Officiating tonight: "It's what did Syracuse in, and thats' it"
According to my best friend and his family, who I had the priviledge of being with tonight while also being on thie LiveBlog. It was absolutely awesome, let me tell you, but all of them are convinced that the refs clearly and blatantly favored Michigan. I need stats, and I need them fast, because my argument is simply that it was bad both ways, at different junctures throughout the contest. Particularly, Burke and McGary down low comes to mind, but does anyone else have supporting evidence or reason to believe the officiating was NOT horrendous tonight?
I thought the refs called it a bit in favor of the Cuse. Either way, the good guys win! Hail.
They got a couple bad breaks. Whistles were erratic all night. Too bad I don't care.
If SU makes a few more shots, it's moot. If UM makes some free throws, it's moot. The loser (either way), only has themselves to blame. Anyone crying officiating on pretty much any game is just bitter.
DON'T CARE FINAL FOUR WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Scoreboard...
I'll worry about the officating later, right now....
SUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ya it was pretty terrible all night and at the end I remember feeling like we caught more lucky breaks than Cuse, but it definitely wasn't totally one sided
Who cares!!?? Screw them, we're playing for the national championship baby!!!!!
It WAS horrendous! Syracuse was absolutely mugging us in the paint in the 2nd half and was getting away with slap after slap when Burke drove. Just make them watch itn again. A fairly called game and Michigan would've been in the bonus with about 10 minutes left.
jim boeheim being a dick in his press conference
It was the interviewer with the question that was being a dick, in my opinion, asking him if he was going to retire now after they lost.
Whistles were weird - but I was glad to see that Syracuse players were very classy during the post game press conference. That definitely made me respect them.
Really bad calls on both sides and some not so bad ones...like ever other basketball game every played...tell them to get over it. If they actually watch the sport, then they know this already
your buddy is a sore loser, go blue ^^
Good Lord...People have blinders on.
Was there a bad call or two?! Yep. DId THJ get lucky at the end there and MCW unlucky? Probably. Shit happens though. Michigan wasn't doing themselves any favors either and nt playing particularly well at the end so 'Cuse was lucky in their own right we didn't "run away" with it. What did McGary do down low that was so bad?! Burke? The officiating was fine tonight.
THjr got mugged going to the rim just before the "chicken wing" call. He got slapped in the air twice and the zebras swallowed the whistle. The problem was the inconsistency and that probably hurt Cuse more than us. They seemed to let cuse get away with a lot and then switched to calling ticky tacky fouls in the final minute. Sort of weird.
Yea I'd agree with this. It did seem odd, and even in live time. I wouldn't have said nor do I still think 'Cuse got jobbed by any means. If it was a tie game for the whole way and then things happened to 'Cuse like some bad calls I could see some red flags being raised if I was an Orange fan. But things were getting/not getting called both ways so, can't really chalk a game like this up to officiating; easier said being on the winning team I suppose but I feel it an honest outlook.
Yeah... it was just weird... don't think it would've made a difference in the end though. Had all the BS Cuse was getting away with get called, we win by 20 points easily. They were mugging us in the paint all game long. Had NONE of the close fouls get called, Mcgary doesn't get in foul trouble and he dominates them in the post like he did all game till that 3rd foul.
but that doesn't sound like a best friend to me.
It is a fact that there has never been a good game called in the history of sports. It is also a fact that refs never favor the team that you root for. Complaining about the refs is as old as game.
After they go to the press, watch Burke away from the ball on in bounds plays.
Then your argument is over.
This. Good God was that ridiculous. There's no way they should've been getting away with any of the stuff they got away with on the press. That's the main reason the game was close in the first place.
Officiating was not great in either game but both games were good games. Michigan came out on top and now on to the finals....lets hope that game is better officiated.
journalists asking the Cuse players about foul calls. What a bunch of clowns!
The officiating was questionable at points for both sides. Overall however I think it favored Syracuse. For the most part I think it's the media trying to play up the calls at the end more than Syracuse.
in one of their runs trapping us where they hip checked the ball handler and it wasn't called. They abused us and got away with it.
Jim Boeheim being as poor of sport as he can be. Of course, the media will give him a pass on it.
It was a dumbass question and now an even bigger dumbass followup. "You don't wanna coach in the ACC".
This is why I never complain about officials. Sometimes you lose some, sometimes you win some. This was our night. I think we got some crucial calls going our way, however, I think Cuse got away with a couple walks. So it's all good.
I don't even care right now really. I've kept pinching myself since Trey's 3 against Kansas. Go Blue!!!
The Syracuse players in the postgame were class, not taking the bait from the reporters trying to get them to blame the loss on the officials.
