Armani Reeves apparently visiting
Armani Reeves might be visiting Michigan next week. Tweet says he projects at safety.
ED: Magnus says he's a corner.

Which the coaches promptly filled by taking Jeremy Clark in 2012.

Saw that too. They basically said it's not someone super important. Any body have ideas who it may be?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:28 AM ^
I didn't see them say anywhere that the possible non-qualifier was "not someone super important." Given the Reeves interest, it appears to be a recruit for the secondary, but we have a lot of recruits there who I'd be disappointed to lose (esp Wilson and Richardson).
December 8th, 2011 at 12:56 PM ^
I don't think we have to worry about losing Wilson since he is an EE.
December 8th, 2011 at 1:15 PM ^
I paraphrased them, the exact quote was that losing the commit "won't cause severe conniptions." So I took that to mean it wouldn't be one of our "super important" commits. But you may be onto something with the DBs.

how do the pay sites find out about this stuff? do they have friends in the football program who anonymously share information? do they hear it from other recruits or players? i'm surprised by how much they seem to know.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:13 AM ^
Would they accept a commitment from him though? I mean from listening to Sam Webb, Yuri Wright seems destined to go blue and he's announcing in early January.
Chuckling at msspeedkills information though..

A bird in the hand , but if reeves is projecting as a safety would'nt that be 3 safetys in this class and one atleast next year.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
I count four, with Wilson, Gant, Clark and now Reeves.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:39 PM ^
Oy. Reeves is a corner.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:57 PM ^
Anthony Standifer? That would be five and i thought Anthony was a EE....
December 8th, 2011 at 12:58 PM ^
Standifer is a corner, too.

I can haz Masshole Wolverines?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
I'm new to MA - I didn't think we admitted that we used that term.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:40 AM ^
haha no it's ok. It's a term of endearment.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
I believe Mike Cox is the only MA Wolverine on the roster right now. Need MOAR rep.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:58 PM ^
He is actually from Connecticut.
December 8th, 2011 at 1:45 PM ^
He's from Boston. He went to school in CT at a prep school (Avon Old Farms). He's from Dorchester.

If its grade trouble then wouldnt that implicate either Gant or Wilson being that Reeves projects at safety?
December 8th, 2011 at 11:18 AM ^
Reeves is more of a cornerback than a safety, I think. I haven't seen anyone project him as a safety - just CB or WR.

Let the kids be kids. There's no need to speculate about a student's academic standing. Its disingenuous to this site and to the student.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
Considering Wilson is planning on enrolling early, I doubt there's grade problems wth him.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
What other UM commits are planning on enrolling early?
December 8th, 2011 at 12:31 PM ^
i think it's bolden and ringer
December 8th, 2011 at 12:42 PM ^
I was hopin' you'd include Kalis, Strobel and/or Pipkins. I'd love to see them get started early in spring, especially the defensive guys as I think we'll need them.
(and I just really want to see Kalis. I think he'll be HUGE for us!)
December 8th, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
I had heard that Ringer was re-taking his ACT this month to try to enroll early.
December 8th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
And Dunn...
December 8th, 2011 at 11:17 AM ^
December 8th, 2011 at 11:19 AM ^
We're full at linebacker.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
There is a rumor of a possible of an academic casualty in the 2012 class, and if there is a sudden surge in the Cam Williams recruitment, that would probably be a good guess what position group the academic casualty is coming from.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
After reading the tweet about a spot may be available shortly, the first name to pop up in my head was Marvin Robinson
December 8th, 2011 at 11:48 AM ^
The issue of space is no longer about spots in the 2012 recruiting class but about the max number of recruits the team can take. Michigan is pretty much at the 28 cap a year on recruits so current players leaving doesn't affect spots in the class anymore.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:45 AM ^
I hope all are eligible. If I recall correctly, Bolden does really well in the classroom, and I seem to remember hearing that RJS has a high GPA as well. So that would leave Ross and Ringer, but I could be totally wrong.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:49 AM ^
I wouldn't worry about Ross.
December 8th, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
is......
December 8th, 2011 at 1:35 PM ^
If he is planning on being an EE how can he have grade issues? So that leaves no linebackers with grade issues correct?

I have heard from a couple of sources, that if there was room LB, Armani would commit in a second and so would Cam as they would love to be together in Ann Arbor.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:25 AM ^
But I wouldn't mind it if Armani stopped by Noah Spence's house and brought him along for an official visit.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:56 AM ^
... and maybe see if Eugene Lewis wants come for road trip too !!!
(hey, I can dream... can't I?!?!)
December 8th, 2011 at 1:17 PM ^
Does it include a phone call to DGB and he meets them all up there?
O Wonderland! How you make me long for reality.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:24 AM ^
When the news broke on PSU, I went through their list of commits to find possible defectors. Armani was the only guy who had previously expressed interest in Michigan. And I think we (as a board) were kinda excited about him.
Also, the coaching staff had put some work in on him:
Steve Wiltfong -Michigan is back after Top247 ATH Armani Reeves. #Wolverines 247sports.com/Article/Michig… via@247Sports
"The Wolverines had three coaches including Brady Hoke talk with Top247 prospect Armani Reeves on Tuesday."
http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/michigan-talking-armani-reeves-again
From the man himself (clueless at how to blockquote, so a bullet it is):
- I'm going to put [Michigan] in the top three. Just because I like them so much that I was willing to look into what they have to offer. Pretty much everything I said before that they have academics, the whole thing with Michigan. I haven't really thought about what's next or if I'll visit any time soon yet. I don't know when I'm going to make my final decision either, this kind of changes things a little bit.
http://mgoblog.com/diaries/tomvh-armani-reeves-will-include-michigan-his-top-three
If the boy has talent, and the coaches want to fit him in somewhere, I certainly wouldn't scoff at a quality 4* commitment.
December 8th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
This is incorrect. Camren Williams and Tommy Schutt showed interest, too.
December 8th, 2011 at 12:41 PM ^
It seems to me that Michigan is a little thin at D-Line and Tommy Schutt wanted to come to school in A2. I'm surprised that the coaches didn't make a bigger push for an elite player at a position of need......but they know more than I do.
December 8th, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
At the time Schutt was looking at Michigan, I believe we had Strobel, Brown, Godin, Wormley, and Pipkins all committed. I think we were all set at each of the positions at the time. Brown moved from a DE to TE commit to a uncommitted recruit since then. I think we're still full at DL.
