Cue the Harbaugh is overrated rhetoric. He's now 8-8 in his last 16 games.

Yo man the bandwagon has a busted axle and the hitch rusted out.
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:42 AM ^
I jumped off with Gary Moeller. My choice has been confirmed for years now.

I would fire him before most wake up!

Everything's fine. We've been absolved of our mediocrity....
(For every reference to Amadeus, just insert Ohio State)

Thanks for this! I feel much better now after watching F. Murray. However, I don't feel good about seeing how fat our head coach has become. WTF, show some discipline. Your role is to help mentor and shape young men and to be a positive role model. It's always shocked me that any athletic coach (not to mention former athlete) can present themselves as obese, particularly in progressive communities (i.e. most college campuses) where people value health and wellness.

That was awesome. Thank you.

nice pants and glasses, though

Hoke may have been 6-10.
September 1st, 2018 at 11:07 PM ^
I don't understand how you manage the clock like that. Looked like a high school team in terms of urgency.
September 1st, 2018 at 11:32 PM ^
Even more important than in-game management or in-season management, we must talk off-season management.
We're not closing on elite tackle prospects. We're trading on-field chances for European Vacations.
The result is what we saw tonight.
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:32 AM ^
Come on. That's so misguided.
If anything, I think the conclusion you can come to about Harbaugh is that recruiting is the one thing he actually is good at, and not coaching.
Face the facts. Michigan is like a borderline top 25 football team in terms of general perception. The fact that ANY top tier recruits choose Michigan at all is a little preposterous. Based on our performance we should be getting recruiting classes ranked in the 20s.
We don't land top tackle recruits not because Harbaugh is neglecting the recruiting. We lose them for the same reason that Tennessee, and Nebraska, and Colorado don't land them. We're a mediocre (well ok, mediocre-plus) program with some history. You can't MAKE a top tackle recruit go to a mediocre school just by working them harder.
If you've been "waiting till next year!" for basically 10-15 years, then you're just a middling program. We're not bad, but miles away from elite.

What bugs the hell out of me is that we are projected to have more than enough talent and I think we do have more than enough talent in many positions to win consistently (WR, RB, Defense).
But it seems like the OL consistently has breakdowns and those breakdowns consistently kill drives, whether it's because of a TFL or hurry or a sack or a forced INT. Consistently.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:51 AM ^
We haven't been landing the top OT prospects because we don't pay them and our competitors do.
September 2nd, 2018 at 4:46 PM ^
For those that begged this comment, 2 names:
Laremy Tunstill
Isiah Wilson
Fill in the blanks
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:19 PM ^
Maybe someone on here can name all the elite OTs we missed on over the last 3 years. I've blocked it out.
I just know for a while now it has sounded like someone trying to hit a fly with a whiffleball bat..."whiff! Whiff! Whiff!"
Horrible sound.

I love Michigan. My fandom predates my own memory. I hope they get back to the football program they once were. But I wouldn't trade championships for what Michigan stands for. It is so much more than football. I believe Coach Harbaugh will always maintain the integrity of the program. Watch the Michigan in France special on BTN. That kind of stuff is worth more than any football game. Watch the news about PSU, MSU and OSU. Not having Michigan involved in that crap is worth more than any title. I'm not saying they are mutually exclusive, I'm just saying I wouldn't want any other coach for this program. Ever.
September 2nd, 2018 at 11:17 AM ^
You know, it isn't any either/or scenario. There are other coaches who can win football games and not be embarrassing dirtbags like Meyer and Dantonio.
I'm happy the way Harbaugh leads this team in life as well as football . . . but the football side isn't cutting it at the moment and hasn't been performing up to expectations since he got here.
Patience? Sure, but where is the progress?
I'd happily trade trips to France for wins, that's what the fucking football coach is supposed to do!
It doesn't mean selling out your integrity.
September 2nd, 2018 at 11:23 AM ^
Like who? Maybe dabo? James Franklin had a good year after several bad ones. Who are you referring to?
September 2nd, 2018 at 7:27 PM ^
"I'd happily trade trips to France for wins"
Me: I'd happy trade away a scholarship if it meant a Big Ten championship every year.
I think I am winning in the "stupid Michigan football trades that aren't even real" contest you have started.
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:32 PM ^
id want bo or mo or lloyd or even les miles.
because all of them would realize how bad the OL is... and fix it. we are in year 4 and they still are bad.
and are things really on merit? his son is a coach. runyan and wangler get scholarships over perhaps more deserving non legacies. we went astray thanks to bill martin. THE OL IS ALL THAT MATTERS... and we have no T.... this is on harbaugh.. should have at least two third year guys starting now... instead they shat bed and only figured it out when frey arrived.
September 3rd, 2018 at 8:40 AM ^
Why do you think Harbaugh went out and got guys like Frey and Warriner (even if Frey didn't pan out)? Because he knew there were OL issues and he was trying to fix them.

