Please guys if you suggest someone getting fired, at least suggest a replacement... otherwise you contribute nothing to the conversation.

It's pretty obvious the results under the current staff have been disappointing.  No shame in suggesting a change.  But let's have a productive conversation about what the next move would be.

Doesn't hurt.  Plenty of people close to the program/AD/Uni read this.

People don't read the Freep anymore.

I can't tell you in how many corners of the world I've been watching a game, talking to a random alumn, etc., where people make Mgoblog references

for $5-6M ?

off the top of my head-----

more dynamic coaches:

matt ruhle

matt campbell

fleck

jeff brohm

luke fickell

any of these will win 8-10 games at M and present a more dynamic recruiting presence than weird jim.

Michigan needs to decide if it's okay with 9-3 seasons. If it is, Harbaugh is the man for the job, but they will never compete for anything meaningful during his tenure.

This is kind of my thought. There's no sense in a change since we would still be playing a few steps behind because we make athletes play school and we won't allow for substantial payouts.

I think the top echelon of teams has been decided until the rules change, no matter what coach you have.

Well, they were an inch from going to the big ten championship game in 2016. I know that’s a while ago but the negativity of this fan base is insane.

This was a well coached game and we were a quarterback away from beating one of the best teams in the country

Michigan lost primarily for 3 reasons:

• Awful Red Zone Play: Had four trips inside of Alabama’s 25 yard line; resulted in just 13 points. 1 TD, 2 FG, and a punt(!). Turn those trips into TDs and Michigan would have had a great shot.

• Shea Sucks and Gattis Didn’t Call Plays to Account for It: Shea had 7 overthrows and a flat-out duck. 8/8 awful deep balls. And only one was kind of close. The rest never had a chance. Need explosive plays to beat teams much better than you and Shea failed to take advantage every time. Yet Gattis kept having him trying to lead receivers deep, and mostly to short guys. Once it became clear he wasn’t making that throw, Gattis should have had him making arm punts to Collins or DPJ instead, especially on third down. Throw a 50/50 ball up and let your tall WR settle under it and try to go up for it. On 3rd downs, worst case scenario is no different than what they did on the next play any way. Huge miscue by Gattis not calling plays that could succeed.

Worth mentioning that the QB whisperer is awful at developing QBs. This is Shea’s 26th game and he’s just as bad as his first game here. His last throw was an awful interception. I have no hope that DMac or Milton will be able to develop any better considering they have the same coach. This will always hold UM back.

• Harbaugh’s End-of-Half Play Calling. Had the ball at Alabama’s 45, 1st and 10, with over 2 minutes left. They would only move the ball a net 6 yards over their next 6 plays. Harbaugh 100% settled for the field goal there instead of going for a touchdown. His clock management has been awful EVERY SINGLE TIME it has presented itself. He needs to hire someone to take over this part of the game from him. It’s actively painful to watch, especially considering everyone knows it’s going to happen.

I thought the overthrows may have been a response to the first couple of series, where it looked like Alabama's DBs were too good for slop tosses or lobs. More generally, a lot of overthrows seem to have been de facto throwaways where you hope the WR draws a BS PI call.

The end of half tomfoolery bothers me. If you're worrying about "they'll get the ball back with a minute left!" rather than trying to score touchdowns against Alabama, then it shows a lack of confidence that's acceptable in pants-wetting fans on the Internet, but not acceptable for a head coach.

The only "tomfoolery" was the third down play where Patterson decided to hand off for 3 yards instead of taking a shot to DPJ who was open by yards immediately.  Should have been an easy touchdown.  I've been a Shea defender for two years, but unfortunately today was a microcosm of his time here.  Way too many plays and points left on the field.

Meh, whatever. The defense held Bama to their lowest output of the season and the scheme had receivers open all day. Not much you can do when your starting QB is playing like ass.

only 21 real points; refs gave them 7 and the garbage TD added another 7.  i would take that any day against bama.  it was up to the offense to go get the win and patterson failed miserably.

hell, it started with our first possession when patterson overthrew collins on a sure TD route which forced a punt.

The "almighty" Don Brown defensive stats are built by playing teams like Rutgers, Maryland, Northwestern and other weaklings. You hear all about the hype of the defense-especially when it is Ohio State week. Then they give up points and yardage like a MAC school. It's an illusion. Any time M plays a top tier Big 10 team, they get dominated.

I think it's time we let someone else Row the Boat.

Thank you, Jim.  But it's clear that he'll never elevate this team to the next level.  He needed to bring Greg Roman with him on Day 1.  Gone are his antics that we all loved.  Other teams keep metaphorically punching his team in the mouth and he's forced to sit down and shut up until he actually wins something to brag about, which seems so unreachable right now.  He's taken too many punches and there's no recovering.  OSU has his number and they're pulling further away.  Fleck would at least give us new hope.  There's no hope with Jim.

Just can't get excited about college football or recruiting when our team loses handily three times a year.

that's a little misleading, Alabama scored 7 pts on a PR against LSU and had Tua playing so the LSU defense gave up 34 to a Tua-led offense on the road, a much better performance than today's defense.  And if it was a high scoring game, they would have put up more points, they pretty much shut it down after 28-13.

My disappointment is that The QB's do not really seem to develop to the level you would think they should.  Coach H is supposed to be a QB whisper and yet.......The whole difference today came down to one position - again.....so disappointing
