Will Johnson possibly not ready for opener
Is this widely known? I just read that he's working through something and might be out a few weeks. That makes me super nervous given the history of guys who will be good by the season and somehow never show up (e.g. NHG).
“I’ll be ready for the season,” Johnson told the Detroit Free Press. “I don’t know how much I’ll play the first couple games, but I’ll be ready.”
If this is widely known, my bad... But I don't recall reading it anywhere
Fart
Shart
I agree. A fart is a relief but a wet fart is a dilemma.
I agree with both arguments. It all comes down to control.
And diet...and unfortunately age.
That depends
how do you know so much about Oops I Crapped My Pants
I'm wearing them... And I just did

Never trust a fart
Saying “I don’t know how much I’ll play the first couple of games” 3 months before the season is scheduled to start is a bad sign. This sounds like a significant injury that likely required surgery. Otherwise the timeline would be less predictable than what he makes it sound like. This is a total guess, however.
Edit: looks like recent knee surgery.
Why the negs on an ACTUAL ERdoc? He even shared that he had actual knee surgery, which for a Cornerback ya know MIGHT be a lingering problem.
Jesus, this crowd sometimes.
I would guess the negs came before the edit with the link where it was speculation.
But why neg speculation, especially when informed by actual expertise and consisting of some modest and logically coherent line of reasoning? Like, if you're looking for airtight reporting of fact, maybe don't visit a football message board in early June.
Because speculation on a blog is an unwelcome and rare occurrence. No one ever makes predictions or guesses on here. There is no place for educated predictions, opinions, bias, or feelings on a sports blog.
Your mistake was saying it was just a guess. This is the internet. Any speculation needs to be couched as an indisputable fact. Also you must assert you're an insider or at least got it from counterstrike.
Damnit you’re right. Next time, I will not provide honest speculation. Instead I will profess the information I am providing is indisputable fact, I will claim multiple inside sources”close to the situation”, but will not provide links or name names. It is the mgoblog way.
The real good stuff comes from Valorant these days.
You'll have to take it up with the people who actually negged you. A question was asked and I gave an answer. Though I do appreciate the neg you gave me for my speculative answer.
Because the points aren't real
So the Michigan Insider article made me less concerned about Will, he sounds like he'll be ready to go for the fall. But this didn't sound great:
A healthy Johnson is a lock for a starting spot in 2023, but the other starting corner role is up for grabs.
“It’ll be a long offseason trying to figure that out,” he said.
I am confident we will find someone for that other spot. McBurrow has recieved a lot of buzz while here but hasn't been healthy. Walker/Hill are freaks who just need time/seasoning. We have a couple other options as well, a platoon, or transfer potentially.
Even moving Mikey outside and a safety like Berry into nickle would likely be good most games.
Agree 100%, might be a blessing in disguise if Walker and Hill need to prep to be starters. Much more mental reps, in game reps, and runs with the 1's in practice, very valuable early in the season. We can afford to do this for 3 games, but after that I would like to see Mikey back in the slot and Johnson back. I also think McBurrows will start if healthy....
We'll hang 50 on this OSU defense. Would be nice to have a fully functioning-Will Johnson, but not necessary. We doubled their score at the Shoe without the best player in America and our best defender. We'll have a better line this year, outstanding LB's and safeties. OSU has no soul, and will curdle into the slimy pile of brie they are at the first sign of adversity.
I love the way you think BB.
This could also be why they are pursuing the Grad Transfer from UMASS as well. Just trying to stock up on players.
Harbs just inked DJ Turner to a 2 way contract.
On the bright side, assuming he’ll be good to go after the first few games, this would be a great opportunity for McBurrows, Walker, etc to truly battle it out and gain experience for those #2 and #3 corner spots.
Exactly. He had a surgery on his knee but I haven’t seen anything indicating need for concern.
Bigger point - If M can’t win the first 4 (or 6?) games without Will we have bigger issues.
Tesla - try the Glass half full route for once and focus on the added reps for the rest of the CBs
Kewl
Jesus. The OP never said he had concerns about the first several games. Why so obtuse and putting words in his mouth or make assumptions?
This program has historically been AWFUL about telling the truth about medical conditions including NHG that was mentioned.
Harbaugh saying Johnson is "working through something and should be fine" isn't the feel good remark it should be. They are anything but transparent about injuries, so yes - a DEFENSIVE BACK that relies on CUTTING quickly is a potential concern for this SEASON.
JFC guys.
Rather it not have happened, but this sounds like “he had his knee scoped and cleaned up and he isn’t going to risk coming back too soon against dog shit teams that have no chance.”
Yeah looking at all of Will's comments about the situation it reads like he thinks he will be fine, but the coaches know this season has great potential so they aren't going to risk using him any more than necessary during the non conference schedule.
After all, with how secretive the team has been about injuries in general during Harbaugh's tenure, and with CB depth being the primary weakness for this year's team, don't you think they would treat a serious Will Johnson injury like top secret classified info?
Stop being such a concern troll.
This program has historically been AWFUL about telling the truth about medical conditions including NHG that was mentioned.
Translation: this program has historically been very good at protecting the medical privacy of its student-athletes, as required by law (HIPAA).
The user name does NOT check out.
Man, halfway down the page until someone brought up HIPAA? You guys are slacking today.
You mean, HIPPA? The law saying you cannot speak about someone's health. At all. Not even if the person themselves has divulged it. You cannot repeat it. It's against the law of HIPPA.
No, HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
HIPPA is a nickname for a female hippopotamus drama queen (hence the ALL CAPS).
No, it’s definitely HIPAA. Google is free, might want to use it to double check before trying to correct someone.
Ummm... athletes all sign a form giving the university permission to release that information.
Can you document that? Because it seems to be a violation of HIPAA, which restricts releases of health information to specific information for specific purposes with the patient's consent. If employers/schools/HCPs can get blanket waivers as a condition of employment, enrollment, or treatment, that would defeat the entire purpose of the Privacy Rule.
But I could be convinced that your statement is correct by seeing some authoritative evidence in support of it.
I prefer the glass half full outlook
thanks
If true (unreliable source), don’t we start the season with 9 bye’s?
This may have something to do with the late UMass transfer push, no?
Great point. And if so, are they nervous about it healing in time etc
We may only be 34 point favorites over ECU now
Makes sense 👍
Exactly, plus this will give time for a number 2 to figure it out and give some more experience for everyone else. People keep saying McBurrows is the next man up, but I'm honestly hoping Jyaire Hill comes in and can take the spot as a freshman.
