Hey, they got a couple years with Brohm and his roid raging DC. They ran some trick plays, played some dirty defense, and beat OSU. That's more than a lot of programs get in a decade.

Yes....beating OSU 3 times, more than we've gotten in a decade.
Good news though....Meyer narcissistic self-destruction reaching UF levels.
Harbaugh football machine nearing completion.
Hoping Brohm does not end up at OSU!

Who would have guessed the guy that got fired from his last job for crashing his motorcycle with his mistress on board would have trouble with ethical standards at his next job?
Don't stress, Bobby. I hear there may be a new Head Coaching opening in Columbus in a couple months.

I know it's just the newspaper's description, and not school's press release, but I loved the phrasing "following his 2-5 start and failure to uphold values to the school and ethical standards." That phrasing, and particularly the ordering of the reasons is just beautiful. Not hiding the fact that one of these is the reason he's fired, and one is to lower the buyout.

Is Louisville THAT much better a job than Purdue? If I'm Brohm, I'm waiting to see what else opens up. If he beats Sparty this weekend, he moves into the discussion to take over for Urbs.

I am not convinced every coach wants to go back to their alma mater plus he has bumped up Purdue recruiting BIG TIME. Why do a rebuild at Louisville when he can comfortably compete in the B1G West.
Combine that with Louisville's primary booster in who knows what kind of financial/mental shape and I don't see them able to open the coffers for a guy like Brohm.

Why are people so convinced Brohm is leaving? If he can get Purdue up and running that is a cushy gig - the only real competition (currently) is Wisconsin. It's not like the Big West is a gauntlet.
He's in the Big10, playing for a school that could make him a God, with some history of success (Tiller, Brees, etc). It's not like he's in the MAC.

If Auburn fires Gus both of these schools will be heavy after Brohm with cash. Tough for Purdue, though I could possibly see Brohm understanding the value of a weak Big Ten West and trying to stick it out through the Rondale Moore era to see what he can build. Definitely will be interesting.

If Brohm goes to Louisville, I could see Moore transferring in the off season to follow him to Louisville. Moore is also originally from Louisville so it would be a homecoming and another chance to play with the head coach that recruited you and knows how to properly use you in the game. And with the way he's playing, he should be an easy 3 years and out to the NFL

Auburn is not firing Gus. Unless they are incompetent. So I guess anything is possible.
You don't fire a coach that you just extended on contract. His buyout is $32 million. It's not like Auburn is massively underperforming....they're not THAT bad to justify that buyout.

I think Brohm is going to stay. I know its his alma mater, but in the same division with Clemson and Florida State vs. Wisconsin and the B1G West.
If Petrino had another affair that nullified the worst contract buyout in College Football....that would be fucking hilarious.

Other than Brohm doing his version of the Harbaugh/Frost homecoming, an actual big boy program could come knocking.

Wow, cut him early to go all in on Brohm. Boosters came up with that buyout money pretty fast. I feel bad for Rondale Moore if that happens, kid came from the Louisville area to play for Brohm at Purdue. If he follows him back there after just one year he would have to sit a year.

If this is true, Louisville had to do it now so they could start working behind the scenes with Brohm.

Come on. It's not like he has a history of bailing on a team, have an affair with a co-ed, and being really careless as a motorcycle operator. It's just a down year. I swear, Louisville football and basketball coaches never get a fair shake.

I hope they knew this was coming when they decided to hire the guy a second time. Louisville really has no one to blame but itself. But they're used to hiring sleazeballs so it is what it is.
Louisville is going to go balls to the wall for Brohm. The question for Brohm will be whether he wants to go home and coach a decent ACC team, or hold out and wait for a true "big-time" offer to head his way. A place that can offer him more money, better facilities, better access to recruits, and just an overall more prestigious football program.
After the beatdown he put on OSU the other night, and with the way Purdue is trending, it's not going to be long before a school like Auburn or USC call him and ask for his services. Maybe not this year, but he's going to be #1 on everybody's short list for coaching searches. But only Louisville can offer him the chance to coach his alma mater, and that may be exactly what he wants. One way or another, Purdue should enjoy him while they've got him.
