OT: Derrick Rose Tears ACL
tough break for a really likable player. I was hoping to see a Bulls Thunder finals this year.
Yeah, but a lot of those games were against non-playoff teams. The level of competition is a lot tougher now.

They were beating the likes of Miami and Orlando (pre-dwight howard issues) and other good teams without Rose.
However, I don't think they can replicate that in the playoffs...they are screwed. They got by during the regular season because they play great team basketball and Thibs gets them to play harder then anybody. Talent trumps all in the playoffs.
As a basketball fan this is sad to see. Explosiveness is a huge part of his game and I hope he comes back strong.
As a Cavs fan (and therefore a fan of any team that has the talent to knock the fucking Heat and that ahole LeBron out of the playoffs) I has the sads with you my brother.
left going for a triple double he had 23 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and had no reason to be playing. Coach T needs to lose his job for this mistake. N ow he said the D Rose needed as much time as possible to get gelling with his team even the second team players. But I call bull shit on his answer to the question. Feel horrible for the Bulls fans.
I feel even more horrible for Bulls fans that are also Cubs fans.
I feel bad for Rose, but I can't feel that bad for Bulls fans. They have won six championships in the last 21 years, after all. A lot of franchises have never won one.
I'd like to believe if I were in Coach Thibs' position, I would have sat Derrick with that lead, but saying he needs to lose his job is absurd. If a coach makes a decision based on the POTENTIAL of an injury, he shouldn't have a job. None of Derrick's injuries had anything to do with each other this year. Back spasms, sprained ankle, groin injury, now the ACL. The injury is more a product of the lockout and the schedule than anything.
As a Bulls fan though, I'm pretty devastated.
EDIT: And I'm a Cubs fan. Your pity is appreciated.
I totally know where you're going with that, but preseason games.

12 points in the playoffs is not a big lead. Unless you're up by like 20 with less than 4 minutes you close out the game with your starters. This is the playoffs fergodsakes.
Also Rose is working his way back from injury and badly needs the court time. If I were coach I would have played him even if it was a blowout.
I have to disagree. While the lead was probably safe, 10 points in the NBA is not that big of a lead; a couple of bad plays and things look different. Frankly, there's no way to predict this kind of event. Firing would be excessive.

Are you telling me you just cant give the ball to 80%+ FT shooters like Kyle Korver or Rip Hamiliton and keep a lead?? Philly would have been fouling anyways.
of his first two years. Firing a man who's done that is idiotic. Should he have sat Rose? Maybe, but this injury was a freak accident that could have happened to anyone; it wasn't as if Rose reaggravated an existing injury.

Now was the time for D-Rose to close out the game and get rid of the rust. Better to get things together against weaker competition than to wait until it is too late. As a Bulls fan, I'm seriously bummed. This will be good for the rest of the team, but I really hope that Rose heals up over the next 6 - 9 months. Also, I really like Thibs, and what he has done with the Bulls.
Dude can catch a tear though.
I don't really have a stake in it, but feeling horrible is a little overboard, IMO. I'm from the area and wish Rose nothing but the best, but he's paid millions to accept the risk of injury. I'm sure he's fuming about the "what if" nature of this season, but he's young and will have other shots.
There were Bears fans here and in Chicago hoping for the Madden Curse to knock Calvin Johnson out for the year. I feel as though this is karma coming early to kick them in the ass.
Go away.
This pretty much paves the way for the Heat to the finals.
Well, the Heat will probably cakewalk to the Finals now. It'll be up to the Western Conference Champ to refuse LBJ a championship again.
I am the biggest Bulls fan(since 1990). I feel like I got a giant kick in the nuts today. His game may never be the same. This Inj may cause them to make some big moves in the off season as well. I doubt Bulls fans will ever forget this time in Bulls history. It will change a lot of things. Please feel free to send flowers to my door step. I'm crushed.
I know you are going to be bummed regardless, but the good news out of this situation is that the procedures and treatment for torn ACL's have become so frequent and advanced that its unlikely he won't be able to regain his same form if treated properly
The best PG in the league..Has it al..Hope he gets back to MVP status

The other stars in the East really are douchebags... I was really pulling for the Bulls. Welp, time to watch the West.
I hate the Bulls. I like Lebron and dont know why everyone hates Lebron. OK so that announcement was over the top but besides that the guy does no wrong off the court and he brings it to the court. Yea he faded a couple of times down the stretch but you know what, didnt D Rose do that with Memphis in the Finals, didnt I see him more than a few times in the NBA miss potential game winning free throws only to blow it.
People like D Rose because hes somebody to root for against Lebron but the fact is D Rose isnt even on Lebrons level. Basketball isnt only about offense, defense counts too and Lebrons D is so far ahead of D Rose's. And get used to the injuries, D Rose's style of play will cause him to continue to be injury prone.
Miami will be in the NBA Finals this year again and will have a real good shot at winning it. Then Lebron haters will cry again, for no apparant reason.
Don't remember crying. I remember popping champagne with the Mavs on Bron Bron's floor.
