New offer: 2020 WR Marvin Harrison, Jr.
I'll give you three guesses about who you think Marvin Harrison, Jr.'s dad is.
Michigan just offered him, which I figured for a while would be coming. He goes to Philadelphia (PA) St. Joseph's, which is the same school that Jon Runyan, Jr. attended. Harrison had 50 catches for 725 yards and 8 touchdowns as a sophomore. 247 ranks him as a 4-star, the #3 receiver, and #16 in the 2021 class, although it's still early.
Jim Harbaugh was with the Colts through 1997, and Harrison's dad was drafted in 1996, so they have a little bit of history. He caught 14 touchdowns over those two seasons, though I'm not sure exactly how many came from Harbaugh.
Here's a link to his Hudl (LINK).

Sorry, I don't recognize who his dad is. Never heard that name in my life.

I asked Siri and she told me the same thing.

Alexa thought I was asking about Wilbert Harrison.

I want to go on record. Harvin who?

On the Amazing Doctor Pol, Diane Jr's mom is not Diane Sr.
January 23rd, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
Let me guess. Harris' son.

You have two more tries... /s

Marvin Harrison is one of the most underrated receivers to ever play the game.
He did seem to disappear very quickly after he allegedly shot those guys outside a bar. He seemed like the least likely dude to get caught up in something like that.
January 24th, 2019 at 7:51 AM ^
Not sure you can be underrated and in the HOF at the same time.
January 24th, 2019 at 8:11 AM ^
Simple, whens the last time you heard an announcer or just a friend reference Marvin Harrison, when discussing HoF receivers?
January 23rd, 2019 at 5:30 PM ^
Dad was a great player but is a terrible person. Not sure how to feel about this one.
January 24th, 2019 at 8:24 AM ^
Care to give us a little history on your father so we can accurately define your character?
January 24th, 2019 at 9:58 AM ^
I know how to feel about your comment. Which is that it sucks.
January 24th, 2019 at 2:14 PM ^
My dad is a terrible person too, that doesn't mean shit. Also it's one crime he was never charged in, idk
January 23rd, 2019 at 5:38 PM ^
8 of Harrison’s TDS over those two seasons came from Harbaugh. Including 3 in one game against Kansas City in his rookie year.
January 23rd, 2019 at 5:44 PM ^
In the two seasons they overlapped, Harrison caught 8 and 6 TD passes. I would assume they all came from Harbaugh. Those two years saw him gain about 1700 yards receiving.

These may be the most disappointing comments I’ve ever seen on MGoBlog. You don’t want the coaches to recruit an athlete because of something his parent allegedly did years ago? Get the fuck over yourselves. Not everyone gets born into a perfect situation and precisely nobody is perfect. FFS.
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
Yeah, holding the kid accountable for his dad's actions is unfair. I have no reason to think that Junior is a troublemaker of any sort.
January 24th, 2019 at 1:59 AM ^
But there is One who is perfect. And so is The Father. All must face Judgement.

Here is some rope. Care to elaborate on that?
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
Kids 6'3.5 already and has the genes of one of the greatest NFL WR ever. Fuck what his dad allegedly did. Im all aboard this offer
January 24th, 2019 at 9:48 AM ^
It would have been nice to have Jalen Brunson on the basketball team last year. His dad was kind of a messed up guy.
January 24th, 2019 at 10:28 AM ^
I don’t think Harbaugh and the program he runs get nearly as much credit as they deserve for recruiting kids with good character (and probably weeding out suspect work ethic).
It’s not an accident this program has mostly avoided kids in trouble. I’m sure Harbaugh does his research.
Evidence shows Marvin Sr to be a good lockeroom influence with discipline and work ethic.
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
I hope you didn’t just get here. Trust me they’ll get worse. Some posters stray away from positive posts on purpose. Poor kid. Good luck Jr., and GO BLUE!
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:25 PM ^
Agree 100%. I expected a couple comments about it, but about 95% have been murder jokes. Does anyone even know his background/living situation? Pretty sure Harbaugh does, more than anyone else commenting anyways
January 23rd, 2019 at 9:40 PM ^
Seriously. Hasn't anyone watched season 7 of game of thrones? Jon Snow already covered all this ground.
January 23rd, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
I deleted some of the comments. They were disappointing for sure. Everything doesn’t have to be “ZING I GOT YOU BRO!!!!”
January 24th, 2019 at 9:06 AM ^
I agree with the logic of your post, though your anger seems a little disproportionate to the situation here.
I also find it amusing, and a little sad, that today it's deemed horrible to judge a man based upon the actions of his father but just fine to do the same based on the actions of his "ancestors".
January 24th, 2019 at 9:46 AM ^
You're doing an awful lot of projecting there. I don't think anyone was saying they don't want the coaches to recruit the kid. Just a lot of people pointing the obvious that his dad, despite being a HOF, likely killed a dude but was never charged for uh....reasons, I guess.
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:13 PM ^
Harrison used to be my favorite football player. I knew nothing about him, and I thought he was.a good guy.
How he was inducted over TO because TO caused superficial issues is one of the most laughable things I've ever seen. There are 3 guys in the NFL hall of fame that are murderers, but TO can't get in first ballot?
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:17 PM ^
T.O. pissed off the wrong guy, the one who holds sway over the whole NFL:
Jeff Garcia.
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:19 PM ^
Nothing wrong with Harrison. The TO thing (see above) was not a good look for the committee. Of course TO managed to beclown himself about it, too, but that’s TO being TO.
January 23rd, 2019 at 7:39 PM ^
Nothing wrong with Harrison?
January 23rd, 2019 at 6:44 PM ^
I recall a news story about an incident involving Sr. in north Philly, which can be a high crime area. If he was not prosecuted, it may be because he had a defense under the law, i.e. self defense, defense of others. That can happen in high crime areas. I would not paint Sr. with a broad brush unless you know more than that what has been said in this post. The facts matter. And as mentioned it has nothing to do with Jr.

Worth a read...
January 24th, 2019 at 12:42 AM ^
wow. thank you.
nothing like excellent writing to make you spend 15-20 minutes of your life reading about something you didn't really care about 30 seconds before
January 24th, 2019 at 2:08 AM ^
Interesting story. I wish I could speed read.
It could make a good movie.

January 23rd, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
He doesn't have his dad's speed (yet) but he sure can catch the ball.
January 23rd, 2019 at 9:16 PM ^
Crazy that reggie Wayne's son is already going into college football!
January 23rd, 2019 at 9:44 PM ^
I hated Sr. so much when he played; he was Deion Sanders, except on offense. As soon as he caught the ball, he did one of two things: step out of bounds to avoid a hit, or fall to the turf to avoid a hit. I think he played close to 15 years without ever being legit tackled. Knowing now how damaging football can be, I think he was a pretty smart dude more than a chickenshit.
January 23rd, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
It's joe Namath.

Not just a shooter!
January 24th, 2019 at 1:09 AM ^
I don't need to guess who I think his dad is. ba dum.
January 24th, 2019 at 1:36 AM ^
Daddy Marvin was a game changing WR and fun to watch. Top fantasy pick in the day.
January 24th, 2019 at 8:26 AM ^
This is still the most impressive catch I've ever seen in a football game:
People talk about Beckhams catch, but this one had so much significance to us Colts fans (not to mention the incredible body control). This was one of the few catches he ever celebrated, and I can't blame him.
