As the father of a daughter with some athletic potential, there are no circumstances under which I would allow her to accept that scholarship.  That said, my daughter is 6 yo, so Baylor at least has some time to clean up their atrocities before I need to worry about it.

'89 Tourney Run w/ Glen Rice

I caught the UM bug watching that '89 tournament run with Glen Rice and Rumeal Robinson and Loy Vaught and Terry Mills.  When the Fab Five came along two years later, that cemented things for me.  Started watching the football team in '93 so I came in at a good time to watch some of the best beatings in the Game, like Biakabtuka in '95.

My issue with the questions

My issue with the questions is that so many of them are leading.  It alsways seems to me that the person asking the question already has half their article written and now they need JH to confirm whatever their BS concept is so they ask a deliberately leading question in order to get an answer they want, regardless of they truth or fiction of it.

In a word, annoying.

After traveling many states.

After traveling many states. I would have to say New Mexico is absolutely brutal.  It's like Kansas, but with no vegetation to break up the monotony.

Wis v NW

I would contend that Wisconsin's win over NW (even w/ 70 pts) tells us nothing since NW played w/o Persa.  Beating Illinois 26-6 is the most impressive win in that line IMO.  Other than that, I'd agree with pretty much all your other assertions, including your conclusion that Wisconsin looks the best of these three.

My sentiments

exactly!

Love it

One of my favorite recurring features this season.  One quick note...it's Dan Persa, not Mike.

Simply Awesome

There are no better words!

I disagree at least somewhat

I wasn't actually overly impressed with MSU on defense.  They were definitely the best D we have seen, but M was able to move the ball pretty easily and even our RBs were able to get good yardage.  I really felt that our problems yesterday were all execution issues: two red zone INTs and an overthrow that led to 3 instead of 7.  If we come away with 10 points instead of those picks and the seven instead of three, this is a completely different game.

This game actually seemed like the Indiana game, just with some poorer execution on the M side (and a different type of O for the opponent).  The defense played about as well as I expected and MSU played pretty much right to what all the numbers said they would.  Too many big plays given up and M just blew too many possessions in the red zone.

MSU is definitely the best defense we have faced, and I think they are clearly the second best team in the B10.  Given that, I think we did a great job and I am actually encouraged going forward.  I am on board thinking 8-4 is the worst we could do.

GO BLUE!

Best Line

By Saturday at 3:30 I will have convinced myself Michigan is going to win 49-14.

I know exactly what you mean!

Wiscy running on Sparty

I know Sparty is ranked top 20 in run defense, but the only real running team they've faced is Wisky.  Wisky ran for 184 yards on 29 carries (took out the two QB runs), about 6.3 ypc.  I think our offense is going to be just fine.

As for defense it's a little bit the other way.  I really don't care if Sparty moves the ball between the 20's, but I'd like to see us force some FGA and avoid more than 2 or 3 really big plays (runs > 30, passes > 50).  Those are the killers.

Good Stuff

I agree with Blue in Seatlle, the Mathlete content is my second favorite recurring part of this site.  Love the UFRs, the Mathlete, and the recruiting updates.

As a bonafide math guy myself, I love this stuff.  Keep it up!

Just plain awesomeness

I read on the WWL...

that Hart is only going to Alabama this weekend for fun.  That Alabama has no chance because they are recruiting him for defense.

Chad Simmons and Geoff Vogt of Scout.com both tell Sam Webb, writing for the Detroit News, that they see Hart picking Michigan. Simmons says that Hart told him that he was ready to commit this week but decided to follow through on the visit to Bama, even though the Tide have no chance because they want him on defense.

Gardner, Cox, Toussaint

Anyone else get  a little giddy seeing the three of them in there together at the end of the game?  I felt like it's going to be a few good years for Michigan.

For an M fan in Fort Worth

This is fantastic...I suppose it's a little strange that my first ever Michigan game will be in Texas, but such is life.

Typically awesome work!

One thing I always like to point out is that ratings and athletes don't win games, execution does.  From what I have seen of ND-Pur, ND had some trouble executing their new offense, and their defense appears to have made only marginal improvement over last year.

If we stay on the attack on offense, I think we can have a big day.  I am currently cautiously optimistic that we will win this game fairly easily, pulling away in the 4th.

As usual, very good stuff I wonder how often your numbers mirror the Vegas lines. This is something I sort of always expected that Vegas uses to set game lines anyway.
