Kinda surprised Jake got it as a junior but Devin didn't.

Congrats to these guys! I am sure they all deserve this and have the respect of the team.

Well, then I think you should cease posting until you grow up some more, say around 40.

I read that three times before I realized it says junior not janitor. I couldn't figure out what you were trying to say about Ryan.

How was bragging camp?

You've proved your superior acumen and fandom over the rest of us. I invite you to graduate from providing content to somebody else's blog to starting your own blog where your wisdom can be shared with all, with no distortion to whom should go the credit. Best of luck, your insight will be sorely missed.

Gordon and Avery are some what surprising, good for them hopefully it will inspire their play to a new level for this season

Isn't that why we have an edit button??? I don't see a problem in revising or rewording a post.

I have high hopes for Cam Gordon but he might be the first captain in a decade to ride the pine.

Avery surprises me.

I don't really like the 4 captain system. I think you need an offensive and defensive one and that is it.
Those guys are all certainly deserving after all they've been through. Jake Ryan is the first captain that is a RS Jr.

Yeah, you're right. I just forgot to put in the Brady Hoke era at the end of it.

Brady was only captain his senior year.

That's not what he said in his speech to the team last week.

What's your issue with 4 captains? I'm honestly curious.
August 25th, 2013 at 10:45 PM ^
It just makes more sense.
You see, back before the two-platoon system (offensive & defensive units), one captain made sense because he was the leader of the team. But when the two-platoon system became what everyone was doing in the 60s, it made more sense having an offensive and defensive captain.
From 1879-1969, Michigan had one captain in a season. Bo brought in the offensive & defensive captains in 1970. It stayed like that for a long time. Once in awhile there would be a third player to rise up and be a named a tri-captain. (1976, 1982, 1985, 1992, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2007).
Then in 2008, all hell broke loose and the tradition was stomped on and thrown away. 2008-2009 there were no true captains at all. It was a joke. They just set "captains" at the end of the year to try to please traditionalists. The "apostle" system was just....You had FRESHMEN being named game captains! That speaks volumes right there. Saying a freshman is a leader of your team.
Looked like Hoke was going to restore it until these recent events.
I hope it works this time. The last time there were four true team captains, one of them had their captain status revoked. I don't see that happneing with these guys since they're all good kids.

You're way overthinking this.
The team picked four. That is all we need to know.
August 26th, 2013 at 1:43 PM ^
My understanding is that we have tri-captains in years when there is a tie (or simply a very close vote) on one side of the ball. If we have four now, that presumably means it was a close vote on both sides.

At least there are not new Captains every week.
