Dickinson Dissociates Himself from Podcast Izzo/Hitler Comments
This seems like a good idea.
"Ann Arbor — Michigan center Hunter Dickinson said he was part of a decision to remove a published Barstool Sports podcast in which one of his co-hosts compared Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo to Adolf Hitler."

Buddy the Elf seems like a more favorable comp for Izzo

He is more Miles the angry one.

To borrow a nickname from hockey's Patrick Verbeek "The Little Ball of Hate" seems like a great moniker for Izzo

I have 2 rules in life: don't associate with Barstool Sports in anything, and never trust a fart.

Don't eat the yellow snow.
Never take a laxative and a sleeping pill at the same time.
January 5th, 2023 at 9:42 AM ^
Third rule is generally not to equate like 99.99999999% of other human beings to Hitler.
January 5th, 2023 at 9:46 AM ^
I think you have a few too many 9s in there. Surely more than 12 people in all of human history can be reasonably compared to Hitler ;P

Ooh this will be fun:
- Pol Pot
- Stalin
- Idi Amin

Me too. It's what terminators do.

Clarence Boddicker would be a much better villain if he wasn't too busy being at Tigers' games. Because, you know, he never misses a game.

Leopold does not get enough of a bad rap for what he did in the Congo.

I had no idea until I read King Leopold's Ghost. Leopold II was a fucking monster.
January 5th, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
Yea. European imperialism was barbaric.
January 5th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
Sure. The rest of the world has been populated by peace loving innocents.
It is amazing to find so many people who somehow think that Europeans were/are more violent than other peoples. Humans of all races and cultures have had the same basic nature throughout history. If Aztecs and Mayans had come across a group of militarily and technologically weaker Europeans occupying a desirable territory, do you think they would have treated them better than they were treated by the Spaniards?

Yes, but his pizza reviews helped a lot of small businesses.

Julius Caesar killed and enslaved many millions of Gauls. That dude was a butcher--way worse than Bootsy.

My general view is that all the genocidal sociopaths are basically the same - it just depends in which era they existed and how much power they managed to acquire (ie, how much damage they could inflict - and how well history can judge them is really based on recencency bias/ability to chronicle their crimes)
They are all monsters and of the same sociopathic mind - just differentiated by era, technology and opportunity. None of them are grey area, "yeah, but" individuals.

Caleb Pressley is by far the best thing Barstool has going for them. His Sundae conversations are an absolute goldmine.

Barstool is such fucking garbage and it's so embarrassing that Portnoy is a Michigan alum.
January 5th, 2023 at 9:21 AM ^
He definitely lets his mouth get the better of him (understatement), but I do like his pizza reviews. They seem to help the small businesses afterwards, according to the owners of said businesses.
January 5th, 2023 at 9:44 AM ^
100% agreed. I'd go so far as to say that Barstool Sports is a bargain basement operation, if you will.
January 5th, 2023 at 11:36 AM ^
Portnoy was also the definition of the kid who didn't belong at Michigan and graduated by the hair of his teeth:
Portnoy, who was originally only accepted to the School of Nursing at Michigan, quickly transferred into LSA after arriving on campus. Unable to pass the undergraduate language requirement, he transferred again into the School of Education, where he graduated with no intention to become a teacher

Stanford era Jim Harbaugh is not impressed
January 5th, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
But Michigan-era Harbaugh as a student wouldn't care (says a person who had a couple of classes with him and let's just say he wasn't tops in attendance).
January 5th, 2023 at 2:34 PM ^
So that's also one thing that Michigan-era Wolpherine2000 had in common with Michigan-era Harbaugh.

But, didn't he have a complaint?
