I'm sorry Pete, but I had to neg your post..... Don't fall for it... this is appeasement, both to save face if he loses, and to hope Harbaugh doesn't run up the score... Dantini is also trying secure his legacy and undo all the shit he has said over the years.... Don't forget when our program was down, the incessant shots he took at Harbaugh, including the tweet he deleted when everyone was pilon on the Swenson thing....

Dantini is a snake.

Or how about not meeting Harbaugh at midfield to shake hands....that was totally deliberate... its all a ploy...

Ha, he knows he’s going to lose.

We have 12 seasons of data points with him as head coach at MSU. When has he ever been respectful toward someone from another program other than Tressel?  It has to make him sick to be civil.

For what it's worth, I believe Dantonio dislikes the media's attention on Harbaugh more than he dislikes Harbaugh himself.

Without getting into the "my second cousin's brother" stuff, my understanding is that there is some mutual respect between Harbaugh and Dantonio. I know that might not be a popular thing to say around here (especially given a lot of the issues I personally have with the MSU program), but I think that's the root of these exchanges. Happy to be proven wrong...

Fair point. Harbaugh is pretty restrained in this and did what he does: called it out and moved on. However, I believe he was asked about it again afterwards at the press conference the following day (or day after maybe) and went into more detail on how he didn't like it, including saying it was orchestrated. I agree that's a strong counterpoint to what I say above.

That being said, he's never been one to shy away from a public comment about something that he doesn't like. My read of that is that is Jim Harbaugh is. He says what he feels and doesn't shy from that. So I'll digest that a bit with my view, but I'm not sure it flips it.

I bet it started that way but I think Harbaugh has pushed some buttons. The aftermath of the game last year as noted above. I think he's also tweaked Dantonio directly on Twitter about a 3-9 season or something.
