So like a Seinfeld episode, this post is about nothing.

Just think just because I live in Canada that I do not have access to television or cable? Why just last month, my dog wasn't eaten by our polar bear. To make things worse, I wake up to Celine Dion singing on the front yard and the Tim Horton's beside me ran out of maple dip donuts. Thank god I still have my Labatts!
January 21st, 2013 at 4:48 PM ^
You sure you're Canadian? "Labatts"? That's like a Detroiter saying "Fords" or any white girl saying "Stolis". That said, props to Canada, Timbits and Labatt!

Anyone know if it's cheaper at Kroger's or Meijer's?
I just watched the whole practice and Denard just stood around in a QB no-contact jersey. He didn't participate in any drills. Wasn't he supposed to be playing as a WR?
Is 1988 really waaayyy back when? According to my mp3 collection, it was only about 3 years ago.

Booooo!!! Bad Canadian, bad. I'm not going to call Blue the best beer in the world, but c'mon. Landshark? Ok. That's all my beer preaching for the day.

Maybe he just has more than one Labatt.
And people do this all the time. I know many Michiganders who refer to Meijer as "Meijer's."

Cool Story Bro time...
My family business was delivering to Meijer's back when Fred still worked the dock. To us it was "Fred's" store, therefore, "Meijer's".

That is a cool story, bro. Was this the one in Greenville, or after it moved to GR?
I worked at Meijer so I had to learn the history.

Originally Greenville & Cedar Springs, then Thrifty Acres in Kentwood. (or is it Wyoming?) Now DC's in Lansing, Newport & Tipp City, OH.

May I recommend our friend Pat Stansik's piece of work "I Love You Denard" to help you cope with your separation anxiety?

Opinions are one thing but you say "We are instantly improved from his departure" like it a fact as clear as the sky is blue... which is most certainly is not.

I hate that Denard was in an offense that was less than ideal for him these past two seasons, it's led to a lot of people feeling like a Michigan without Denard is a Michigan capable of winning more games (which right or wrong, sucks). That isn't a knock on Hoke or Borges, it's not easy to entirely rewrite your system for a guy, I just can't help but feel like we missed out on a couple Heisman-type seasons from Denard (health withstanding).

We went 11-2 and won a BCS bowl in his junior year. In his senior year he got injured in the most important game of the year while driving to take the lead. If he had remained healthy and we had won that game the team is in the B1G title game facing a 3rd place team from the other division for a trip to the Rose Bowl. And that all came after being named the player of the year in the conference as a true sophomore.

Yep negged. He was our brightest spot in our darkest years. Have met him on campus various times and is a class act. He talked to me like we'd been best friends for years. You're insane not to have anything but respect for him. Honestly, shame on you.
January 21st, 2013 at 5:28 PM ^
"Shame" on him? For having an opinion different from yours? Especially about a topic that doesn't really affect anyone?
January 21st, 2013 at 5:59 PM ^
Well in certain cases when someone's opinion is so obviously ridiculously wrong, then it is appropriate to say "shame on them". And in this case, he was absolutely wrong. I mean it's like when someone tries to argue that, I don't know, any country in the world is better than America. Or that golden retrievers are great dogs. Or that Big Ten Burrito is better than Pancheros. These 'opinions' are so ridiculously wrong that anybody who states them should be treated like the plague.

He is the all-time leader in rushing yards by a quarterback in NCAA history. That's a pretty major accomplishment. I'm pretty sure most fan-bases at other schools would be able to recognize that for what it is -- a big deal.
Even more, he also by all accounts appears to be a very good kid.
He may not have been the best passer, but he sure as hell is one of the best players we've ever had at Michigan.
And to say we're better off without him is crazy. Look at how versatile he was in those last few games and just imagine how awesome it would be to have another season of him providing that x-factor for us. We have no proven home-run threats on the team without him.

As far as real updates (from what I've heard), he was catching the ball and moving like Denard Robinson, but he didn't look natural at WR. Furthermore, he was wearing the yellow jersey because he hasn't been medically cleared yet. He's still wearing the sleeve. He is hopeful of being cleared for tomorrow.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:24 PM ^
To confirm what you've heard, Detnews LINK. Kept out of contact because of same nerve injury. (If it's still a problem, will another day or two help? Certainly hope so.) Reports of good catches, but they're undefended. For some reason, draftniks want to see how he can catch when somebody's trying to stop him.
On the good news/bad news front: A WR coach praises his attitude, even without being able to play, asking the right questions, etc. Not surprising. Bad news is that WR coach is for the Raiders.

Yes, I know "Please, God, don't do that to Denard"..bla, bla, bla. There are worse things than playing with Megatron.
Anyhoo, I think he would be an awesome weapon as a slash type player no matter who drafts him. I really do see him as a Percy Harvin-type player at the next level. If Denard can develop receiving skills he ought to be a multiple-dimensional threat on the scale of Harvin.
I could see the Pats drafting him. Lord knows they need the speed and playmaking ability.

Brady to Denard for the touchdown! Would be incredible.
