Your primary and only defense of hoke is youth and yet Coach Rodriguez is condemned for the production of an underclassmen.
2700 yds passing and 1700 yds rushing by a true soph is something you would have us believe is not possible.

There are a lot of ways to soften a genuine belief in player failure.
For example:
"we have a lot of youth and inexperience on offense"
"these kids have been working their butts off and it is nice to see results which match their effort"
"I ask a lot of my offense and have at times expected too much"
None of this would change the fact that Borges is nothing more than a coat-tail OC. It would make his ineptitude more palatable.
