Realllllly missed Livers' shooting and defense in this game.
Yup. Haven't had good spacing since he went out. The guards were a lot better with more space but they seemed really limited post-Livers. Mike Smith really wasn't a playmaker anymore.
Defensively they played good, no one stepped up offensively though. I hope those that didn't step up offensively don't feel that for some reason they are ready for the pros.

Still very thankful for this season. At least we didn't decide to suck in the first two rounds like the rest of the conference.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:25 AM ^
King Kong and Godzilla are both grateful that Michigan and the Ghidorah clan did not show up for their Movie opening tomorrow.

What does Illinois look like?
March 31st, 2021 at 12:14 AM ^
Pronounced 'Vagner' because he can't find a W.
What a disappearing act tonight.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:28 AM ^
Uncalled for - Franz is a very good player and had some great games this year. Most of the team was off tonight. So was the coaching staff. Franz and Smith both played poorly, yet they called plays to get them the last 3 shots of the game? Would have liked to see Brown get the last shot.
Or Johns Jr. he played very well
March 31st, 2021 at 12:14 AM ^
Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this one out:
- 54% from the line
- wagner 1/10
- 27% from 3 as a team
- 14 turnovers
- Smith 1-7
We beat ourselves. It sucks to lose when the other team doesn’t even play good.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:18 AM ^
That's what's so frustrating for me. I know we're the better team, but we played awful and continued shooting ourselves in the foot

Said Alabama fans 2 days ago...

UCLA isn't any good. Gonzaga will destroy them.
Both things can be true!
March 31st, 2021 at 12:34 AM ^
Best friend is a Bama alum, very deja vu what happened to us
March 31st, 2021 at 12:26 AM ^
I thought it was the refs or the late start.
Refs did not cost us this game. My gosh, we had to keep fouling at the end just to get them to the line. We didn't have anyone in foul trouble, and I felt like UCLA got whistled when they fouled.
True overall. But that one horrible foul call that gave Juzang 3 free throws he didn't deserve was infuriating.
March 31st, 2021 at 10:08 AM ^
no offense but didn't deserve is subjective...It's an NBA rule on the swing through not college... I would say that was being smart and KNOWING how to use the rules
March 31st, 2021 at 12:45 PM ^
That was totally not a refs thing. Yes, they got a couple calls wrong; they always do. But it was by far a very bad shooting night for key guys plus a bunch of turnovers. The team didn't play well and lost, it's as simple as that.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:28 AM ^
That was the second MSU game all over again. Opponent hits a comical amount of midrange jumpers, UM shoots (possibly under) 50% at the rim.
They got Rocket Watts’d.

That’s good d by ucla

Well.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:14 AM ^
When Brady Hoke used to say “We didn’t execute,” I thought it was such bullshit. After tonight, if Juwan says that, I agree. How many layups, bunnies and free throws did we miss tonight? And Franz might just have played himself out of the draft tonight.
You have to include the turnovers too. Most of them were unforced - just dumb passes and balls bouncing off hands.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
Not sure why anyone would take Wagner in the first round at this point.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:21 AM ^
Gumby arms?
March 31st, 2021 at 12:24 AM ^
They would take him in the first round because at worst he is a high level, switchable defender who can cut and score on drives. But he basically had the same game Scottie Barnes had 2 days ago.
I also have no idea why you draw up the last shot of the game for a guy who is 1-9 and left his last 3 4 ft short. At least Smith’s 3 was close.
he's basically our only guy over 6'1" that can dribble/drive.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:32 AM ^
Dude just disappears !
March 31st, 2021 at 12:34 AM ^
A complete disappearance..
March 31st, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
Great season guys. They exceeded every expectation. I hate Johnny Juzang I hope he has a disappointingly short NBA career with zero success and ends up in a cubicle hating his life. That is all. GO BLUE!
March 31st, 2021 at 12:21 AM ^
The retarded Michigan dragon gets a thumbs up but this gets thumbed down lol? Whatever give me some more thumbs down nom nom nom
March 31st, 2021 at 12:25 AM ^
Where you about to say it's a hydra?
March 31st, 2021 at 12:24 AM ^
Juzang was money tonight. Probably wouldn’t even have been close had he not sprained his ankle.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
it felt like watching Michigan football in a big game. The gears locked up and lights were too bright. Never looked comfortable.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:19 AM ^
That’s the weird feeling I have, I couldn’t place it. Michigan football big game feeling.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
Sorry but Beilein wins that game from a game management standpoint in 50 different ways. Juwan is 0 for 2 in crunch time game decisions. Fuck it, he had 3 opportunities there plus osu game to get 1 good call. Dickinson was your only option in all 4 and instead were chucking 3s by players that are having a shit show of a night. Absolutely horrible play and coaching. Ask Harbaugh how it goes failing in crunch time.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:18 AM ^
TBF the Fab Five in crunch time.. nvm.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:21 AM ^
Maybe? Who knows, he’s the coach now. I would give it more than one year before I’m judging Juwan’s tournament coaching performance.
Michigan overachieved all season for it to all crash and burn in one game.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:26 AM ^
MgoBlueBen, Are you saying that Big Ten Network analyst and former 1/2 year Cav’s coach John Beilein would have won this game?
March 31st, 2021 at 12:51 AM ^
You seriously knocking Beilein bro? This program owes where it is to him.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:59 AM ^
I think that's exactly what he said. Pretty clearly. Are you actually disparaging the coach that took UM to 2 championship games and rebuilt the program? I don't know if JB would have won the game, but to dismiss him as "big ten network analyst and former 1/2 year Cavs coach" is a bad take.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
The last 3 shots were taken by guys with 7 points in the game. Brown never touched the ball late. Complete choke job. Long 8 months until next season.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:38 AM ^
Yeah that was brutal! With 25 seconds remaining they started to move the ball I thought great! Then wagner jacks up a three?! Wtf? Even if he made it you leave them with 18 seconds left? I don't get it? Then you give him the shot again to win the game ? I get it he's 6'9 so maybe they are thinking it won't get blocked, but he didn't do anything all game? Terrible late game calls!
March 31st, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
Love our guys! Not a bad word to say. Lets put some hunger in the belly and get all these kids back for a second run. Wagner whether he stays or goes is alright in my book! Head held high Wolverines. Time to develop a big dog for our 2021/22 season. We need that go to guy that wants the ball and wants to dominate when thats what we need.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:16 AM ^
Chaundee should have played way more minutes. Great game from him. Was a beast on the boards. Davis with another good game.
March 31st, 2021 at 12:16 AM ^
Just as well. My heart condition couldn't take another game like that. Hats off to the boys for clawing back and hanging in. 0-8. Just one would've done it. But the future is bright. UCLA was well-coached and M couldn't match the athleticism--hats off to that team.
