have to look out for their own futures under the current system
Even if you think a guy made a poor decision it makes no sense to root against him. His success could be good for the program. I think Poole could have benefitted from another year in school but I’m hoping like hell that he gets drafted and sticks around the league for years
Sure, I'll take a swing.
Where's your post shitting on Gentry, Bush, and Long, all who left early?
Karan came back for his senior year when he could have been gone a year prior. He played an additional 12 games for UM. He's done more for UM football than you and I and anyone on this board who didn't play 4 seasons plus their bowl game as starters for 3 of those years. He cared more about giving the best chance to make money for his child and family than he did about your thoughts of his reputation (I don't know Karan so this is a guess, but Occam's razor here).
I get The Team x3 mantra. I have mad respect for Chase playing the final bowl game. But I think back to Butt's final bowl game. He had a good insurance policy (as a first round pick and with family who could navigate/finance it). So even though Butt's injury (and subsequent injuries) suck, he's fine financially. I don't understand wanting someone with a great financial opportunity to support their family to risk it at the 12th hour to in a meaningless bowl game so that you have one more inspirational moment in your life. The fact that Karan is on the cusp of making it to the NFL for his family should be inspirational enough.
Well said.
Wait a second- he could have been gone a year earlier to do what? Are you saying he would have gotten drafted after last year? The facts are that Karan is more likely to not make it, as an undrafted free agent, then make it.I hope he does, but the odds are against him. I also hope he has an alternative career in mind and that he got enough out of his education to do well.
IIRC he got about the same draft grade last year as he did this year—6th-UFA. He chose to come back, citing wanting to do more for the team and wanting to have made 1000 yds in a season
April 27th, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
If that was the grade he received last year, then you don't think a big part of his decision to come back was based upon a hope that he would improve that position?
I feel the same. I understand sitting out the bowl game. I don’t like it. But why play in the senior bowl?
Yeah that was somewhat surprising. Maybe the chance to play against greater competition. Maybe the connections that come from meeting all the pro coaches at the senior bowl. I don’t know but I assume it would be done with the purpose to increase ones draft stock
April 27th, 2019 at 10:25 PM ^
It's to meet coaches. Plenty of guys have been drafted in later rounds solely because the coach recognizes a name or a face in a sea of players they've never watched film on.
April 28th, 2019 at 12:06 AM ^
The Sr bowl is a showcase for kids entering the draft. If you’re not going to be selected in rounds 1-3, you don’t turn down a chance to play in that game and show what you have to literally every NFL teams scouting department.
Luckily Karan will be fine in life even if he doesn't make the NFL, give what we've seen from him as a player, parent, and person.
You on the other hand, have to live with being a miserable person who roots against your team's players because they only play 51/52 games for your team.

Piece of shit.