Same here. I’ve been a fan since my freshman year in high school. I graduated from Michigan in ‘82. I can’t pick another school, but my pro team fandom has changed as I’ve moved to different cities and/or Michigan grads start playing there.
September 1st, 2018 at 11:36 PM ^
Yet, they had the ball at midfield with a minute to go. That's plenty of time. The coaches need to fix that offensive line. Otherwise, we're getting pounded left and right this year

September 2nd, 2018 at 8:23 AM ^
“Pounded from the left and right.”
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:59 AM ^
This is why results based thinking is flawed. If they managed the clock better they could have survived a Nd first down without the game ending. They may have been able to get the ball back with a timeout left. A minute of time would also allow for 4-5 additional plays which is a major advantage. All those things were thrown away by bad clock management. That’s a negative.
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:25 AM ^
Did Michigan use a FB today? I was so pissed I don’t remember seeing a FB. He might’ve been in there around the first FG but i was flipping between the game and PornHub at that time.
September 2nd, 2018 at 12:34 AM ^
yes, the did on a few play got at least 1-2 first down. and another one a few yards on our own 5 yeard line. Mason was pretty good. We definitely need to see him more on cup cake game.
We however, need to get these WRs ready though. They are talented, but still need more polished.
September 2nd, 2018 at 1:10 AM ^
The difference between our Oline and your pornhub video? At least one came today.
September 2nd, 2018 at 9:14 AM ^
We did near the goal line to go 1st and goal from the 5 to the 2yd line. The following play I believe was the sack to the 10 from the shotgun. We should’ve stuck with power run game and gotten 6 that possession.
September 1st, 2018 at 11:08 PM ^
Uh, does anything need to be said?
September 1st, 2018 at 11:08 PM ^
Fire Pep.Hamilton. The offense has been an unmitigated disaster since Fisch left.
It's pretty clear to me that being the OC and HC is too much for even Harbaugh to handle. He needs to bring in a ringer and let go of the reigns a bit.
September 1st, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
I like you, Hatter, but I need to leave this here:
Anyone who thinks the gameplay/playcalling was somehow the major issue wasn’t watching closely. Michigan’s problem began and ended at the tackle positions. There were short passes; there were deep shots; there were plays designed to mitigate the OL deficiencies; there were formations giving the tackles help and formations spreading the D out.
But until that last drive when ND’s DL was gassed (not coincidently Michigan’s best drive) Michigan’s tackles got destroyed on almost every play.
You simply can’t do anything about that. Not Chip Kelly, not Lane Kiffin, not Doug Pederson, nobody.
Harbaugh is, of course, ultimately responsible for the tackles too. He was the one that trusted Drev to recruit and develop them. But that’s not a game plan issue or a playcalling issue. Not at all.
September 1st, 2018 at 11:28 PM ^
Agree. This loss falls squarely on the O-line, and more specifically the tackles.
September 2nd, 2018 at 8:58 AM ^
NO.
Absolutely not.
If you're gonna blame anybody, blame our DEFENSE for getting us 21 points in the hole through bad penalties and allowing Wimbush clear running lanes, all in the first half.
September 2nd, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
I mean that's partially true but looking at the game as a whole, the defense did fine. Rough start followed up by better play in the second half.
September 2nd, 2018 at 11:55 AM ^
I hate to name names because these are college kids, but I did notice ND defenders pouring through our left side like they weren't even being hit. Because they weren't. Being hit.
