Will PSU have a QB for their bowl?
Per ESPN, Penn State's three QB's are all in some sort of trouble and there is no clear picture as to who will be starting for their bowl game:
- McGloin has a concussion after starting a fight with a WR.
- Bolden was busted for stealing gatorade from a store.
- Paul Jones has academic issues that may make him ineligible.
Hopefully no one picked PSU to win in their bowl confidence pools....

I'm available.

Really Bolden? Stealing Gatorade? There must be an unlimited supply of free gatorade for the football team. That's just beyond stupid.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
It IS Bolden we're talking about here.
December 19th, 2011 at 3:02 PM ^
Back in my day (early 90s), the basketball locker room in Crisler used to have gatorade flowing through the water fountain! It was available 24-7. I can't imagine its not the same at the PSU facilities. Man, people are strange.
December 19th, 2011 at 3:35 PM ^
Maybe Bolden just thought that since Gatorade is free within the program's facilities, it was free everywhere in State College. There isn't much more than a 15-watt bulb "up there," either way.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
They have three other quarterbacks on their roster.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
PSU is completely unraveling. Sad to see.
December 19th, 2011 at 6:50 PM ^
Am I a horrible person because I don't think it is sad at all? I mean it's sad in a pathetic way; not in a I am going to cry for them sort of way.
December 20th, 2011 at 3:45 AM ^
No, what's sad is coering up child abuse. what's happening to them on the football field is funny.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
Bolden busted for stealing Gatorade? He must not be too bright.
December 19th, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
to adjust to the fact that Joe Pa doesn't run the campus or local PD any longer.
"...You mean I have to pay now???" His future may be in Columbus.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
You can come back from a concussion in two weeks, so McGloin will start. The question is for backup quarterback.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
Severity, recovery, etc.

Sydney Crosby (and Lee Corso) say "not so fast, my friend!"
December 19th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
If the reports are true that he suffered seizure's as a result, recovery might not be so quick.
December 19th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
Sure you can come back in two weeks. At ND you can come back after the half. However the medical people really studying this issue are saying more and more that it should be more like 6 weeks, or 2 months.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
make a quick transfer??
December 19th, 2011 at 8:05 PM ^
The question is: Will he be academically eligible for a bowl game?

Curl up in the fetal position and cry.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
Magnus's spiel about how we need more than three scholarship QBs is taking on a whole new meaning. That I'm saying our guys will get caught stealing or brawling, but still...troublesome.
December 19th, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
YEAH!!! I'm not just some crazy loon. I'm a crazy loon with a rational fear of Russell Bellomy stealing Gatorade.
December 19th, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
well, sure. He's a fellow Texan. Banditry is in our blood.
I guess I would say, rather, that this emphasises you never know what can happen. If someone told me Bolden would "prank" steal gatorade, I probably would have thought that was far-fetched too.
December 19th, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
Being right doesn't mean you aren't also a crazy loon.
Besides, Russell Bellomy is too bright to steal Gatorade. If anything, he's more of a Rudy-style stock scheme kind of guy. #TheMichiganDifference

I don't think it's irrational at all. One extreme example is Memphis's 2005 football season. All three scholarship QB's suffered a broken leg (two of them in the same game!) by mid-October of that season. They moved a WR to QB and snuck into some low level bowl game if I recall correctly.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
They got this far without an offense, why should the bowl be any different.
Ta-ching.
But srsly... has any program fallen as far, as fast? Miami (YTM) had "issues" for generations, so the "10 of 10" story this summer wasn't really that surprising. tSIO is getting a slap on the write plus Urbie, so they haven't fallen. Other teams have fallen due to bad coaches and recruiting etc. (Volunteers come to mind, and, er, us)... but its not just about a team, their REPUTATION has been crushed. AND the team is unraveling. WOW.
Reall wish it wasn't a B1G team, then I could enjoy watching the trainwreck. But I can't.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
if Penn State didn't have a quarterback and played in a bowl game, would they not move the ball?
December 19th, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
Time to initiate the wildcat!
Seriously though, Gatorade? Really? Penn State is in serious need of someone to turn that ship around.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
stealing Gatorade? wouldnt u think they have Gatorade at the football facilities?
December 19th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
Not only that, but football players have meal plans at residence halls and usally have stipends for food places around campus too.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
well, that or idiocy.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
According to ESPN, Bolden's act was a "prank" and, while he will be disciplined, he will not miss any playing time.
December 19th, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
Nothing here. It was just horse play.

It's actually kind of weird, their fourth (or technically third) string QB is named McGregor.
How the hell do you get McGloin and McGregor to both be walk on quarterbacks? That's awesome.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
I'd be more impressed if it was McFili or McKili, or McThorin-Oakenshield.
But, seriously, Scranton, Pennsylvania. That's how you get McGloin and McGregor.
December 19th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
Charlie Weis could be McBombur!
December 19th, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
McGyver!!
December 19th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
Their offense functions more like it's run by MacGruber.
December 19th, 2011 at 10:23 PM ^
He just started signing Mc's and couldn't remember which one he wanted.
December 19th, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
a Southern Comfort bender, the only thing that matters is the closest gatorade, not the free-est. YMMV

December 19th, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
Rhett Rod is able to play.
December 19th, 2011 at 2:21 PM ^
They played the whole year without a QB..
December 19th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
Isn't their entire coaching staff in some sort of legal trouble as well?
