And another of the trains …

And another of the trains (The General) is at The Southern Museum in downtown Kennesaw along with an entire three or four room exhibit dedicated to the chase.

There are zero DBs in the…

There are zero DBs in the entire country that would be able to make an interception on 40% of jump balls thrown between them and Nico Collins. Collins is 6'4" which makes him (at least) 5" taller than most corners he gets matched up with one-on-one.

It is somewhat short notice…

It is somewhat short notice in terms of how p5 v. p5 "home-and homes" are usually scheduled. If I had to put money on it, I would guess we get a neutral site game against a P5 team in 2022. Possibly in Europe as was (I think) suggested by Harbaugh last offseason, but could be in Atlanta or JerryWorld

In 2023, I think it will be a third home game against either a relatively strong G5 (like Houston/Cincy/BYU), or a traditionally avg-below avg P5 team (Cal/BC/Vandy).

In addition to the teams…

In addition to the teams listed, Michigan has also never played South Florida.

Game is tomorrow, fyi. If

Game is tomorrow, fyi. If you're going to College Park for some unrelated reason on Sunday at Noon, then disregard this reply.

In Maizen's defense

He sems to be blaming Warde Manuel, which would be the proper outlet if this was a monetary thing, which I'm not necessarily convinced of.

I like Webb

He might be right, but if Donlon really left without telling anyone as the one "insider report" said, how was Michigan supposed to counter NW's offer?

Neither

had anything to do with money, though. Meyer is getting close to the end of his career and wants to be near his grandchilden, Donlon wants to work with his best friend. Not sure what anyone in UM's Ath Dept. could do about those things. But Beilein haters have to love having something come up this offseason to complain about after he so thouroughly embarassed them the last two months of the season, I guess.

Headed to the game

7 hour round trip to watch a two hour game is a lot, but Michigan hasn't played this close to Atlanta in 6 years and who knows when they will again

11/23

I'll be in Columbia for the So. Carolina game. About a 7 1/2 hour round trip, but it's still a heck of a lot closer to the ATL than Mich MBB or football usually travel

Under 30 and never seen the Godfather

So the only thing I know Abe Vigoda from is the random appearances he would make on Late Night With Conan O'Brien as, more or less, a prop for some of Conan's skits. 94 years. Must've been a heck of a life.

Why?

Why? Are they moving NCAA Tourney games to campus sites?

Really liked S1 of True Detective and Daredevil, but one season isn't a big enough sample size... Caveats being that I haven't watched BrBa, Mad Men, or House of Cards, or really any subscription cable shows other than those mentioned

The problem

The problem with saying division winners should have an advantage is that baseball doesn't play a balanced schedule, so winning a division doesn't prove anything except you're better than the other teams in your division. As long as there's an unbalanced schedule, I see no reason a division champion deserves a significant advantage over a Wild Card team. If they go back to playing a balanced schedule, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with the WC play-in format.

As a 90's pro wrestling fan,

As a 90's pro wrestling fan, I'd have to say the Steiner Brothers.

Does it really matter that we missed the NIT?

I don't think a recruit cares about the difference between missing the NIT and not. Did you kow that 26 of the last 60 Final Four teams missed the NCAA tournament within two years? The position Michigan's in is far from from uncommon and not anywhere close to the red flag you and your ilk make it out to be.

Like Ricky Doyle?

You mean like the guy who just went 6/6 against one of the best bugs in the country? Good call

Not so fast

I would have said the same thing until a couple days ago when I saw that David Stockton was on an NBA roster. I watched a lot of Stockton's games at Gonzaga, and no one in their right mind would take him over Spike.

What about Ricky Doyle's game

What about Ricky Doyle's game gives you the impression that he is better suited to  play PF? Especially for a John Beilein team?

No one said they were reporters

You think Hackett's letting media into his top secret meetings?

Doing the math

I got 17.4 Units of hustle-grit. You might want to double check though, because I was always terrible with word problems.

My favorite argument. "I

My favorite argument. "I didn't think he was a first ballot HOFer."

I've never understood how people can take their personal observations of baseball players outside of statistical analysis so seriously. What percentage of Tom Glavine's career appearances did you witness either in person or on TV? Unless you're a Braves fan, I would guess that we're probably talking maximum maybe two or three games a year? Do you really think  that based on observing well under 10% of his career appearances, whether you thoughg he was that dominant is remotely relevant?

That's not really how it

That's not really how it works. LeVert and Stauskas took over the offense in the second half. There's only one ball to go around and GR3 doesn't get to start the offense.

Uhhh..

I think UGA was pretty relevant last year when they were 5 yards from going to the National championship. And winning a couple conference titles doesn't really = lasting relevance. KSU is basically only relevant when they have one of those conference championship type seasons. Oregon v. Texas, the Rose Bowl (just because it's the Rose Bowl), and the Orange Bowl are all higher profile than this game at least. And a few other games are probably equal to this matchup (i.e. One team has large national appeal and the other has only regional appeal)

Not sure why people on here are so high on UGA.

