Snap Count Depth Chart - Georgia

Submitted by trueblueintexas on January 5th, 2022 at 2:32 PM

Here's the snap count depth chart from the Georgia game.

There's not much analysis to go with this game. It was ugly early. It was ugly late. It was still an awesome season.

Offense:

  • This was the lowest TE/play ratio all season, 1.26/play. The next closest was 1.35 against MSU. Props to Gattis for trying to spread Georgia out.
  • Schoonmaker had a very low snap count. Not sure if he got dinged up or this just wasn't a good match up for him. Playing fewer TE's played a part also.
  • Corum had the least number of snaps for the RB's, partly because Edwards was used as a receiver fairly often. It also doesn't help when the other team's DE's are as fast as your speed back.

Defense:

  • Dax played about half the snaps. I'm guessing he really was working through something.

Yep, that's about all that needs to be said about this.

I'm planning on doing a full season recap, although I was not able to get data for the Big Ten Championship game against Iowa. Hopefully I'll have time next week.

Here's the chart:

Rich Eisen said that Harbaugh sat Haskins and Hutchinson for much of the second half to avoid injury after the game was pretty much out of reach.  It looks like that may be true for Haskins, but Hutchinson seems to have played for the majority of the game.

How do you accomplish this counting of who's on the field for each snap?  The TV angles do not always show, and other things can obscure the jersey numbers.  I applaud your effort, and I'm mystified by how you do it. :-)

This has become one of my favorite features on the board.

Interesting to see how the snap counts evolve over the course of the year.

Thanks for your work on this!

Many thanks for this! I'd built the template for the Iowa game based on the MGoBlue player participation release (which is sometimes interesting to say the least). Then I could never find the snap counts.

MGoBlue had Jordan Morant getting in the game and I thought I remembered him being out there for at least one play. I've loaded this in to my template and I'll email the final season file to you.

He's a first rounder based on potential. He needs to get stronger to hold up at the point of attack. He's not strong enough YET. He also can't make any NIL money because of his student visa limitations. Theres not many 6'5 260lbs OLB WDE that have his speed, burst, and bend. He'll do well in the NFL as long as the right team drafts him.

I watched most of this game on DVR delay so I was able to fast forward through commercials.  That said, it still felt like the game time went by extremely fast.

And it's best that Corum had a low snap count.  The poor guy had a bad game.
