I don't know whether to listen to "I Love You Denard" on repeat or sit and write little haikus about Greg Mattison and/or Jake Ryan. Help!!!
October 13th, 2012 at 6:47 PM ^
The Mgobloggers were nestled all snug on their couches.
With visions of Mattison defenses killing MSU slouches.

Denard has shoelaces and touchdowns dancing through his head
Maxwell dreamed of Ryan and instantly wet the bed.
Leveon screamed " I will hurdle and rumble"
But having no o-line will cause him to stumble.
Tom tried to dream of sacks tackles and cheers,
But Lewan owns his ass year after year.

for Denards rushing QB world domination?!
October 13th, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
Pat White: 4,480
Denard Robinson: 4,043
Denard has either seven or eight games left. That's 64ypg for seven, 56ypg if we go to the BTCG. If he doesn't get hurt, it's his.

KIND SIR!!
Doesn't that just make you smile? Good for Denard.
Beat Sparty, Win at the shoe, go to and win Rosebowl... LEGEND..

gonna be sweet for him to break it, but if braxton stays all 4 years he will probably break denards record in a few years

moar ball sacks!

I love Denard. I love his nickname and the story behind it. Having said that, is it time for Denard to start tying his shoes?
He's lost a shoe on a big play in like 4 of 6 games this season (IIRC). They've ended in big gains and we've been winning, but against the meat of our schedule the ability to make that last guy miss and take the ball to the house could be the difference in the game.
Point: Notre Dame. All we needed was one touchdown. If Denard has a shoe on big play, he might have the confidence to make a cut against a DB who is trying to chase him in space. I like that he's being smart and avoiding uneccesary contact, but I can't help but think that he's operating at like 90% of his potential elusiveness with his shoes untied. When that shoe falls off, his elusiveness meter falls to around 30% of his potential.
I'd love to see Denard tie his shoes. Does anyone agree? I sort of believe the NFL would enforce it somehow, why not start now?

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Absolutely not.

Tie the shoes??? HELL NO. But I'll admit you do make a point. Fortunately, there is a simple solution called velcro if it actually were to be a problem.

of all statistics are made up. Also if I could figure out how to embed, i'd put up the 16 candels Family Guy episode where Jake Ryan takes what he wants. I always think of that when I see Jake going crazy in the back feild. NO Jake! Not like this!

Otherwise there would be jock straps littering the field in lieu of Denard's shoes
October 13th, 2012 at 6:47 PM ^
Rawls and Hayes looked pretty good (minus the fumble by Justice), and the Mario with the death stare registered a sack!
October 13th, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
If Jake Ryan is the best player on defense right now, Demens is number 2. Guy has been dominant past few weeks. Nobody other than those two really make me go 'wow, he just did that?' but everyone else is super-responsible and forces teams to put full drives together, and fortunately it seems like B1G teams aren't capable of doing that.
On offense... holy Funchess. That play in the back of the end zone was jaw-dropping.
I'd be surprised if we opened up as <10 pt favorites against MSU.

have to give q washington some love. he has really turned it on the last three games.
October 13th, 2012 at 7:03 PM ^
QWash also gets some of the credit for Demen's play. Eating up those blocks really helps the LBs look good.

Huh. We seem to be collectively having trouble deciding how to distribute credit for such a good couple of defensive performances this season. How the times have changed. I am ok with this new set of difficulties.
October 13th, 2012 at 6:55 PM ^
The defense has really gotten on a roll the last few weeks; I think the Q.Washington and BWC have done a really good job in occupying the interior of the offensive line, allowing for Demens and Morgan to make a lot of plays.
Ryan has been an utter monster.

I had a nice side view of that catch and wow it looked good. I was also impressed with Roundtree's jump ball catch in the first half. I don't know if it was just my angle but that catch looked spectacular.

Growing worry for me:
Jake Ryan is a redshirt sophomore. His draft prospects have to be growing, and if Michigan's trends from last year hold, the defense will only be getting better.
Is he a flight risk? He has to be improving his draft status. Could we lose him after this season?
October 13th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
Just a hunch, but I think he stays. Jake Ryan seems to have fun in Ann Arbor (no elaboration provided). I think he stays one more year. He is getting great recognition in the Big Ten and by us U of M fans, but one more year and he could get the kind of national attention Teo, Mingo, Jones, and Star get now.

The D looks great. The O looks great. Special Teams, with Norfleet, finally excites.
But two years from now there's a greater than zero chance that one of our defensive players might go to the draft early!!! How can I enjoy this great win with THAT to worry about!?!?!