I'd rather play UGA than Texas. Yeah, Gurley will get his yards, but they are down three of their top 5 WR, and their D is well below average. I don't think I'd pick Michigan to win, but UGA hasn't blown out a non-horrendous team all year and they lost to Vandy, which is a worse loss than either of UM's.

Although, I don't see how UGA gets a NYD bowl at this poiint anyway. They don't have a prayer against Auburn so they'll be 8-4 at best. SEC almost certainly gets 2 BCS bids (Probably 2 of Alabama, Auburn, and TAMU) but Georgia will still probably be behind whoever doesn't get a BCS bid + LSU, SoCar, Mizzou, and possibly Ole Miss.

Pro-Bowl

Pretty sure Brian Greise went once after two or three other QBs declined invitations.

Some might object to "funky"

Sounds like a semantical argument, though. Kennard loads his shot from about chin-high, which is non-traditional, and not what you'd see in a John Beilein instructional video.

Our lone '14 commit

Ricky Doyle is a high 3*/ low 4* Center. But as far as "dominant" bigs, the best shots are in 2015. Stephen Zimmerman and Diamond Stone. Watch a Sophomore highlight tape of either of those guys and you'll be sold. Zimmerman looks like he could be the second coming of DirkNowitzki.

They're actually equal

Marlin Jackson WAS a Poor Man's Charles Woodson.

I think Tall Ball looks

I think Tall Ball looks better if you assume Donnal contributes (which I think he can) and break down the PF/C as...

PF: McGary (20)/ GRIII(10)/ Donnal (10)

C: Morgan (18)/ Horford (12)/McGary (10)

With Bielfeldt getting mins during blowouts and when 2 or more of the above get in foul trouble.

Watching

Watching the Braves destroy baseballs, mostly.

Hey, you guys,

What if Da'Shawn Hand wanted to be a Sociologist?

Neither of your scenarios were plausible.

The first because the inbounds man was 92 feet from the basket, and the second because we were up three so beating us the length of the court for a lay-up wouldn't matter.

Every team in the top ten

has a guy on one of their blogs saying this exact thing, and they're all right. Which means one of them is actually wrong. Hopefully it's you.

That's a tad melodramatic.

Plus, the entire first paragraph was about THJ.

It certainly wasn't the most

It certainly wasn't the most efficient 25 points, but he did have more points than FGA which isn't inefficient either. And he had 8 assists. Trey wasn't the problem, our third and fourth leading scorers going 4/16 from the field for 12 points were.

Serously?

Yeah, if we start like that we'll definitely lose to Alcorn State in the first round... even if that were true, why in the world would we start out playing a 15/16 seed in (most likely) Auburn Hills as poorly as we did playing #3 Indiana in Bloomington?

Lame

There's a reason that the ONLY fans that prefer women's basketball to men's are fans of schools that have elite women's teams and average-at-best men's programs. Otherwise, it's like preferring Arena League football to the NFL.

You're a fool. Even if you just assume

That our QB play will be greatly improved, there is not a single player on our roster next year that could be a better runner of the football than Denard. Did you see how much better a running back he was than anyone else on our roster despite never playing the position before? MAYBE we're better with someone else at QB, but there's no way the overall ability of that roster improves with the subtraction of Denard.

Duh

It's an obvious Alannis Morrisette reference.

Original Title

I saw it and figured it was some guy talking about Zak Irvin. Unfortunately I clicked on it because I like to see what mgobloggers think about Michigan recruits and instead got 25 rants about how poor a thread title it is and 20 (now 21) About how stupid it is to complain. What I really don't understand is the ppl that say they wasted time reading the post because they thought it was going to be about Irvin de-committing/dying(???)/deciding to become a Buddhist monk. Meanwhile the post was actually exactly what the title should have indicated to anyone who wasn't willfully ignorant: general thoughts on Irvin's potential as a collegiate basketball player. It's really not that complicated, guys.

No big deal, IMO.

Already faced Pitt and KSU, which are both just as bruising (if not more so) on the interior as WVU is.

Kliff Kingsbury to TTU

He'd be skipping the mid-major head coaching step that most have him slated for next, but I think he'd be a great hire.

WAR

is not predictive.

I agree.

FSU probably beats UF next week. If USC beats Notre Dame, then I think we end up with Oregon (if they beat OR St. next week) vs. SEC champ. If Oregon loses that game or the Pac 12 championship, then the next team in line would be KSU or FSU.

My assumption

has always been that his name is pronounced like Galen

Michigan wins

Koger and Ecker (and Shawn

Koger and Ecker (and Shawn Thompson and Massaquoi) were indeed "not chopped liver." Joppru was more like sirloin steak, though. 2nd round pick/2nd TE selected overall in '03 draft. Unfortunately, injuries prevented him from ever making an impact for the Texans.
