Per Field Yates.
This is good news.

Sweet baby jesus thank you. He is a straight up stud that I did not want to see play our defense again.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:43 PM ^
Not a great day for OSU fans.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
Based on what I've seen online, their reaction is mixed on Mattison.
They were very happy at the news of their LB coach not returning. I just hope they keep their grubby hands off of Al Washington.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:48 PM ^
I think Mattison has slowed down recently. His recruiting dropped off, and the line didn't look great this year. If OSU ends up with nobody but him from our staff, I can't imagine that they will be happy about that.
If Harbaugh hired their near retirement DL Coach and made him Co-DC, it would be an inferno in here.
January 7th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
Hes as good as ours
January 7th, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
Even though we wanted him to stay, pretty sure we all knew this was coming, especially when Fields enrolled at OSU.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:17 PM ^
"We" wanted him to stay? Who is "we"?
January 7th, 2019 at 3:23 PM ^
Spivan, and Mattison. That's the entire list.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:44 PM ^
Is this another example of Ryan Day playing 3D chess and Harbaugh playing checkers? I am sure it will get spun that way on 11W and this website.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
Hoping the Lions take a look at him.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:21 PM ^
As I recall the few times Haskins was running for his life, he was a below average QB. Not even sure he got his jersey dirty the whole season except for the Purdue game.
The Lions need/want the QBs playing tonight .
January 7th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
See, we can have nice things
January 7th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
More like "the worst possible outcome didn't happen this time."
January 7th, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
I call not having to game plan for Haskins again "having a nice thing"
January 7th, 2019 at 2:47 PM ^
First round draft pick?
January 7th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
I was bullish on Haskins at the beginning of this season, but I absolutely believe he will be a top 15 if not top 10 pick this year. He impressed me with a lot of the throws he showed he is capable of making.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:57 PM ^
Do you know what bullish means?
January 7th, 2019 at 3:04 PM ^
obviously not since you are asking, but this is the internet so I can make a word mean whatever I want.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:24 PM ^
+1 for candor!
January 7th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
Do you even know what candor means or are you using my internet wild card as well?
January 8th, 2019 at 10:10 AM ^
That shit is funny right there. :0)
January 7th, 2019 at 3:38 PM ^
You had the city right you just wanted the nfl team's mascot, not the nba team's.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:08 PM ^
thank you, I needed a laugh today.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
I've seen him mocked recently to the Giants at #6.
January 7th, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
Many mocks of him to NYG. Cards, Niners, and Jets are / should be set. Raiders and Bucs are interesting, but not desperate. Great place for him. NY. Horrible OL. Psycho WR. Cut in 3 years!
January 7th, 2019 at 3:08 PM ^
He will go top 10 almost guaranteed. QB class is very rough this year.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Who is better at QB? He might even be a top 5 pick, depending what teams need a QB.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
In my opinion, no one (especially since Herbert is returning to Oregon). But I'm not a NFL scout.
Haskins is probably more coveted than Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Will Grier, or the others
January 7th, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
I’m surprised this didn’t get mentioned on the board this past Saturday or maybe I missed it but as Urban Meyer was sitting courtside with Justin Fields at their basketball game Tate Martell was posting pics of himself sitting about 40 rows up. Crootin.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
This was talked about on 97.1 in Columbus today, the consensus is that it was not a good look and that they would be pissed if they were Martell.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:34 PM ^
Good, let him transfer and they can have the pleasure of Michigan quarterback depth circa 2008 - 2017. Tate can have a seat right next to the lifelong buckeye kid who had his QB scholarship pulled by Urban a few years back
January 7th, 2019 at 3:49 PM ^
This is all good..getting a 70 year old CO-DC, Tate is like "WTF?"..... I hope all this magic in the air starts the demise, I guess not demise too much talent their, but i hope this is the start of a nice dip in production
January 7th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
The Fields transfer must have put him over the edge since Fields is already at Haskins level and all (according to multiple moron, I assume, Buckeye posters around here)
January 7th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
I expect you have it backwards. It was announced today, decided a while ago. Fields transferred when Haskins (or unnamed OSU booster) told him he was leaving.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
now lets just get martell to transfer and fields sits out and here... we... go....
January 7th, 2019 at 2:57 PM ^
I think the better scenario would be for Martell to win the starting job and see where Fields transfers to next.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:54 PM ^
Yay!
(But not Yay! Girl worthy, since it's not about us.)
January 7th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
he's going to have to shed a few pounds to be able to play WR in the nfl......
January 7th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
Hopefully the Lions will take him. That will teach him a lesson.
January 7th, 2019 at 8:04 PM ^
Giants fan here.
Watch. We'll take him.
Damn it.
January 7th, 2019 at 2:59 PM ^
NOTHING BUT GOOD NEWS SINCE GREG LEFT. COINCIDENCE?????
January 7th, 2019 at 3:01 PM ^
I know he looked good this year, but I can't shake the feeling he's going to be a disappointment in the NFL. He's great when not under much pressure and when he can make a quick read and throw to a streaking receiver, but every Meyer QB since Alex Smith has struggled with more complex schemes and I wonder if that'll continue here. Wish him luck because I genuinely don't know much about him, but if I'm drafting a QB I'm definitely going to want to see if he bucks the usual Meyer QB issues.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
The most NFL ready QB OSU has had in the last thirty years was Cardale Jones. I don't think you're out of bounds for being wary of the success he might have in the NFL, given OSU's history of contributing literally nothing to the NFL pool of quarterbacks
January 7th, 2019 at 3:33 PM ^
I was about to type "Brian Hoyer" before I realized he played for MSU.
This set me off on a short research project to find an OSU QB who had a meaningful NFL career. Please note that I said "short." I didn't find one.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
I agree that NFL scouts should be wary of Meyer QB's, ALOM, but I disagree that Jones was more NFL ready.
IMO Haskins is far more prepared to enter the draft. Jones had only 269 pass attempts his entire college career, only 175 his last year at OSU. He also seemed pretty immature (additional prep school year, "we ain't come here to play school" comment, for example).
Haskins threw the ball 533 times this year, and seemed to be a pretty good leader and a mature guy.
They're similar in terms of size and arm, but Meyer built his offense around Haskins' passing. That has to have helped him prepare for the NFL.
January 7th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
Haskins had 269 attempts in the Purdue game.
January 7th, 2019 at 3:39 PM ^
How much of that is just that it's pretty damn difficult to be a quarterback in the NFL? I'm thinking of Jeff Tedford, who coached a lot of guys who wound up getting drafted but ended up struggling or in the NFL: Trent Dilfer, David Carr, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington and Kyle Boller.
But he also coached potential Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
