And a UCF loss, too. But like you said, whatever.

You mean the SEC standings....
November 27th, 2018 at 7:30 PM ^
UCF is going to be in trouble after losing their main player. That QB they had was really good with his team and the scheme. I know they still won big without him after he went down at 7-0 but the conference championship opponent will be a tougher team to beat.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:31 PM ^
They're playing Memphis, a team they beat by only one point earlier in the year. So a loss is definitely possible.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
But... how?
November 27th, 2018 at 7:29 PM ^
Because the rest of CFB is really, REALLY, mediocre this season. There’s a clear top tier, a thin second tier, and a vast ocean of meh.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:40 PM ^
Yeah, there have been more zero loss and one-loss P5 teams than two loss teams for about 2-3 weeks now, which is obviously very odd.
What mayhem that would be though: UGA gets blown out (likely), OU gets blown out (unlikely), OSU probably doesn't have to get blown out, they just need to lose, and then who would go?
I almost think Washington would get back into it. Could Texas even with a loss to Maryland?
November 27th, 2018 at 7:45 PM ^
Worshington has some bad L's.
Auburn, Oregon, and Cal. Yeck. Granted, it's be a combined 10 points, but still.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:46 PM ^
Washington is going to jump 7 spots in 1 week? No chance. The Maryland loss eliminates Texas.
November 28th, 2018 at 2:03 AM ^
I agree it's far-fetched, and I repeat who goes in that scenario? Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way M goes over OSU, OU or UGA without playing a conference title game and coming off a 23-point loss.
But OSU and OU definitely wouldn't go after losing to meh teams in their title games. So it'd probably, unfortunately be UGA.
Too bad UCF QB got hurt, because if not, and if they beat Memphis, I would think it should be them.
November 27th, 2018 at 9:03 PM ^
Why, Michigan of course!
November 28th, 2018 at 10:22 AM ^
College football has become a quagmire, to be sure. It's difficult to determine the top 4 this year. That said, I would prefer to have beaten Ohio State this year and lost in the B1G championship game to NW, and I'm sure most would concur.
There's always next year!
November 27th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
It's a fair ranking for what it's worth. But damn, even if a miracle happened and Michigan got in the playoff, that OSU loss will still hurt like hell
November 27th, 2018 at 7:32 PM ^
There’s no miracle to be had. Any one of those 11 win teams is getting in before us.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
I don't know, I think it'd be hilarious.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
Let's say the scenario pans out and we somehow make it in the CFP (I think I saw ESPN having us at a 2% chance just now). BTW - a scenario that I didn't even think was possible until an hour ago. But as a hypothetical - would Rashan Gary be eligible to play? Would he want to play?
November 27th, 2018 at 7:58 PM ^
I agree that it is fair, taking the landscape of Division I into consideration. I will say, however, if that "miracle" were to happen - extremely unlikely, of course - I would probably chuckle for a moment, even remembering all to well how mind-bogglingly awful a certain game was.
November 27th, 2018 at 8:45 PM ^
I thought we all agreed to not talk about the Horror again?
November 27th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
UCF is getting the 1974 Dennis Franklin collar bone treatment, I see.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
Will likely be Michigan in the Peach vs. Florida if the favorites all win this weekend.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
and since that's only a 5 hour drive... I'll be there. Can't say no to a bowl game that's close by
November 27th, 2018 at 7:30 PM ^
As long as it isn't UCF
November 27th, 2018 at 8:49 PM ^
I could go for playing UCF, so long as they could get Scott Frost to guest Coach.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:36 PM ^
Why not fiesta tho? Don't they pick after rose?
November 27th, 2018 at 7:41 PM ^
Hope not, I'm getting tired of playing Florida.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:49 PM ^
At least we know it would be a win
November 27th, 2018 at 8:04 PM ^
Wrong. The guy who made Florida suck is now... employed by Michigan!
after USC I can’t see why anyone would view a bowl win as automatic.
November 27th, 2018 at 8:04 PM ^
M owns Florida. Keep going to the well too many times... Would like to see another matchup.
November 27th, 2018 at 8:24 PM ^
Most likely not. UM vs LSU in Peach.
November 27th, 2018 at 8:40 PM ^
not sure. we have played them twice the past 3 years. i have my doubts we play them again.
November 27th, 2018 at 9:00 PM ^
Please no Peach Bowl. It's literally worse than the Rose in every way.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:26 PM ^
man, that sucks.
The Peach is the worst NY6 bowl. Florida is a team we've played approximately a zillion times. Why does the CFP hate Wazzou so much? WSU/UM in the "we're 0-7 against our rival so now we're sad" bowl in Arizona, plz
November 27th, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
I enjoyed how ESPN conjured up some fantastic chaos theory where supposedly we had a 33% chance of getting in. Reality is zero percent, even if everyone loses.
My interest in the rankings is now limited to seeing whether it's the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl or other bowl.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:31 PM ^
Pretty much all the analysts are saying it’ll be Peach vs Florida if chalk holds this weekend.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:43 PM ^
Oh, yeah, Florida, for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, Michigan has never played LSU and hasn't played Georgia since the 1960s, but woo, Florida.
(I know that Georgia is pretty much a lock for the Sugar Bowl against Texas because of tie-ins, but I kind of liked the idea of Michigan/LSU in the Fiesta Bowl.)
November 27th, 2018 at 8:12 PM ^
And also in the Outback Bowl back early 2000s. We've beaten them enough. Time to move on to someone else.
November 27th, 2018 at 8:43 PM ^
also beat tebow in carr's swan song.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:55 PM ^
Seriously, how the FUCK are we going to play Florida again? On December 29th? Why can’t shit even break so we can just play in the Rose Bowl??? Or just NOT FLORIDA?
November 27th, 2018 at 8:39 PM ^
No, they aren’t. Others have UM in Fiesta which makes much more sense seeing as they have a larger fan base and are higher ranked than LSU.
UM-UCF is more likely if UCF wins.
November 27th, 2018 at 11:30 PM ^
Playing UCF is literally a nightmare scenario. Beating them does absolutely nothing for us. It won't even make us feel good. Fuck, no please.
November 27th, 2018 at 8:53 PM ^
They’ve also stated that they WOULD NOT put us together because the rankings would tank! So I’ll go on record today and say that we will more than likely play anybody but Florida in any Bowl game in 2018-19
November 27th, 2018 at 7:29 PM ^
So, I guess hope for a miracle?
November 27th, 2018 at 10:52 PM ^
The entire rosters of three teams above us are all declared ineligible?
The meteor smashes into Columbus? (Not figuratively)
I dunno
November 27th, 2018 at 7:29 PM ^
Not sure how the Buckeyes pass Oklahoma if both teams win. Thought UCF would pass Michigan.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:35 PM ^
IMO, at least two-thirds of the other teams in the Top25 would be favored over UCF on a neutral field. They really aren't that good, even before they lost their starting QB.
November 27th, 2018 at 7:57 PM ^
2/3 of the team? UCF is #7 in F+/- combined rankings. But without their starting QB, it's possible but UCF has quite a few players who are getting looks by the NFL.
I thought last year team was better than this year team
November 27th, 2018 at 7:38 PM ^
If Oklahoma barely beats Texas and OSU beats Northwestern like they beat Wisconsin in 2014, it could happen.
The committee would love to have another Saban/Meyer matchup.
