I hate appreciation threads but here we are: Jake Moody saved our asses tonight
It is what it is: I think you guys throw out appreciation threads for anyone that does what is expected of them.
But I’m posting one myself because without Jake Moody we would have lost a game that we were supposed to win by 28. He scored 5 more points than our offense. And he got the nod in warmups nonetheless.
Jake, thank you for keeping our season alive. Go Blue.

MVP for sure.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:07 PM ^
I'm 100% sure Nordin would not have been 6 for 6. Moody was huge.
November 18th, 2018 at 1:16 AM ^
Agreed. I doubt he would of made half of them. I hate to be mean as I know Nordin certainly wants to do right but most of his kicks look terrible (especially this year) and "knuckle" often.
Moody has really nice rotation and gets "up" quickly. Dude was lights out !
November 18th, 2018 at 10:56 AM ^
Without Moody, we just wouldn't have kicked. Likely would have ended up with approximately the same number of points.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
I’ll take 18 points for Moody! I believe he got a scholarship too.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:49 PM ^
My favorite comment on his Hello PWO post was something like “pay up Northville kid we know you’re good for it!”
...and he’s plenty good for it! He’s $$$

Geographist.

Technically 20 points since he didn't miss the pats
Edit: 19 points since we went for two after one TD
November 17th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
great game by Moody for sure. But we would have lost without him ? I doubt that.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
With a less reliable kicker, our red zone playcalling would have been different. We were confident Moody would deliver three points and kept it conservative as a result.
November 18th, 2018 at 8:47 AM ^
There is also a chance we would have gone for it on 4th down instead of kicking on some of those field goals.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
Moody did a great job. No knuckle ball kicks.
Not to beat up on Nordin, but he was an adventure on his kicks.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:34 PM ^
I had to use my whamma jamma mojo lean to get at least one or two of those FG's inside the uprights. But he certainly was the MVP of the game.
November 18th, 2018 at 7:33 AM ^
A friend of mine was at the game and said Nordin was the first one kicking in warmups. He made his first attempt but it was one of those knuckle ball type kicks. And that was the last of Nordin.
Theres a chance he just got Wally Pipp’d.

Fellow Northville Mustang alum.
And yes, I haven't posted here in like 6 months and this will likely be my last post for good, but had to say it.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:22 PM ^
Hello! It's been a while.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:52 PM ^
Why your last post for good?
November 18th, 2018 at 7:20 AM ^
He would answer, but he'd have to post again.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:59 PM ^
got the game ball... go mustangs!!!!!!....
November 18th, 2018 at 12:52 AM ^
I have carnal knowledge of a gal from Northville HS. Does that count? Go Mustangs!
November 18th, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
Hello!
November 17th, 2018 at 10:10 PM ^
Moody! Moody! Moody! 6FGs! Hot damn!
November 17th, 2018 at 10:15 PM ^
His performance should go down in michigan lore after we win our next two.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:24 PM ^
Next four
November 17th, 2018 at 10:15 PM ^
Gutty move to put him out there, and he made everything. Huge. A big deal going into a game where we might need to make some kicks.
We still win without him, though; Michigan probably goes for it on fourth down and gets a couple of tds. But I'm fine with this.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:02 PM ^
I guarantee you Harbaugh did not have the offense stifle itself at the 20 yd line just to see how Moody would respond.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:45 PM ^
we are keeping our red zone offense a secret strategy? Wish I could believe that!
November 18th, 2018 at 8:54 AM ^
I interpreted this to mean faced with going on 4th, or getting a new kicker ready for the game, they chose to kick. Now we know if we're inside 40, we have options.
November 18th, 2018 at 11:57 AM ^
Inside 25, yes. No kick was > 34 yards. But they were true and that's what matters.
Also, excellent description and usage of "whamma jamma mojo lean"!
November 17th, 2018 at 10:59 PM ^
We can never know what never happened. The fact is Michigan again struggled on offense on the opponent side of the field and Moody turned out to be a weapon. You so easily dismiss the accomplishments of Moody, I doubt the guys wearing the pads do, but grant others a hypothetical level of performance they demonstrably did not have today.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:14 PM ^
I don't think anyone is dismissing him going 6-6. That is awesome and really encouraging.
It's just that the "We lose without him" line of reasoning is questionable. We gained over 500 yards of offense in this game.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:18 PM ^
He gets the game ball. Without question.
November 18th, 2018 at 1:21 AM ^
Perhaps, but it sure would've been a lot more difficult.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:15 PM ^
Lost without him? C'mon man, they were 30 yard kicks. Even Nordin makes 4-5 of those. Great performance though, hope he finds a nice party to go to tonight.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:24 PM ^
You serious, Clark? Did you not see Shankasaurus Rex pregame?
November 17th, 2018 at 10:41 PM ^
Nordin only reliably makes kicks from 45 to 50yards. Under 45 he is a disaster for some reason.
November 18th, 2018 at 12:07 AM ^
Yeah , I'd still use Nordin from 45+
November 18th, 2018 at 12:48 AM ^
He tries to kill the ball every.fucking.time.
He cares not for accuracy. He has to prove to everyone how big of a leg he has each kick, and it kills his accuracy.
Does he really need to kick it over the net on every extra point? No, but he goes for it every time anyway.
Kid needs to get a grip. He's got a leg and everyone knows it. If he could get his form down and be consistently on target every time he could be an all-timer, but instead he tries to kick the ball over them mountains every time out.
Quinn -- newsflash! The NFL doesn't care if you can place kick the ball 76 yards. They just want it to go through for three points 95% of the time!
November 17th, 2018 at 10:15 PM ^
Good Job Kid.

Tight pants points hardly renown.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:20 PM ^
I’d be moody had we lost
November 18th, 2018 at 12:04 AM ^
if you were moody we would've lost
November 18th, 2018 at 8:34 AM ^
That is also most likely correct.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:27 PM ^
Or we would have gone for it on 4th down in some of those and walked away with 7 rather than 3. Who knows. Well done to Moody. I hope he keeps it up.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:03 PM ^
Or walked away with zero instead of three.
November 17th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
3rd-down playcalling may be different as well if you can't trust your kicker.
November 17th, 2018 at 10:32 PM ^
He was on fire, nice to have a consistent kicker
